@@CelebratingAppalachia Tipper, I just recently got stung by a bumblebee for the first time in my life. I was walking through the grass in my front yard in my sandals. A blade of grass got stuck between my toes and as I tried to get it out, a black bumblebee was stuck along with it and was getting mommicked, so it stung me on the bottom of my toe. Hurt like the devil! I hadn't even known it was there till it happened.
Matt seems like such a kind man.
I think it’s time for a Granny video! We haven’t seen her in a while. Miss her. ❤️
I sooo love your garden updates with you and Matt!! It's so calming, encouraging, and brings me back to my childhood in Appalachia. Thank you!!! ❤
I really envy your lifestyle. The older I get the more I appreciate how to live more frugally and off of the land. I know it has taken you years to learn the types of plants you grow and what kind of environment works best for a successful harvest. You live in such a beautiful area of the country and have made such a beautiful home for yourselves and your girls!
Blueberry muffins, blueberry pie, and blueberries on my oatmeal are my favourites. Thanks Tipper and Matt. I'm loving the chats at the end of your videos.
This is all very interesting to me. Now that I’m older, I really appreciate those who came before us. I always wonder who was walking around, riding horses, tending gardens right where I am 100-200 years ago. How our ancestors figured out all of this gardening stuff. How they had the forethought to save and pass down the seeds. It’s all very amazing! God bless you and your family. ♥️

And all other things, cooking and baking too. No measuring cups , weight scales, recipes, KZread and food network shows. My grandma and mom cooked and baked strictly from memory. By feel and eyesight . Can you imagine how spoiled we are? And yet people still have problems doing any of this. To much trouble they say, sad. My Grandparents bought a dairy farm in Wisconsin in 1955, could barely speak English, nor read and write. Worked it for nearly 40 years, that’s success. Wish I was still there now.

@@clsieczka oh, yes, spoiled for sure! My great grandparents came to the US from Poland and spoke no English. My other great grandmother came to the US, by herself, at age 19. The bravery, determination and work ethic these people had amazes me! It also makes me wonder what was happening in the “Old Country” that made them want to pack up and leave and possibly never see family again.
Oh my goodness thank you for taking care of your grandma

A great method of gardening to use! I just loved the rattle snake beans last year and they are doing really good again this year. I think you're right they love our area 😀
Tipper, I found a whole bolt of Tulle at a thrift store (what a find!) and have found it to be very useful in the garden. It acts like a "screen" to keep critters out, but has no impact on light or water.

you should introduce granny! and her working in the garden! would be a memory!
You might buy a rubber snake or two and put them up high in your blueberry bushes, and move them around some every few days to scare the birds away.
Y'all are the cutest couple. Kind, hardworking and loving. Happy Sunday night.

The 4o'clocks reseed well in my part of Appalachia (along the ky/va line) so do cleomes.
Our 4 o’clock flowers came back as volunteers this year from a wildflower mix last year and are huge! Pink, yellow, and white, had to pull some up because we couldn’t get up the steps for them. Had no idea what they were until we scanned them on a plant identification app, really got a big beautiful plant for little to no effort with those!
I really enjoy watching your popsicle breaks….lol..Love Matt’s humor, too…I’m glad your garden is doing well & hope you get a bit of rain!

I grow both onion and garlic chives...be careful ...the garlic chives spread kind of like mint. I pull out so much from my raised herb garden. But I do love to use it especially in stir fry. You also might want to soak some of the 4 o'clock seeds to see if it helps with germination. I love the "jungle " you live in ❤
I don’t care for regular blueberries, but I love wild blueberries.
So nice to see seeds from a fellow Canadian. Melon d'eau is just Watermelon in French :)
Matt looks like pollen with all of that yellow 😀🐝🐝🐝
Matt is such a hoot! Your vids. are always so informative, fun & entertaining!
Your husband is super funny and such a hard worker.
My dad always planted Kentucky Wonder pole beans. Boy, they were good when my mom cooked them. The corn that he raised was called Candy Corn and it was as sweet as candy. Mom would dig up some new potatoes and cream them with peas. That was delicious as well. Mom and Dad were hard workers. They had to be as they both were raised through the depression. My dad's father died when dad was 10 years old. Dad had to quit school and help on the farm to keep things going. I sure do miss my mom and dad.

Best of luck with all your gift seeds. I planted 4 o'clocks a few years ago and they come back every year and the hummingbirds enjoy them. Mine have gotten so tall this year that they are crowding out many of my other flowers in my pollinator garden so don't plant too many of them. I'm just down in Greenville, SC and my little garden is really producing - cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers - enough yesterday that I was able to make a pitcher of gazpacho for tonight's dinner.
I finally have another tomato on my Cherokee purple. It's just the 2nd one so far. My tomato plants are struggling this year as compared to last year where I had an over abundance. We need rain desperately. On the other hand my sweet banana peppers are thriving. Matt's shirt looks like what our county road department wears to work in. Your videos inspire me to grow things.
I would love to have a garden like yours! I always try, and usually get some peppers and tomatoes, but I live in the suburbs and where I live, rats have come to the neighborhood, likely from people feeding the birds. They don't live in our yard, but we catch them coming by at night on the security cameras. They enjoy all the veggies I try to grow. Finally gave up, not growing anything they can eat. Good news is they've disappeared from our property, but bad news is no fresh veggies grown myself. At least we get them from friends ever so often. When you mentioned rattlesnake beans it reminded me how much I love them. The local farm stand sells them, gonna have to go buy a batch to cook up with dinner one night! I just love watching you and your girls and comparing similarities between your family traditions in Appalachia and mine here in Arkansas.
