Hi guys, welcome to my birthplace Sibu. Yes, it was once gangster city since my childhood around 1980s - 1990s, now not anymore. I am Fuzhou ethnic if you don't know yet. Now I work in kuching, still miss Sibu, fond of old memories.
I'm from Kuching but i like Sibu. Sibu have the old times vibes compare to Kuching. People in Sibu are nice and friendly. Like any other places, you'll be safe as long as you don't make trouble.
Tq for sharing nice vlog 😊Sibu is beautiful 🏙. let's explore more & take care guys🌴🌲
Very rare to see a tourist to come to sibu and bintulu.. Miri and Kuching is main for tourist..
Hi, yes new vlog from you guys, my mom & I love to watch your vlogs, keep up the great content! Enjoy your time in Malaysia 👍
Sibu was the gangster city. After the decline in the timber industry, now it is more pleasant to visit. The new gangster city and wild wild west is Bintulu.
In the olden days, commerce was done solely by the Chinese immigrants. The Malays were mostly farmers and/or fishermen while the Dayaks sometimes would come out from their jungle longhouse dwellings and traded wild jungle products. Nowadays, even though Sibu (or any towns in Sarawak) seem to have strong Chinese elements, you will get some Malays and Dayaks participating in commerce too. 2:08 Sibu town started during Charles Brooke, not James if my memory serves me well. 5:23 I’ve bought some kuih lapis from them a few years ago. They were really nice. I do recommend. 😄 13:53 Sibu doesn’t get many foreign tourists, so it’s understandable that they’re curious when they do see some. Behind you is a stall run by a Dayak (obvious from the name 😆).
I first arrived sibu end 2005. Was transfered there by my Co. Heard lots of the foo chow gangsterism there. The first nite there, read news of gangsters fight where a hand was chopped just happened. Hence never really explore the city at night esp the pubs scene. But gradually got to make many friends among the foo chows, Iban native etc.. They are some of the nicest friendly people ever met. Lasted nearly 5 yrs there with great memories...
Hey guys, glad to have you both back, always love "traveling" with you two, take care
Yes..Sibu is famous for Foochow gangster..there are still some Foochow gangster harassing the native away from their land so they can take over to plant palm

But the Dayak people still have their land back ..if Dayak live then no other gangster will take Dayak land as promise by the British ..our land will still until now and then until our grandchildren
In Sarawak, Kueh Lapis is served in probably almost every major ethnic major celebration. Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Gawai. Even as a Sarawakian, I find SIbu different, the vibes is different. A very distinct character. Btw, "sulit" in Bahasa Malaysia is usually meant secret, private. We use "susah" to say difficult

Yay, someone got proposed in front of the majestic and futuristic Petronas Twin Towers in KL, and they are now engaged. Big congrats you guys.
Must visit "Sarawak Cultural Village". You guys will love it.
Hello veggie tour.. Welcome to Sarawak. Best vlog you did there. Watching from Marudi Sarawak
Another great vlog, love your interactions with the locals and you speaking the language I think is appreciated. The road to Sibu from Kuching also had a reputation for bandits who stopped and robbed buses at one time. That market in Sibu is indeed vast, regarding Kek Lapis, my favourite was one with pandan and cheese, but there are a vast number of different flavours, another good one is the classic school pudding flavours of chocolate and mint. Can't say I have tried Midin, which is jungle fern I believe, great thing is, with the diverse culture is the wide variety of food available.
Thanks for sharing my friend!
Welcome enjoy Travelog in Sibu Sarawak 👍😋🤩
Nice mate! just found you guys! We are Veggie too!
17:00 that fish we call "ikan laga"(fighting fish), like a peacock the fish will display its beautiful colorful tail to show dominance when it see other fish
Wait, that tour guide man. I saw him in another tourists video a couple days ago 😂 he really lurking around this area.
Very nice video guys so much fun
You should spend more time in Kuching as there are many more vegetarian food cafes in Kuching. There are three, not three but four vegetarian cafes opposite of our private hospital called Timber Land at 3rd Mile, Kuching. There is a vegetarian cafe at Padungan Road. A friend saw you at the Indah homestay and cafe last Thursday.
the fern you guys eat called midin, the uncle pronounced it in foochow accent. Sibu is a chinese town where 85% population are chinese, mainly Foochow chinese. Buah keranji has two type , one dark brown flesh taste sweet , the other one orange colour flesh taste sour. Good quality buah keranji has thicker flesh & small seed but not ez to find, buah keranji are hard timber wood fruit.
Hai.. Thank for coming
great! I am from Sibu. Welcome to Sibu, hope you love the food there~
Gengster city is just past history of the city long long time ago but not now anymore..Sarawak is very very safe place..we welcome tourist come here visiting us here😊👍

Many probably most Malaysians from Peninsular Malaysia, including yours truly, have not been to Sarawak. So thanks a heap for this glimpse of Sibu - and hopefully other places in Sarawak too...

Hi guys, welcome to Sarawak..❤
i;ve been there long time ago in 2009, yes a bit gangster place... a day before I arrived, there was a murder case a few blocks from my hotel. and I saw a gang fight.... many looked at me with a threatening look, that made me not dare to go out at night. but now it's getting better for sure.
We called sibu LITTLE MEXICO bro........

Sarawak has more of assassinations carried out by hired hitmen using self-made pistol. rarely has news of gangster nowadays.
Next Come to bintulu & Miri ?😊
I personally love Sibu...🥰
kon-miang means male bread, hard and non-sweet. juine-nune-miang means female bread, soft and a little sweet.

Good job
If u want warrior island people also here in Borneo island called sabah (land below the wind)
james brooke acquired sarawak from the sultan of brunei, as a reward for quelling a revolt by the bruneian viceroy ruling sarawak (the people with the abang title). he ruled as an independent white raja but was backed by london all the way and followed the agenda set by the british crown. his nephew charles brooke and grand nephew charles vyner brooke who succeeded him did likewise. after 1946 the brooke family decided to make sarawak a direct british crown colony and this lasted until sarawak gained independence in 1963 as a member country of the federation of malaysia together with sabah and singapore and the 11 states of peninsular malaysia which got independence earlier in 1957.

Generally people are nice. But the environment is quite volatile even though it is peaceful.
Actually in Malaysia, suppressing the Gangsters are JSJN, D7 and D9, if the Dayaks want to do a real war dance, VAT 69 will be there to entertain them.
We come back to Malaysia.😁
My hometown sibu..
I love your videos, especially seeing your beautiful and awesome partner. If you love vegetarians, try Buddhist temples.
