Our Favorite Martin And Lewis Colgate Comedy Hour Sketches And Naughty Moments!

Ойын-сауық

Kayley and Kayla discuss their favorite Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis comedy sketches on The Colgate Comedy Hour, along with discussing their favorite "doity" moments on the show, that at times pushed the boundaries of the censors on 1950's TV. Some of these moments you might have missed, since they could be double entendres, or sneaked into the scene. We also discuss the guest episodes that Martin and Lewis appeared on, as well as the accusations that Martin and Lewis stole their act from other comedy acts. The discussion is all in fun. The discussion is all in fun, and we definitely did not mention all of our favorite sketches and moments, because we would be filming forever. Enjoy!

Great conversation ladies. Great to see this team getting the respect they deserve. I think the 64Million Dollar sketch might have been their best

Thank you! Yes that is definitely one of their best. Also included in my top 5 are The Engagement sketch which was their very last, and Dean's Honeymoon sketch, where Jerry is the bellboy destroying everything. haha

    1) Jerry drives golf cart into camera 2) "You'll Never Get Away", when Dean forgets his place 3) Jerry wants to be "in the show" (Hi, Neighbor)

All of those! We would literally be there all day discussing all of them. haha I do think we should have remembered to add the driving the golf cart into camera and Dean mouthing "oh shit" as one of the most wildest moments on the show. I think we will probably do another episode, with other people at some point discussing other moments. Those are some of the greatest that you mentioned. :)

The points you ladies made were on point. For some, I was thinking the same thing. Make no bones about it, Jerry Lewis was one edgy comedian who was pushing that envelope back in the day. After all, he did say in an interview their act was sex and slapstick. Great discussion!

You're right! They were definitely one of the first to push the envelope on tv, in a time where many things were censored. Jerry paved the way for so many comedians to run wild and free in front of audiences. Another part of the reason people loved them, is that they could get away with stuff, that no one else could at that time. Glad you enjoyed it!

Do you know if their is a segment available of when Martin and Lewis switched partners and Bud Abbott performed Whos on First? With Jerry Lewis? I belive this was at the Olympics Telethon June 22, 1952

The whole Olympic telethon appearance from that date doesn't have Martin and Lewis with Abbott and Costello. That is the one they appear with Bob Hope, and Bing Crosby who leaves. The entire appearance is in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nGuF0smYgtO1hbQ.html The time that Dean and Jerry filled in for Lou Costello is here, but I don't think that has what you mentioned in it.: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jGVqydeepbqap9o.html Could you be talking about the 100th episode, where Abbott and Costello appeared at some point, as did Martin and Lewis? I know during rehearsal Dean and Jerry went into Abbott and Costello's act as they sat there frozen faced and weren't amused by it. But that didn't air at all.

Another naughty moment from the soda fountain episode. At 4:05 Jerry says "ass cream" instead of ice cream. You can see Dean biting his lip to keep from laughing. kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqOlzLiEecW0o84.html

See I had thought that at first, but now I'm not so sure he says that. I think that one is a moment that people are conflicted about what he says. There was another moment where both Dean and Jerry lose it over something Jerry in a half audible half mumbling way. It happens when the customer, brings their two heads together, right before they bring him the giant malted. I can never make out what he says except "X" is the last word?
