I'v been to their live concerts twice. They are legit. They are using all this custom instruments through effect pedal chains. Drums have pickups and used as inputs for drum machines + they use synths and samples. Two string guitar (khomys), horned violin (morinhuur), jaw harp (vargan) are absolutely legit.

Otyken are real, they don't need to immitate the indigenious music (like many do), they are real childs of the Nature! And they are brave enough to mix different styles, to use modern vibes & instruments (synthesizer, saxophone, etc.), to make collaborations. I like the seriousness of the topics they raise in their artwork. Don't miss their composition Genesis, it received Grammy award in 2022. There are two different clips with this song (one of them is using AI), live versions are also available on YT.

This language is disappearing. About 40 thousand people remained of this people, and only 48 people speak their native Chulym language. They are related to the North American Indians. There are about 200 nationalities living in Russia with their own languages.

They use a mix of modern and traditional instruments. Their MV's include layerings of both. "What the heck is that?" That is a jaw harp or"jew's harp", which is traditional in many central Asian cultures.

Paradise Losts and Pulse is amazing. Their new colab with Ummet Ozcan is really good too called Altay. Check out Pulse and or Paradise Lost of their official MV that is LIVE. You will see what they use. They do change it up a lot as not all members can make the concerts all the time. Because they have village jobs other than doing their music. So their concerts could have 12 - 8 members. It is a mouth harp. I got Otyken and BABYMETAL on heavy rotation.

OH-TOO-KEN with emphasis on the first syllable (long O sound). At least that's my interpretation based on the pronunciation of Cyrillic letters. Also, that's how they pronounce it in their Kykakacha video.

These peoples in Russia are similar to the Indians, the Russians never tried to assimilate these peoples, so they still believe in God Tengri, pray to spirits and wear traditional costumes, and there are those who live in yurts, not in stone houses. or made of wood, although mostly, of course, they live in apartments, and their children go to Russian schools.

@@nadiravc5958 I don't know where the Russian lies are boiling. In Russia, everyone knows that in ancient times there was a Turkic khaganate on the site of present-day Mongolia and Altai. Then there was the Kyrgyz Khanate in this place. Then the Turkic peoples moved west and conquered Central Asia, founded the Ottoman Empire, the Empire of Tamerlane, and the Golden Horde. It was German historians who invented the Mongol-Tatar invasion in the 15th century. Genghis is a Turkic name, Khan is the ruler in Turkic. Tatars or Tartars in Greek mythology, the land beyond hell, the kingdom of Hades. The Mongols came to the site of present-day Mongolia only in the 13th century from China

@@nadiravc5958 Lies are boiling not in Russia, but around it. In Russia, the Turkic peoples and Islam are treated with great respect. There has never been hostility between Orthodox and Muslims. There are 2 republics in Siberia as part of a Federation with a Turkic-speaking population. This is Khakassia, where the Khakas live and Altai, where the Altaians live. In the European part, Turkic peoples live in the republics of Tatarstan and Bashkiria. In all these republics, Turkic languages with a foreign dialect are state languages along with Russian. In the Republic of Crimea, only under Russia, the Crimean Tatar language became the state language along with Russian and Ukrainian.

Otyken are a group from remote central Siberia. They are all members of small tribes (Chulym, Ket, Selkup, Tuvan, etc.) There are just over 200 native speakers of the Chulym language left in the world. Like other tribes in the region, they were decimated by centuries of invasion and war, and more recently by the rampant environmental destruction under Soviet and Russian rule. They play authentic traditional instruments, made by the band-members and their families. The artists also sew their own costumes. These are based on traditional indigenous outfits, but incorporate attributes of several Siberian tribes at once. They want to be ambassadors for all of the indigenous people of the region. Their instruments include: ikili (a two-stringed bowed instrument used in Siberia, similar to the Mongolian morin khuur); khomys (jew’s harp); rattles similar to maracas and tambourines; a local variant of the mandolin; and several kinds of drums, as well as modern electric bass guitar and electronic keyboard/synthesizer. They occasionally play a saxophone they found abandoned in the forest near one of their villages. The best description of their ikili is “You look like someone who no one should mess with when you have an instrument that’s made out of a freakin’ BEAST!” Otyken incorporate throat singing and chanting into their vocals, as well as imitating wild animal sounds and bird calls. When they were founded, they started off doing straight-up folk music. When they began to add a fusion of folk with modern rock sounds, they found themselves attracting fans from all over the world. They are fully aware that their language is dying. Part of their purpose in performing and recording their music is to leave behind a record of their culture before they disappear. To date, they have released tracks mainly in Chulym, but also in Khakass, and one song in Russian, addressed to the people who took their land. As they say in “Paradise Lost”: “The land is yours now, but the sky is ours.”

Another victim of Western propaganda. Especially your opinions about the Soviet period. Read more, just not the fake wikipedia. It was thanks to the Soviet period that indigenous small people preserved their identity and culture, unlike in America, where Indians were mercilessly slaughtered by white colonialists. Learn history, teach and do not read the media that represent us, Russian, as the fields of hell. Watch thousands of videos on KZread, where normal people move to "cursed" Russia with their families. Away from your dying West.
