Congratulations! I can't wait to see the flatbed you chose and check it out the next time we get together. Hope to see you in Moab in the fall or maybe a trip up your way prior to FSI as I'll be in CO all of August (just about). Miss you guys and looking forward to the build!

The F 600 does not come in the crew cab configuration or super cab so you guys pick the best possible truck congratulations. Happy travels.
Congrats hope you have a great time with the truck..Wish it could come with the H.O Engine 500hp.🤔
Awesome more details on build, truck, bed, inverter types pricing who you bought from etc. Will increase viewers and give out good information.links in description would help

Great tip!
Beautiful truck, I am thinking about going to a 23 model from a 22 F350 myself. From your research do you know if these 23 models still have the CP4 problem? I have yet to get a disaster prevention kit for my Super duty but I will soon

Have not gotten a clear answer either way. Let me know if you happen to hear a definitive answer.

Yes, Ford still uses and will use the CP4 for the foreseeable future.
I want the f450
If only they didn’t have mark up adjustments I would’ve bought one ❤love ford and GM ❤❤🎉 congratulations on a new vehicle though🎉

Awesome ! Did you consider the gas motor ?
@ExploringStillConnected
Жыл бұрын
We sure did, there are many considerations here and while increased torque and power will be great for us in the long run. The increased range, mpg along with engine brake are big perks for us as we travel across North America. There are other perks such as engine life, resale, and power but also cons such as fuel availability and up front cost.

That’s a well speced truck. Did you get the HO 6.7, or just the standard output one?
@ExploringStillConnected
Жыл бұрын
Just the standard output, HO was not an option when we ordered.
@cornpopwasagoodguy9870

Sadly the HO is not an option on the cab and chassis models.

Did you guys happen to have the snow prep package on the truck?

Was that the snow plow prep package? In that case no we did not.
Just wanted to know what the wheelbase of the truck is? Thanks

Why a diesel over gas engine? What camper will you put on the chassis?
@ExploringStillConnected
5 ай бұрын
A big reason for the diesel for us was the engine brake, also the longevity of diesel engines and the low torque capabilities. Kingstar camper - we have a walkthrough in another video on our channel, check it out!
that truck is meant for weight like 20k on the frame, hopefully it doesn't ride rough, that most complaint with 5500 550 trucks
@ExploringStillConnected
Жыл бұрын
Definitely a concern but we will have to see how it does once it is fully loaded.
Does it come with Adaptive Cruise Control?
@ExploringStillConnected
7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not this model, I believe it’s only the ultimate lariat package that has that and that was not a option for us when ordering.
How did you insure this since its now requires a commercial auto policy since the gvwr exceeds the personal policy limit of 15k? Did you title it under a business or a fictitious business to get a low rate? I know I can get commercial insurance super cheap if I set this truck up with junk removal business insurance. Just curious how you did the insurance and what kind of insurance are you running? Maybe I'm missing something on how to insure these correctly. I don't feel I should have to have business insurance set up to be able to insure this kind of truck. I was looking a the f550 but am now leaning on a ram 5500 for the 360 camera package they have for the cab chassis. If you financed, did you finance with conventional or commercial financing?
@ExploringStillConnected
Жыл бұрын
We got a full coverage commercial auto policy through State Farm which ended up being about $20 more a month than Personal. As for titaling we ended up just selecting "Commercial Use = No" in the licence and titleing paperwork. That is how it worked for us in Colorado at least. No need to have a business in our case.
@MonsterTruckingCo.
Жыл бұрын
@@ExploringStillConnected I’ll call State Farm and try this. I just want to be able to buy my 550/5500 and not start a business right away. Eventually it will be. The insurance company I talked to told me I had to have the vehicle titled to the business to be covered.

@@ExploringStillConnected yeah I’ve been trying to explain to insurance companies that I want a commercial policy for personal not fire hire usage and they said there’s no such thing. I even called rv dealers to find out how people insure their tow rigs 450 and up.

you also can spec an F550 with payload downgrade to 15000 lbs, I am thinking going this route
You may want to consider a Liquid Spring suspension upgrade. Major improvement in comfort and wear and tear. Not cheap though!! Also - you can do a SRW conversion on the F550 and maintain your payload and GVWR - much better for off-roading. Not cheap either!!
@ExploringStillConnected
Жыл бұрын
Yea that is definitely on the list of upgrades. But as you said it’s not cheap so going to be a bit down the road.
Sweet truck, but I bet it rides rougher than a 3 legged bull without anything on it's back! The camper install will tone that down considerably. Very nice truck, congrats!
@ExploringStillConnected
Жыл бұрын
Hahaha you are right about that. Adding the bed helped but after driving 3k + miles with the camper on I realized this was the right way to drive it.
I have Q: is the F350 bed fit the F chassis ? like if I want to buy the F600 chassi and put F450 bed is it possible? plaese say yes 🥲
@ExploringStillConnected

Unfortunately they won’t fit, there is a company based out of Denver @elevationoffgrid that make custom beds to fit the 550 and 5500s though.

Thanks!! You can look up the F550 GVWR but ours is about 10k# with our ‘gearage’ on the back and the bed side storage full. With the camper fully loaded we come in at 17.5k# with a 19.5k# capacity on the F550
You should have got the F-600 a much wiser choice Thicker frame stronger springs if your building a Land Rover for your first time

What is your wheelbase?
Of the 3 manufacturers mentioned, Ford is the only one with a major safety flaw in the design of their auto transmission!!! • In an emergency, you can't push the shift lever from D into N with an open palm!!! This is not shifting in the normal sense by pulling up on the shift lever and changing gears! • On Ram, Chevy, GMC as well as most other auto manufacturers you can do the emergency disconnect move - Honda, Toyota, BMW, Lexus, Audi, Mercedes, Nissan just to name a few!!! • The same is true on Ford's console mounted auto transmissions - you can't do the above move but have to push the lockout button!! • The whole idea behind this safety design is to allow the driver to disconnect the engine from the drivetrain without having to worry about putting the trans into Reverse! There is a safety detent and the transmission cannot go into Reverse with this emergency procedure! • No dealer know about this because for some reason, the manufacturers do not publish this info!!! Try it - you just may be pleasantly surprised unless you own a Ford product!!!!

Good info!
This truck needs a 12.0l engine.
You bought a Ford Commercial Cab and Chassis Truck typically used in that application to load a camper and go off-roading. You’re going to quickly learn that the truck was never designed or intended for you’re use. It’s going to beat the shit out of you whether on the highway or so-called off-roading. I bet you keep it for less than a year before trading in. Good luck…
@ExploringStillConnected
Жыл бұрын
Thanks, there were lots of conciderations but yea we have also thought about the weight and have a few things planned for that before we may decide to trade it in.
Am I watching a Ford ad?
Keep spending 80-110+k on trucks and you wonder why they cost so much.
I’m here to tell you that you will not have a smooth ride on bumpy roads in a F550.
