O throat singing é usado em canções por praticamente todas as culturas tribais da eurasia. até os vikings cantavam assim. Todos os integrantes do grupo são nativos dos grupos etnicos Chulym, Ket, Khakas, Dolgan e Selkup. Otyken é uma palavra chulym que significa terra sagrada e, salvo engano, as musicas são cantadas em chulym também. O grupo foi formado com o propósito de preservar a cultura dos povos indígenas da siberia que está perto da extinção. Esse grupo foi umas das melhores descobertas que eu fiz nesses ultimos tempos.

Este istrume é chamado de khomuz ou harpa. Depende da região. Além disso, a região onde o utilizo é enorme, não menos que a América do Sul em área.

I have the impression that there is a deep message in the video of the group. This siberian group is singing close to a large city (perhaps Krasnoyarsk?), living their culture, This culture is threatened by the russian culture. Agressive russian boys are approaching to beet them up. Then they start dancing to the musik and some shy kissing. Beautiful native girls/women (and a guy with great throat singing) with beautiful clothing turn agressive boys into peaceful and friendly boys/men. This song is even more peaceful if the information is correct, that many of the russian military in the ukrainian "meetgrinder" come from this area. Strange that they are allowed to perform in Moskau and St.Petersburg Is this siberian way of "Make love not war?" I love this group and wish them all the best.
