  The beauty with these fully covered tents is the condensation that builds up on the inside of the outside full cover. This in turn will run and drip in to the inner tent area wetting your gear and flooring. This is the ultimate tent failure in most models.

  You can peg it closed at one or both ends. Leave a all opening both ends for air it's plastic. It'd a whole lot warmer in the cold if you do.

  Interesting. GP is full of these random short hiking spots, I've noticed. In South JHB there's Thaba Trails where you see tons of hartebeest, although it's mostly a bike track.

  Air tents are the way to go these days. We love going away on weekends but the rainy season has just started. And there's nothing worse than having to pack up a wet tent. Then the next day if you have room in your backyard having to set it up and hope the rain doesn't come again to dry out.

  I had my lashes colored , used a light tinted sunscreen 50+ and a good lipbalm for the extreme conditions.

  Hey Ruth, we were hiking while you guys were running and the day after. I the terrain was muddy and slippery for two days. It was rough. Hope you enjoyed the race though
