Our First Ramadan Bazaar in Sibu, Sarawak 🇲🇾 | East Malaysia Vlog 2023
First time at a Ramadan Bazaar here in East Malaysia, how different is it to your local bazaar? Is it cheaper than Kuala Lumpur?
Little bit of a brief interval on our trip as we bring forth a Ramadan Bazaar that we ventured out to in Sibu Sarawak - plenty of traditional foods you may not see on mainland Western Malaysia, maybe it's a little different to the obvious choices in Kampung Bahru.
Every one is getting into the spirit ahead of Hari Raya as the Ramadan Bazaar's open (for Westerners it's like a Christmas market) so we've released this early - plenty of amazing food - we get to eat some old favourites to.
Including one of our old favourites. The last time we were in Malaysia it was a very different Raya and these markets were not really running, so we're glad we're back to be able to do this properly!
Plenty more to come on the East Coast and Kuching.

you always tried your best to speaks Malay.. i respect you for that😊
16:50 once the lady knew you were about to eat the gulai nangka with lemang, she reopened the pack and adding more gravy so you will have enough to dip with. How lovely!
Hi Pat & Giulia ... Among d cities in Sarawak d Cheapest foods are found in Sibu .... Thanks for showing Sibu's Ramadan Bazaar to d world, guys ...

Completely true this! It was the cheapest food we found!
Welcome to sibu city sarawak malaysia.
Lemang + Serunding kelapa Lemang + Kuah kacang Vegetarian option feel hari raya
if you vegetarian i suggest you should try “nasi ulam cikgu” in kelantan
Goodness gracious! Giulia is quick! I was just about correcting the same thing in my mind "it's -di/dekat Sibu instead of dalam Sibu" and there she was,.. expressing my thoughts ha ha ha ! Take care guys! You did a great job! And by the way it's totally fine to eat in front of us.. at least to me. I don't mind at all. We do understand and respect non-muslims as well it's your right anyway.
Other attractions in Sibu are Sibu Central Market and Tua Pek Kong Temple. Their is a express bus from Sibu to Kuching. The bus operator named Bus Asia.
Lemang + chicken rendang or Lamb rendang or beef rendang ... Marvelous...
So nice to hear you speak in Bahasa Melayu ❤
I really like your face reaction when you speaking or describe something... full of energy and great expression...
Awesome food tour! Happy to see you guys having a good time in Sarawak. Lots of food in the Bazaar 🍠🍢🍛. Must be hard to try all in a day. I suggest you guys to try fast for one day too, and make review about it 😂.. happy days ahead guys. 😊✌️

Thanks for saying this bro. It is indeed true. Mostly go to peninsular instead of borneo. But in east malaysia, most foreigns all go to Kota Kinabalu besides Kuching🤣
Great video guys, bazaar is so colorful and friendly
Never been to sibu before 😍 looks like great Bazar vibe
Love watching you "celoteh" (thats another word for you) in malay 😂😂. Keep going.
Welcome to Sibu
Doing the whole Malaysia tour series...ehh.. "If you were vegetarian, this would be food paradise" ....I can relate to that statement.. Yup , Lemang , i can see why you were ecstatic when i passed by the ALL Lemang stall at the Bazaar in JB... LOL .... I like the improvisation... Mix and match your food..... the next level of foodie.... Yup, prices are definitely cheaper than JB... one murtabak here is already double the price.... If there ain't Roti Canai on Veggie On Tour, I ain't watching it.... LOL ...Not everyday you see Orang Puteh walking around a Ramadan Bazaar....Some of the food prices are really value for money. Really killing that Lemang at the end of the vlog.... Sarawak Food Experience - Level UP!!! 👍👍👍
welcome to my hometown!
Fantastic food tour
You can eat lemang with Kaya or condensed milk...👍🤗
@haniaj2023
Жыл бұрын
About to suggest the same...condensed milk. Very difficult to find malay savoury food suitable for vegetarian/vegan. Even the vegetable based gulai will have something like shrimp paste or dried shrimp/anchovies/fish in the gravy. For the dipping sauce like the sweet soy sauce can have shrimp paste in it.
Salam mate. Just in time for Ramadan and syawal Eid Fitri. Baju melayu (malay suits) is a must mate, jalan TAR the best place to buy your first baju melayu.

Yummy vlog. Miss the ramadhan vibes in mlysia. Getting cold here in England. Damn. Giulia you did good in spotting Patrick's grammar mistake "di". You guys are doing so well in yr malay. Enjoy yr ramadhan adventures.
You can always ask for Mee Goreng Kosong or Roti John/Burger with extra egg and/or extra cheese to make up for the animal-based patties you missed. Just a suggestion. :D
You both are in sibu now,the last vlog was in the east coast, it's been fun travelling with both of you, can't wait for the next vlog
You can eat lemang with veggie curry...yum..yum..

Welcome to Sarawak😘😘😘😘
Mantap bro...enjoy yr makan
you should eat lemang with kuah satay, kuah satay normaly only have nut inside, except the special kuah satay but mostly it only contain nut and kuah
19:40 hahaha...Giulia eats every thing...no wonder when you say Giulia suka apam balik...Giulia suka lemang...she always gives a broad smile 😃🤣 (Giulia suka kucing juga 😄)
Actually, u can have lemang with "Kuah Kacang" coz kuah kacang is basiclly no meat.. Its just made from bean, chili paste, sugar, ginger, onion and so on.. But no meat or eggs...
pat lemang is good with kuah kachang or satay sauce.. or just plan sambal..
Impressive!
u guys surely can dip lemang with kuah kacang or palm sugar
hope you guys visit sabah
Thank you for realizing to respect not to have your bite at bazaar ramadhan before fasting break.

A word of advice guys.. pasar ramadhan is awesome but try to stay away from ready made dishes.. only buy food that is cooked on the spot or like kuih etc.. if u get pre made food it could be overnight.. u might get tummy upset later

Welcome to the Food Festival that is Ramadan in Malaysia...😅😅😅
Happy to see you both finally making your way to Sarawak. Sibu is not as big as Kuching and has a different vibe to it. 3:30 Don't worry about eating in front of people. I've never heard anyone offended in Sarawak about such matter. For us, you do you. The attitude is that if you can eat, you eat. If I can't eat, don't eat. Respect goes both ways. There are interesting vege nasi goreng in Sarawak you can't find in the peninsula but I'm not sure how common is it sold in shops - nasi goreng dabai (a fruit that resembles the olive) and nasi goreng bandung/daun ubi. At times, they also have anchovies in them... 13:39 The stall operators were shouting "besai, besai!" which means "big, big!" referring to the big plastic cups. 18:45 "Gula apong" is palm sugar made from the sap of the "apong" palm. It is akin to the gula melaka but it has a more burnt or caramel taste to it.
In miri,u can go to our bazaar ramadan at Permyjaya. Are u guys here in miri already?
You can try to eat lemang with mango and coconut milk. Delicious. 😋
