You don't need a heavy arrow to hunt. Shoot where you are supposed to and you wont have an issue. 400-450 grain and you are fine.
Don’t ever get rid of Nick! 😂 you guys are the best!!! 5’9” size 10 shoe… 😂😂 I spit my coffee out with that one ☕️😅
You do Not need a 631 grain arrow to kill white tail deer. That is a buffalo set up. And your arrow will not go passed 50 yards.
Hit the humerus and had no blood trail.....had to call in a dog......but still recovered the deer.....gotta tell the whole story
When is John Dudley going to hop on the show and teach Ranch Fairy proper form? 🤣
So we choose the arrow that companies send to us to shill for. Got it
Love it! Ranch videos helped me with my setup. I shoot 60lbs 27in Easton axis arrows 340 spine (28.5 draw) with ethics archery half out 100g ss insert. Vpa 125g single bevel. Lighted nock. About 522 grains total with 18%foc. So far I’m 2/2 on deer. Fly like darts!
I can't wait!! I'm shooting a 300 spine, Easton Axis 5mm Match Grade w/ a 75 gr Easton insert, a 25 gr Iron Wills collar and 150 gr Iron Wills left single Bevel. 28.5" draw. Total weight is 610 gr. Bow is set at 63 lbs. The arrows are flying really straight (paper & knocked tuned )w/ my Broadheads. I didn'y have a grain # I was stuck on, it's just what they ended up being because they flew the best.
I just can't bring myself to do the heavy arrows. Tried a heavier setup last year and didn't have very good results, but everyone is different. They certainly work for a lot of people.
33.5" draw means life is expensive. Mathews bow because Bear doesn't make a bow for me. Easton axis 5mm because they're the only arrow longer than 32". 552 grains with 125 grain head and no extra insert because I already reached the weight I was wanting although it's only about 11% FOC.
Slow mo is telling on ya, punching that trigger like it owes you money😂
Great details on the setups. It is helpful when thinking about my setup and what I might change too.
Be 73 before Nebraska opener have $300 in my set up going back to 1986 traded my proline force2 magnum for new model in early 2000s went to carbon then but have always shot muzzy 125
Can’t wait for the deer tour to start!!
Love hearing your setups details and then seeing how they perform through the season.
I really appreciate you guys putting this one out! I've been slowly coming around to the mind set of a heavier arrow set up and this solidified it. by the time i finished your video i was emailing Troy and he helped figure out what arrow would best suit me. I ended up ordering the Sirius 250 spine Super Nova SDs and man do i love the way they fly!!!! Thank you!!
It’s interesting seeing these results as they are concepts that have been used with traditional bows for quite some time. The 600ish gr threshold high foc and heavy cut on contact broadheads are all things used to make slow bows more efficient and effective. Very cool watching the high speed vids ect! Keep up the good work!
I miss shooting my compound 100%. Ever since Mt military injuries started getting worse and the VA started trying to fix them. I had to stop and go to crossbow. I don't have an expensive crossbow, because you don't need one to make a kill shot, and keep it challenging. Great video fellas
I have that same scale...mine has always been used to weigh other things. Good to know I can weigh my arrows with it.
Shooting same old Diamond Fugitive (they dont even make anymore lol), set at 63 lbs, draw 28 in.
