Mrs Cindy 😉 I would never expect her to say, yada yada yada... I'm sure she was proud to this traditional family methods of cooking a ham. And she is right, ham should taste like him, not like candy or anything else 😉
God I miss the Old Southern living. Miss Cindy reminds me of the Ladies that I grew up with as a young boy in rural Virginia. Class, integrity, commanding respect. God bless that Lady.😃

Oh, yes, you are so right! My family is from southern Virginia and I remember the ladies exactly that way, too. Such good manners and the soft, sweet, southern way of speaking. And, no better cooks anywhere!
Love seeing Miss Cindy & the other members of your family. It helps to bring your wonderful stories alive.

Cindy was always a beautiful and Classy Lady!
I’m from a state that produces a lot of pork (Iowa). Our pork producers work very hard to bring quality meat to market. That ham looks so good, and it was fun to see Miss Cindy. I love making ham and scalloped potatoes with leftover ham. Ham and cabbage, onions, carrots, and potatoes (boiled dinner) is also great.

I grew up in Indiana and my mother loved scalloped potatoes and ham, so she liked to make it with leftover ham. As a child I HATED it and now I'd give anything to have it again, made by mother. I'm 67, my mother is gone and I haven't had it in probably 50 years! You just reminded me of that and how spoiled I must have been! Though not TOO spoiled. Mom had a strict "This is what I made for dinner - take it or leave it" policy! LOL
Looks delicious! Mama always does a ham like this at Easter, also served with potato salad and green beans. One of my favorite meals of the year for sure!

It was nice meeting Mrs. Cindy since you always talk about her. I bet she was a fabulous chef. My all time favorite glaze for a whole ham is rub butter, put whole cloves, sprinkle brown sugar, and pour a jar of cherries on top. Soooo good. I guess Katie isn't giving birth in March. I'm giving up. And I'm usually right on predictions. God bless you all
So good to revisit this with the amazing, Miss Cindy. Love the way the ham tuned out ! The smokey , enhanced flavor doesn’t need a glaze . Mmm mmm good

Ms Cindy you are so beautiful! So sweet of you to share your memories of your Dad being the cook. Also how he taught you to cook a ham. I Grammy from Texas
Great video! The ones in your kitchen cooking are my favorites! Enjoyed it so much.
Growing up in the Blue Ridge parts of Virginia,, one of my fondest childhood memories was picking out a ham from the smokehouse, putting it on a spit, and roasting it over a fire of apple tree dead wood.
Another great video. I need to make this! Thank you!
That looks amazing! We’re having a ham on Sunday, thanks to your video. Thanks to Miss Cindy, too.
Oh. My. Goodness! This crazy easy method inspired me to cook my very first ham and have never tasted better in my 70 years of life. Ham and potato salad my Uncle Joe would approve. His wife Aunt May made the ham and Uncle Joe made the potato salad 5 pounds of potatoes at a time, and it was delicious. I don't know how often Aunt May cooked a ham, but I never went fishing with Uncle Joe that he didn't have a couple ham sandwiches for his lunch, on white bread with yellow mustard. Miss Cindy is just lovely.
This was so interesting. Mum used to encase the ham in a dough mixture and slow cook it, then she had to get dad to come in with his hammer to open the dough up, but it was cooked lovely inside there. Cheers from Wendy
