Nice video. Remember Bloukrants crossing is a stressful day. I have seen experience hikers tummy running before the crossing especially if there is people in the group that can't swim. But it is the best day for me.

Day 4 for me was very long and tiring and my legs were finished by the time we got to Andre hut. But I will never forget how intense the climb was on day 2 after blue Bay! That was a total shock to the system! The whole thing was magical though and I would do it again in a heartbeat! I highly recommend this trail but I also recommend a good fitness level because it makes it just a bit more enjoyable 😁

Try crossing when it's a leap tide just after all the sand banks have washed away, then you have to swim over

Yes, I have experienced that on the Otter Trail Run. I was very glad that they had a rope set up!

When we went across 7 odd years ago, the guys didn't want to wake up early, so we decided to just wing it when we arrive. We had to swim over using the backpacks in drybags as floating devices. Luckily no strong currents in and out the mouth at the time.

Hi Ruth! Could this trail be done 3 months pregnant? Any other trails you recommend in South Africa that would be fit for pregnancy? For someone who exercises and is healthy?

Hi there! One of the ladies that was hiking this trail with me was actually pregnant at the time. I think the best would be to clear it with your doctor beforehand, as some people would be fine and some people would struggle.
