Nate's answers are so entitled and straight up harmful sometimes. The answer to differing sex drives isn't about picking one or the other. It's such a blockhead answer that you should ignore how you feel and just cater to the higher sex drive. Obligation sex totally kills libido. Yes there are sacrifices to be made for one another but that absolutely goes both ways. There are a ton of factors that affect libido and all of those are a part of the process of truly knowing one another, which is what biblical sex is about (are you working together to make sex pleasurable for both parties, going beyond just intercourse for example). Also, his simplification of the woman greatly suffering after a traumatic birth experience was incredibly misinformed and dispassionate. Physical pain absolutely isn't the only factor that should be given the time of day or worked on together as a couple. He seems to assume that less libido is an intentional spiteful choice and he jumped to this same assumption with the woman suffering post partum issues. So gross to assume this woman would just choose that. She should seek counsel/therapy as these are real issues along the lines of ptsd and her partner should absolutely support the journey to recovery. The desire for sex should never trump someone's emotional and physical health, otherwise it is simply using your spouse at their expense. I understand it may seem like I'm overanalyzing these responses, but if you're going to be a voice into people's lives you should consider the massive weight and if you don't have knowledge on a serious subject maybe take a pass on providing responses. Also, maybe consider your stance on the obligation sex message, cuz you're signing the sex drive death warrant.

I hope my comment didn't come off too angry, I've just come to realize a lot of the unhealthy positions that really harm people's marriages (mine included, married to an incredible guy but I had internalized these messages and it caused a ton a problems). The author Sheila Wray Gregoire & her book The Great Sex Rescue helped me a ton. It's worth checking out or even just looking at her Facebook page or blog and the resources there. So Nate’s advice is to lean into the person who wants intimacy…. AKA just do it. If your partner isn’t in the mood to have sex, just don’t have sex that night? That answer disturbed me

  • @vivaeuropa

    @vivaeuropa

    Жыл бұрын

It's biblical not to refrain from sex unless it's agreed upon both and for a limited time. If you're truly exhausted then of course your spouse should take into consideration your needs. However simply not being in the mood can be a demonic influence in your mind because Satan wants us out of the bed in marriage because it bonds the spouses together. So not being in the mood can turn into a sinful habit of depriving sex from your spouse if you're not in the mood often. Sometimes just being open to trying to get in the mood with foreplay will get you in the mood and you'll be more happy you did it then not or simply speak life into your mind and convince yourself that you aren't too tired, you are in the mood, you want to be intimate with your spouse etc and your mindstate likely will lead to your actions.

19:55 Not gonna lie, that response was pretty weird to me. Seeing how emotional you were at Sutton's first birth, I felt you'd be a bit more empathetic on this. I'll never know what it's like to give birth, but whether it's physical or mental pain, it shouldn't be something the mentioned woman needs to just "figure out herself" because through comforting, consoling, and prayer, that should be a family affair. I think we all can agree sex in a marriage is important, but her issue seems further than just a lack of desire that needs to be rectified with getting back into action, but genuine consolation and mental counseling with her spouse for whatever happened during childbirth.

Halston's birth (2nd child) was extremely traumatic & she mentioned it at the very end but was cut off after one sentence. They have tons of edits & there's absolutely nothing wrong with that but I do feel curious sometimes why some cuts are made. Same with the depression question~ Nate has stated in a past video that he was feeling sui$idal in his past and that he felt shame about that. I guess he didn't want to discuss it again because she turned to him acknowledging he's struggled in this area and his reaction, or non-reaction, was enough to keep her talking.

I don’t know what they said in that cut but the big smile on his face did give me a yucky feeling. The answers to all of the sex questions lately have left something out for sure, I can’t pretend I know Nate’s heart but I do know that to me at least, it comes across as “the man wants sex, the man gets sex.” There’s no MUTUAL submission in that. I respect Nate and Sutton and enjoy their videos but a few here lately have left me feeling squirmy.

Well, I can say it's also not always the husband in marriage, who wants sex more often. I found a bit weird, that they mentioned "the one partner" and in a minute it became cruel denying from women, which Sutton clearly didn't agree with too much, but for Nate its like "men are men, haha, we must teach our wives"... In my marriage, it usually depends on my health issues - when I'm not feeling so well, my husband absolutely respects it, but when I was healthy for some time, it was usually about me wanting sex and him not feeling it some days. It can be really stressful for a woman ("I was told that men always want sex, so what's wrong, is he not attracted to me anymore?") and I'm so grateful that we have the mutual experience on both sides, because we can learn patience from each other.

Nate’s answers to the questions regarding intimacy and sex were a little uncomfortable to me, like with if your partner isn’t in the mood and you are you should just do it because the other one wants to feels icky, especially the other question about the traumatic birth experience and him instantly invalidating her struggles if it’s not a physical pain- like sauinh her mental pain was the equivalent of a “ew get away from me” was so odd.. like she said the word ‘traumatic’ and instead of sympathizing w that emotion he said it’s HER issue she should figure out ans almost kinda siding w her husband which i find so sad..i would hope a husband would sympathize and wouldn’t even want to have sex with his wife if it’s causing her emotional pain so that was honestly a bit of a shock to hear from Nate since I did expect him to be sympathetic. I loved Sutton’s answers, even though she doesn’t always fully understand she does give great advice and recommends places to go to get better advice in the times where she can’t provide the best herself.

However, especially on the mental health questions (anxiety/ depression and birth trauma) I would definitely add on to your answers to seek out the help of a professional psychotherapist. I know that´s not too popular among Christians but if you are struggling with something mental health related right now, please don´t try to get through it without professional help! Oftentimes that makes it a lot worse. God can really use people like that to make you better again, so if you are going through something like this, please seek out psychotherapy! I wish you guys all the best and may God bless you.

In regards to anxiety and depression I agree that you should educate yourselves on the topic. I admire you guys but I do remember Nate saying on one video that he felt ashamed to admit that he had suicidal thoughts. There is nothing to be ashamed of about having anxiety and depression including intrusive thoughts. This is still an stigma especially among Christians. There are many reasons why people suffer these disorders, chemical imbalances, genetics or even trauma. Please guys be careful on the advice you give to Christian people, if you don’t know just leave at that. This is not to attack you, this comes from love and respect.

As a person who has dealt with severe depression and anxiety, I’d advise seeing a Christian, mental health professional. Severe depression isn’t healed by just cheering up, being silly and shaking your butt. 😊 It can be a chemical imbalance but usually it’s a combination of physical, emotional and spiritual issues and it important to address and work on all of those area. I know you mean well with your answers but it might not hurt to educate yourself a bit in areas you don’t have personal experience. Blessings,

It was interesting because, in a previous video, Nate said he was embarrassed or ashamed (maybe both, I'd have to watch again) to admit he did feel temptation to take his life in the past. Sutton alluded to this directly after she posed the question by mentioning the fact he struggled with depression in the past but his reaction, or non-reaction, was enough to tell her he didn't want to discuss it. That's completely his right and understandable but I feel it's a missed opportunity in many ways.

🚩 Seek medical advice if you are depressed just as you would if you were sick. There are a lot of reasons for depression, both mental and physical such as hormonal imbalance, postpartum depression, brain tumors etc. Seek help and proper treatment. Advising someone to only exercise and seek the lord may be well meaning but extremely harmful. Pray and go to church in addition to your treatment just as you would if you broke your leg.

I think most of your videos are really great and I love that you are so open about your faith and your convictions. However, I sometimes hope the blunt things Nate says are just to get more comments. I can't imagine a loving husband would ask his wife who had gone through a very traumatic birth experience to just push away her feelings and have sex with her husband anyways regardless of the anxiety it comes with. I understand there are times when a woman or a man should be self sacrificing when it comes sex, but this a bit extreme. I don't care if there is pain involved or not. You should want to love your wife with sex, loving her isn't pushing her into traumatic sex

As one that has struggled with anxiety and depression, I'm sorry but that isn't the most helpful advice. I know y'all stated you haven't really been through it which honestly praise the Lord for that! My advice would be to seek help. There's nothing wrong with counseling and medication to help you feel better. It's NOT a spiritual problem, it's a mental problem. Yes, prayer can help but read your bible more, pray more is not helping us! Even working out. I hate when folks tell me to "work out" as a cure all for depression and anxiety. Most of the time I can't even mentally or physically even think about working out when I'm in my worse states. It's just not feasible. I know y'all mean well, but lack of understanding and trying to give advice on something you don't fully understand can be hurtful and do more harm than good.

Great advice y’all, I’d just like to add to what y’all already said about anxiety and depression, I have a history of that especially depression, even as a kid I was very depressed and suicidal for most of my childhood and teenage years as well, after I got married I was no longer suicidal but would easily slip into depression, but it didn’t seem to be as bad as it was as a child and teenager, my husband is a very positive person and that helped me so so much he’s also a very good listener so when I shared with him how i felt about what I said or someone else said to me he’d be like no I don’t think they meant it that way and he’d tell me how he understood what they said, that helped a lot but I’ve also gone thru having cancer and after having a major surgery I was just very depressed and I had no idea why, so I started taking vitamin B complex and that just helps extremely much, recently I almost lost my husband due to covid and had to take care of him and the yard and Annimals and our kids all by myself and just found it really stressful so after he recovered I realized I just constantly felt like life just has no purpose and is completely meaningless and God is just really far away and doesn’t hear me but now I know whenever I feel that way, vitamin b complex just really helps for depression so as long as I keep up with taking it I don’t have the issue,

16:48 idk if God will necessarily always take away our temptations. No matter what they are. He will ALWAYS give us strength & power to overcome them in the moment of temptation (if we turn to him for that), and they may come less and less often. (And maybe He *will* take it away for some ppl). But He won’t necessarily ALWAYS take them away. Sometimes we have them in order to be more compassionate toward others & help others struggling in the same or similar ways.

"Holy" communion in catholicism is not represented in the way that Jesus said it should be at the last supper. I am simply a Bible-believing, born-again Christ follower. I don't need a priest or any man to be an intermediary between me and Jesus, but rather take the case right to Him.

I think dealing with depression as a christian has a lot of other different questions that come with it. Is the depression because you are committing sin and you feel guilty. Or is it depression based on what is going on in your life, family, work, etc. those things need to be figured out what is causing you to be depressed.

For those dealing with anxiety and or depression there's safety in the counsel of the wise. So along with prayer, reading the Bible, you may consider seeking counseling (preferably Christian-based), or a trusted/ Christian small group. Laughter can be medicine so try to find something to laugh at everyday. And get some fresh air i.e. vitamin d. Additionally, forgiveness does not necessarily mean reconciliation. Why am I letting fear get to me like this? Right now I’m having a bad anxiety moment because I feel like I just messed up. A big part of the problem is that I didn’t think I was isolated, but I am. My Dad is the person I talk to the most, but we rarely get to talk. Normally it helps me feel better to text it to him, but he’s busy right now so I thought I would do this. It’s not helping the same way it did then. When I texted him I knew instantly that it was all lies and that I was going to make it. I’m calling out to God, but I’m not hearing Him right now. I enjoy both of your personalities, but I just don’t vibe with how Nate goes about his advice. These topics are incredibly difficult to navigate for most people going through them and saying to “pray” and strengthen their relationship with God (or whatever the correct verbiage was used) just isn’t sound advice at all. If anything, it makes people feel invalid in their feelings even more. I think there needs to be more empathy when giving advice and maybe a bit more pondering before sharing whatever you want to say to thousands of people. Nate comes off as if he’s never really had struggles and if he did, then consulting his bible and reciting a prayer was the simple cure to them. This doesn’t make me want to listen to the advice coming from this individual, and that’s ok. I’m sure that’s ok for him too. I appreciate how Sutton gives advice founded in her beliefs, yet exudes empathy and shows that she’s human too. Ok, that’s all.

Im in Florida, my son is 12 and I constantly “fight” in scenarios where my son is heavily exposed to things I don’t agree with. Some of which are pedophilic tendencies (and I’m not exaggerating) from the only music teacher in the school (so every kid had to go through him at some point) and all of the adults defending the gender pronoun trend by saying that my son is a bully and/or mentally unstable. Im even to the point of custody battle because his dad thinks the same way, too… so PLEASE think about leaning more into homeschooling! Prayers up! About depression and anxiety: I’m glad you brought up the oxygen stuff. I got that from Terrance McKenna because I used to do drugs (medication for depression) and experienced severe panic attacks then too! And he had that theory, said to sing to music you like that’ll lift you back up. My personal take on that these days is 100% to BE GRATEFUL! Every chance you get. Gratefulness will lead to a happier life, being mindful of the good things around you minimal as they may be and it definitely makes a huge difference. Many blessings!

I came out of the education system that I worked in for over 20 years believe me there is a lot of indoctrination happening that has definitely influenced kids to turn away from their faith. I am not pointing at everyone's children or situations but I saw a lot of it and evolution especially is even being taught in so called "faith based" schools. I worked with teachers who claimed a faith in Christ yet believed in the big bang? I would pray to the Father and ask him which direction he wants you to go. God led me and my young child out of school and into home-schooling where my child is thriving more than ever before. While I am not naive in believing this is God's will for everyone I do think the schooling years take up such a chunk of our children's lives and being present in teaching our children as much as we can (weather that is home-schooling or not) is so very important. God bless.

I disagree with same sex attraction being a sin, but I can respect why you would feel that way. However, I wish more empathy was extended. Imagine being told you cannot love the person you love, and have to live a life of celibacy or “try” to have sex with a gender you are not attracted to whatsoever. A lot of Christians talk about being single, because it is hard to stay “pure” and we crave deep and intimate connection. Can’t you see how telling a gay person to live an entire life like that is daunting, when so many Christians find it daunting to be single for part of their life? It’s also not a choice, just like your sexuality isn’t a choice.

Sin is sin in God's eyes. Resisting same sex lust is the same as resisting heterosexual lust outside marriage. God instituted marriage between man and woman. The beauty of repenting toward God and believing on Jesus Christ, is that He will give the believer a new heart with new desires. The truly born- again Christian will not want to come against God and His commandments. It doesn't mean they will be perfect or happen overnight, but they will flee from sin and repent when and if it occurs. The Lord is longsuffering and patient and kind...

@@mrs.jaywojo5426 Okay, but the idea is that if having sex with the same gender is a sin, then a gay person is destined for a life of celibacy. Straight couples can have sex within the confines of marriage. So we have one person who cannot have sex or express their attraction or love in other ways *ever*, while the other cannot have sex until marriage. That’s a significant difference, especially when considering one’s sexuality isn’t a choice. I’m saying Christians should have more empathy for that, especially when it is the experience of many Christians to struggle greatly in remaining celibate before marriage.

@@angelamartinez9480 No, you are forgetting that when one is born -again, God gives the person a new heart with new desires, driving them from their lusts - whether that lust is drugs, same or hetero sex, porn, covetousness, jealousy, and so on. Not every heterosexual person marries, and therefore they must abstain from sex, too, so it isn't just people who think or feel they are gay. When one is born again, they accept God's laws and commandments. Like I said it isn't like its is "poof" magic, free from sin, but rather one walks with God letting the Holy Spirit lead them. Every day is a battle against the flesh - but rather than giving unto the fleshly, physical desires, the Christian pursues the Holy Spirit and aims to walk in the Lord's precepts. Read Romans in the Bible if you are curious. Here are some verses from the Bible that I hope touch your heart: O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalms 34: 3-4 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 4:10 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, Ephesians 3:17 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude 1:21 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. I have done some terrible things that I deeply regret and were the antithesis of God's law. Through Jesus Christ, I am redeemed, my terrible, sinful nature is erased. When God looks at me now, He doesn't see my fallen, filthy sin, but rather the righteousness and goodness of Jesus on the cross - a sinless Son of God dying and taking on Himself, the punishment I deserve. When one stops looking at the very finite fleshly lusts of now, and grasps the vastness of eternity and where one wants to be - I know I want to be in heaven with my Creator. Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom... (Fear in this context means awe and reverence). Acting on gay lusts is a choice, the same as it is a choice for premarital sex, adultery, etc. Sin is bondage - unchecked, we become slaves to our sins, justifying ourselves, never seeing the broken piece in us. Don't let your heart harden... but rather soften toward Jesus. If you don't understand or agree, and sincerely want to know why God is the way He is, just ask Him to show you. He will. God bless you and please know that all one needs to do to be saved is to repent (turn away from) their sin towards God and believe in the blood that Jesus Christ shed on the cross for ALL of our sins.
