This goat farming makes me very comfortable to watch and learn a lot. She is very efficient , and know how to make us tentative while she is busy milking. I like her idea of goat keeping not to move around while milking and let the girl eat minerals. Kudo !!! ( Bonus- she has great helpers including her hubby and kids. )

You have so many adorable pets and such a beautiful lifestyle. It takes quite a lot of maturity to appreciate such lifestyle. I know about some immature idiots who look down upon truckers , but , shamelessly go to the groceries and feed their families and don't think deep enough on how the stores get their stock. i am planning on getting about 10 acres land in Texas and grow some grains( millets ) , some vegetables, few chickens for eggs and two goats for milk. for personal consumption. Thank you so much for making this video.

We will close on our 10.75 acres in a few days! We purchased the three resident goats, one buck named Abraham ( the father of many generations 😁) , Ms Blue and Ms Brown, who are both with kid 😳🎉 I do believe I’ve found the right place to learn....and quickly. P.S. we love Young Living. Can’t wait to hear how you use with your lucky goats.

I would recommend from my experience to not leave a commercial product like Dawn on the skin and teats of the goat. I bet that the chapping issue on the doe is from the harshness of the soap. :( I rinse my does teats off with clean warm/hot water after washing with a very mild biodegradable few drops of soap in a pint of water that I pour over the washing cloth. My washing liquid also has a squirt or a teaspoon of home made yarrow tincture or yarrow steeped in apple cider vinegar for up to 6 weeks (won't hurt if longer or less time). Healthy skin, it is naturally antibacterial and antiviral, and no 'bug' can ever develop resistance to it.

Fantastic video! I got into milk goats 2 years ago. I’m doing the Sannen goats and love them. I did purchase one of the battery operated milkers from Danish farms. It was around $130 and has been fantastic for 2 years. Super easy to clean and maintain. I can milk 3 goats in about 15 min. I only need to plug it in to charge it about once a week. Just passing along some good info. Thanks sooo much for your video!

Hey guys! I am a mom a grandma and a nurse. They're are 2 tricks I have learned that work like magic. Let me share them with you. 1. For stings... Put bleach on it. If it's a bee Sting, scrape out the stinger with a credit card or drivers license, then put bleach on it. The bleach doesn't have to stay on long. Maybe 20 seconds. Once the Sting has stopped rinse it off. Works like magic. I promise. We have used this for about 35 years. 2. For head bumps If your child falls and hits their head or face, grab a pat or piece of butter and rub it on. The kid won't fight it like they do ice. Ice hurts, its too cold. Rub it in for 30 to 60 seconds. It makes a huge difference. No bruising or tiny bruises when their eyes should be black. This works miracles too. Please share and please try ......

Chick a Woof Ranch what a cute name it makes me smile 😊 I would adore living on a ranch even if its hard work and sometimes very stressful it just seems so nafural bringjng people back close to the land and bringing people awareness that food just doesn't apppear magically at their local grocery stores . I also am an avocate that its especially important to educate young children about where their food comes from and how much blood sweat and tears goes into raising and growing the food that ends up in their cupboards and fridges . Cheers 😊

Just found your channel. So much valuable information. I learned so much; thank you! Subscribed. Will be binge watching all your videos in days & weeks to follow. I do a lot of fermenting (hence my channel). That said, I ferment raw sheep & goat's milk using milk kefir grains. After the milk is fermented, it lasts in the fridge for upwards to 9 months. A nice alternative to freezing milk IF you have extra fridge space. Too, it's probiotic without altering the natural enzymes in the milk.

Great routine! Animals are just like people in that regard! I really love seeing all of these strong, independent women taking care of business on the homestead! I think we (our culture) went through a dangerous period in which we lost touch with a lot of these ways. Glad to see we're turning the corner! And so glad to see y'all are teaching your children! Really like your channel, just subbed....

Looking forward to having my own average one day!! Right now we have 'backyard goats' (Nigerian dwarfs - which I kid share) just 3 and we are pushing it with that. I actually forage for them though the neighborhood...... SO looking forward to having PASTURE!!! thanks for the work you do on your channel!! Oh and I have a bit of udder envy! lol

Thank you for showing the real deal. With my physical limitations, I was very interested to see the entire process, to see if I could take it on, or if I need to put it out of my head. Judging by your video, I think I can hack it, and that makes me so happy! There's only two of us here, with 3 kids on the weekends and school breaks, so I think we'll only need a pair of Nigerian dwarves. And I'm not fooling myself; I'm planning on keeping some of their babies early on. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.

Great video, Wendy! I'm so glad KZread recommended you to me. I've subscribed to your channel. We keep Nigerians Dwarfs. I'm also trying to reduce toxins in our home and barn. I see you're using Animal Scents for udder balm. Another great product to use in the barn is Thieves Household Cleaner. I use it as a spray to clean the udder before and after milking. No more Dawn for me. It's one less thing to haul to the barn. ;) looking forward to watching more of your vids.

Interesting. Do you attempt to keep the bottle warm in the colder months or do you just use it cold? We milk about 8 months a year and we would like to think that the goats appreciate the warm soapy water but if your goats don't have a problem with it... maybe we should look into it. Thank you for watching and subscribing! Just subbed your channel too! Thanks again!

I do not warm it up. When it gets below freezing, I bring the spray bottle into the house. My goats have never had a warm wash so they do not know any better. We milk 1-2 goats at a time. I've not had any health issues with the udders. I think it is doing a great job.

We got up to milking 20 twice a day with 2 people milking. Ee liked to filter each goat into the filter on the storage vessel in the barn so any contaminants were removed as soon as possible. Eventually we were able to get a stainless milk can that could be kept in running cold water so the milk was also cooled as quickly as possible. Our goal was to to produce grade A raw milk. The indication of our success was that the DHIA tester that would weigh and test the milk for butterfat would only drink the milk from three of the herds he tested and ours was one of them and we were the only goat herd. H bought a gallon of milk to take home with him each time.

That's a lot of hand milking!!! We are convinced hand milking is the way to to go if you are interested in hygiene & cleanliness. We have a milking video coming up where we will do some very unscientific testing on how to store and chill raw goat milk. Hope you will return for that video... I would be interested to get your opinion. Thanks for stopping by!!!

Great video, your routine and methods are the same as ours. We have 30 Nubian girls and too many boys! Will be selling some this summer.only thing different is we have built a creamery with dedicated milk room and separate cheese making room. The most we have milked at one time is ten and we have a milking machine to milk up to 2 at a time. I’m with you we are in our 70s and this is a lot of work...used to sell cheese at the farmers market, customers loved it, but we need to slow down, reduce the herd to about 6-8 girls and 1 boy. Thanks for the look at your beautiful girls

Thanks for the kind words Pat. We love having our goats for milk, cheese making, soap making, and general farm entertainment. The creamery sounds awesome. We have downsized our numbers quit a bit since this video and it feels pretty good. Right now looks like we'll only be breeding three does this year. Wanted to breed our La Manchas, but lost our service buck, so maybe purchasing one in the spring.

We loved our saanen. She gave us 3 to 3 1/2 gallons of milk a day. When we freshened her my dad had a friend who wanted the baby. So we left her with her babies for the colostrum and a couple weeks before sending them to dad's friend. But margerine kept us in milk and raised several piglets and a couple rescue deer babies.

Thanks for the video. I am impressed that you can milk for an hour straight every day! However, I can tell you from experience, that your wrists, elbows and even your shoulders will not put up with it forever. The goat milking machines are pretty reasonable on Amazon, probably less than the cost of one visit to the orthopedic. You may want to consider this as an option.
