Fantastic band, they (I think all of them) grew up not very far from where I live in Sweden. I actually played with Esbjörn once, waaaaay back, great memory. sadly he died many years ago in a diving accident if I remember correctly.

Check out ‘ Live in Hamburg ‘ from 2006 with EST. He died in a diving accident on the outskirts of Stockholm on June 14, 2008. My friend and I usually leave a flower on his grave stone on that day! Check out his latest release Homes,s a solo project recorded in the basement of his house in the spring of 2008. His wife found the hard drive from his computer last year with the recording on it in a box she’d put away after his tragic death! ❤😢

WoW … this so good. I'll surely be listening to more of E.S.T. Thanks for this (and Mauricio). What a composition/performance. It's as if someone gave Hans Zimmer some sort of powerful jazz steroid. 1,2,3,1,2,3,... with a hunting whole chord overlays and super syncopation piano and bass lines weaving in and out. Love it. 🤘😎👍🎶🍁 Suddenly I feel like watching Interstellar again, weird.

This kind of reminds me of the Vince Guaraldi Trio that did the score for "A Charlie Brown Christmas." It has a nice dreamy vibe to it. I'm stumped on the quote. Okay, now I feel dumb after looking it up. And I've seen this movie at least a dozen times.

For an accurate understanding of how the jazz community in the US adopted E.S.T. and appreciated their music, pay attention to a very interesting fact. Do you know how many times Downbeat magazine has published positive reviews about European jazz musicians and placed Europeans on the front page? E.S.T. were published there after their first visit to the USA.

Small correction ! Eva Svensson, Esbjörns wife found the material a few years earlier than previously mentioned. Together with Esbjörns sound producer Åke Linton she went through a lot of material that Esbjörn had recorded in their celler. From there the recording given the titel HOMES.S by Eva was found!

Awesome,. This is probably my favorite EST song. Love the flowing nature of the song, the driving bass, and how it evolves/builds throughout. Some other favorites: The Wraith, Behind the Yashmak, Seven Days of Falling, Elevation of Love, Eight Hundred Streets by Feet. Some of the other jazz band I've discovered that I really like along these same lines are: Gogo Penguin, Mammal Hands, Neil Cowley Trio, Bad Plus, Avishai Cohen trio, Shai Maestro.

Since you like "Stolen Moments", try Frank Zappa's live "Stolen Moments / Murder By Numbers (feat. Sting)" from the 1988 release Broadway The Hard Way. While doing a faithful cover of the Oliver Nelson song, Zappa calls Sting onstage to sing "Murder By Numbers", before going back to the jazz number.

Outrageously talented and best experienced live, the link below is for their gig on NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert. If you just want to dip in for a taste, I would suggest the track "Window" which starts at around 11:00 min, an absolute tour de force. Enjoy. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZmuMzreFZta4n9o.html

With the unison bass and piano figure, it reminded me of something pianist Jessica Williams might do, like her song "The Weapon Of Truth", which is fairly bass heavy. Dave Brubeck raved about her after seeing her play in Joe Morello's group.

VERY "Autumnal/Fall" :). Don't know anything about these guys. Really nice, you guys swaying to it, and am I mistaken Lexi looks a bit emotional at the beginning :'). The Drums and Bass are fantastic too! Very moving track guys. Mauricio does it again! Yeah Nick, it is a bummer that this type of music, and the more heavier stuff we like, won't get as many visitors/viewers, but know that with each track/band you feature, 1 or 2 (or more) people that have never heard it will be new fans. Its already happened in the comments and LOTS of reply's to it :). Wow . . . I should have gotten that quote (looked it up). But there are parts in that movie that are hard to watch. Only seen it once, and then scenes throughout the years.

On his CD with his new trio "Beauty & truth" there's a "wild" mix of own compositions, Ornette Coleman, Gershwin, 2 great Doors !! covers and finishing with Blues for Pablo, what more do you want ?
