Our training style might or will be different from other OSCE facilitators but we all share the same concept of basing everything by NMC Code and the OSCE marking criteria.

Miss Audrey, just a clarification po for Subcutaneous Injection (based on Adult Nursing Marking Criteria ToC 2021_V2.3 (Updated December 2023), after cleaning hands and wearing gloves before assessing the site, we have to clean hands again and don gloves before assembling equipment and while preparing the medication??? Here's the excerpt: Here's the excerpt: Step 4 Cleans hands with alcohol hand rub, or washes with soap and water and dries with paper towels following WHO guidelines. Dons a disposable plastic apron. 5 Closes the curtains/door and assists the person into the required position. Removes the appropriate garment to expose injection site. 6 Assesses the injection site for signs of inflammation, oedema, infection and skin lesions. Rotates injection sites if having regular injections. 7 Cleans hands with alcohol hand rub, or washes with soap and water and dries with paper towels. Dons non-sterile gloves. 8 States would assess the cleanliness of the injection site. States that if the site is clean there would be no need to clean, however if required would clean with a swab saturated with isopropyl alcohol 70% for 30 seconds and allows to dry for 30 seconds. 9 Assembles equipment required and prepares medication using non-touch technique. After reading your prescription > Hand Hygiene > Apron + GLOVES > Verbalise that you have already (1) closed the door/curtain (2) ask the patient to either sit up or lie down (3) that you have asked patient to roll up their sleeves/you can roll it up too if you want > Visually assess the sites for inflammation, oedema, infection and skin lesion + verbalising the need to rotate sites to prevent tissue damage > REMOVE GLOVES but keep apron on > Hand Hygiene > put new gloves on > continue with Subcutaneous Marking Criteria Steps 8 onwards

Meaning your thumb should still be covering the valve from the suction catheter as you are suctioning.

6 right were done in the video when I asked for the patient’s name/DOB/allergy + drug + dose + route of administration + frequency of meds to give +/- diluent is needed.
