I think what it is, outside the context of the movie, is women tend to be rather sheltered from men's experiences, our hardships and struggles, only ever seeing the fruit of our labor, seldom the toil, and so there is a pretty big disconnect there that leads women to not understand what an accomplishment of this magnitude represents, much less the blood, sweat, tears that went into building it, or worse, assume it was easy or not that great. It’s an amazing character detail with how Otto’s arrogance and ego is explained with that one line: “The power of the sun, in the palm of my hand”. Otto’s not just doing this for the good of mankind, as also evidenced by his refusal to shut down the machine. He’s subconsciously doing it to prove how great his genius is. It’s this very ego that leads him to be corrupted by the arms in the first place. They’re just enhancing this darker side within him. They were programmed by him to solely complete this experiment, and because Otto wanted to complete it at all costs, now they’re gonna force him to in order to fulfill their own purpose.

Have you ever thought about how all the weight from those arms is transferred to the ground? This man NEVER skipped legday

Obviously they don't weigh anything. The arms were all behind him at the start, and he would have fallen backwards due to his centre of gravity being off if they had any weight. They're magic feather arms.
@ProPuke

@@plato9070 Or maybe his schlong! Maybe when he puts the arms on it deploys forward to offset the weight! To use the arms like that he just has to maintain a permanent boner. That's the real reason everyone looks so surprised.
I honestly love the bulk these mechanical arms have, they really help make them come off as machinery and seem more realistic and not some fantastical super machine. It also makes it seem more intimidating and that they can do a lot more damage
One of the greatest castings in a comic book movie.
Otto: ''The power of the sun'' Peter: ''In the palm of my hand'' NWH did a fantastic job reuniting Tobey and Alfred together again that moment put a smile on my face in the theater just seeing them talk to each other and catch up on old times while possibly starting over as friends gets me excited for more spider-man movies like this in the future
