Our First Hari Raya Open House 🇲🇾 | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Vlog 2023 (Eid in Malaysia)
We're excited to share our first open house that Timmy and family kindly invited us to for the First Syawal after Ramadan, a very special occasion as traditionally it's usually only reserved for family but we were fortunate enough to be welcomed to into their lovely home for it.
The food was incredible, the homecooked food is some of the best we had in Malaysia from kuah lodeh, kuah kacang to even a snippet of the rendang. Plenty of longtong, nasi impit and kuih raya! They are a family not only blessed by kindness and good looks, but amazing cooking.
Even some Tapai sprinkled in there!
We are so grateful to them, we felt like we had known them for years despite only meeting that day.

One of the very special things about Malaysia is we have open houses for major festivals and it's open to everyone across all races/religions even foreigners. For Hari Raya, there will be open house. For Chinese New Year and Deepavali, there will also be open houses. These are usually organized by the government, ministers, king/sultan or even political parties. It's our culture here, this is one thing I really like about my country.

@@VeggiesOnTour Quite same. From Bintulu I use coastal road to Miri. Miri is still my favorite city over Kuching bcos of its beaches and close location to Brunei.

Glad you get to experience hari raya. There will be open houses for a month, some people host it on different days because most people go back to their kampung. Sometimes we arranges days with our friends so we dont miss each others open houses. Menu usually differs on each homes. Rendang, ketupat, lemang is a must but each home will serve their home specialty. Fir example, my sis always have mee kari udang, my aunt specialty is daging masak hitam, my friend made lontong etc..
I also hope you have a chance to visit prime minister open house at Kelantan. But please remember if you have a chance to shake PM hand again, dun just say “Terima Kasih”😂😂😂 only. More words from your heart please.

Nice colors you have there. If you are visiting common people you can wear any color you want. unless you are attending the formal royalties event then there will certain protocols to be followed.

The menu for Hari Raya slightly different in East Coast especially Terengganu & Kelantan...we eat Ketupat instead of Lemang...also we eat Gulai dishes, Nasi Dagang or Nasi Minyak...not sayur lodeh, lontong or rendang... Hope you guys can experience Hari Raya in East Coast next time...

Omypreciousketupat! You both looked so handsome gorgeous in the Malay traditional bajus. Beautiful colour choices so soothing pleasing auras. Bright colours project magical happier auras. In the UK its frequently subdued 50 shades of grayish, black-ish, dark blues, maroon-ish etc too sombre as the gloomy weather there😂. Been there, worked there. Witnessed how merry, convivial, spirited the home you're invited to. Similar ambience in most homes thruout Msia whenever there's festive occasions - merriment is order of the day🤗😊
