I’ve looked at his coaching experience and am left wondering why he’s not the US coach. He’s managed some decent teams in Europe as well as being the US assistant coach in 2010.

Why do every analysis make the excuse of teams getting a red card is the reason Canada advanced. Teams being down a man is not Canada's problem, it just meant that Canada played well enough that these teams felt the need to commit the fouls. Canada was simply more discipline. As for the goal department, sure it would've been great if Canada capitalized on their scoring chances but if you look at that group, other than Argentina the rest of the teams struggled to score as well. Argentina advanced with the lowest goal scored of all the teams that topped their groups, this was simply a very defensive oriented group stage.

The first yellow card was dubious - one of those that usually refs don't give that early in the game. The second was complete bs. If you think they were both deserved, then you need to spend a bit more time learning football.

Ya, and 3 months ago, Uruguay tied Basque Country, then lost to Ivory Coast 2-1, then tied Costa Rica 1-1. Plus a few months before Uruguay best Argentina, Argentina spanked them 3-0 in Uruguay. Of a combined 11 Brazil would have the advantage with the exception of maybe Núñez and Federico Valverde, rodrygo, martinili, sevinho, endrick, still plenty of attacking options also goalkeeper allison advantage, Gabriel’s , militao, and Marquinhos defensive advantage

1) I doubt Messi will start vs Ecuador. I think he'll be on the bench and only come on in the second half if/when necessary. We may see Alvarez and Lautaro starting together. *Argentina* should still win, though. 2) Venezuela vs Canada should be a banger. Canada with its high pace and directness, but lacking in the goalscoring department vs Venezuela with its all-round solidity. Overall quality: *Venezuela* 3) *Colombia* should crush Panama. Colombia are so damn good. Unquestionably the hottest national team in the world. 4) Uruguay didn't look that great vs the USA, but then it was one of those games they didn't have to win. This may be a very 50/50 type game. Although I do think that if Brazil doesn't start well, they could collapse due to the negative vibes around the team. Vini being excluded is the perfect time to just go for it, so I hope Dorival is brave and starts Savio and Endrick. Do I expect Dorival to do that, though? Of course not. Advantage *Uruguay.*

I also heard that Lautaro will be paired together with Alvarez, with Messi being subbed in at 2nd half. It's possible if they play a 4-3-3, and put Gonzalez as the 3rd fwd, but they may also do a 4-4-2, and include DiMaria at left mid. Both would work.

the problem with Colombia is that I don't see them winning the final against an hypothetical Argentina, why? first of all a semifinal against Brazil or Uruguay will be a huge physical toll on the players, to win you will have to give your all and reaching a final in that way while you expect Argentina to walk to the final will be a huge factor specially with how tied these games are, the second reason is that Colombia has never been a cup winning team, they always loose important matches, they are unable to take that step further, Urguay or Brazil would be much tougher matches for Argentina

But wait didn't Ecuador play Venezuela one man short because Valencia got a red card at the 20 minute mark? Yet they still got scored on but was able to win the match 2-1? Nice and calm assessment but unfortunately they know very little about football (soccer in America). Argentina and Colombia will advanced without much of an effort. Canada vs Venezuela is intriguing. Venezuela hasn’t played much against teams that are physical although rough around the edges, typical European style, but I give the edge to the South Americans. Uruguay versus Brazil became the nightmare of Conmebol. They weren’t expecting to see this confrontation until the semifinal and yet is happening at the quarterfinal stage. These two guys making the predictions are certainly not familiar with the rivalry between Uruguay, Brasil and Argentina. This is a rivalry that goes as far back as 125 years ago. All three are World Cup Champions more than once, all three have won Copa America several times and when they play against each other there’s passion, dislike of one another and hate. After the game is over we become the best of friends again. These three nations love one another except when football comes into the mix. Brasil vs Uruguay has no true favorite. Anything can happen! The same will happen if either of these two make it to the final against Argentina. As for Colombia, sure, they could make it to the final, but I doubt it. Although they are playing well, they are just pretenders with no pedigree and no history to back it up. Colombia is playing so well that they were unable to beat the worst Brazilian team in over 60 years. A Rio de La Plata final between Argentina and Uruguay or a rematch final between Argentina and Brasil are most likely. Either way, if one has a cardiac condition will be better not to watch it!
