Oshi no Ko gets so caught up in the ins and outs of the entertainment industry that its premise becomes an afterthought.

So much, yeah. The lightheartedness truly disatisfied me. Especially since I binged the manga.

The manga's selling like crazy in Japan. I'm sure I'd binge it if I picked it up. We'll see how the anime does next season/part/cour.

True. For a good murder mystery, I read Natsume Arata no Kekkon which unfortunately has a terrible and slow fan translation and no official translation (probably) because Western anime fans hate fun. Oh and saying Oshi no Ko has a murder "mystery" aspect is kind of funny in hindsight, since later in the manga *minor(?) spoiler ahead* . . . . . . . The culprit just gets unceremoniously revealed. I guess you could say there is some mystery about the motives but those are also getting slowly and very unceremoniously revealed in the background of everything else that's going on.
