Hit The Kitch with Molly Baz as she makes ORZO AL LIMONE!
In this ep, Molly makes one of the simplest, quickest, highest reward dishes in the game, Orzo al Limone. It’s what happens when you combine classic risotto with pasta al limone, and give it the orzo treatment instead of using rice. The whole dish comes together in less than 15 minutes, no constant stirring needed. It is buttery, lemony and cheesy all at once-a perfect pasta dish for the weekly rotaysh. 21⁄2 ounces grated Parmesan cheese (about 3⁄4 cup), plus more for serving

Holy cow I actually have my own version of this dish, Molly!! One day, I was making avgolemono soup, but decided to triple the quantity of orzo. All of a sudden, I had a lemon-y and egg-thickened pasta dish. I finished it with black pepper and parmesan and it was so great. Make it all the time.
Made this last night for Sunday dinner...was a HUGE hit. Topped it with a piece of salmon and it worked soooo well together. Even my picky kids were gobbling it up, can't recommend this enough.
I made this TODAY for the holiday and it was the most-loved side dish. There were leftovers that are already gone. This will be a holiday (and weekly) staple moving forward!

Molly is very creative, I've never seen this - not even in Napoli. I was born south of Rome, they usually use orzo for chicken soup there. I had Milanese beet root risotto a few weeks ago.

I totally agree with you on the risotto status. Savory risotto dishes should not feel like rice pudding(which I love). I just can’t… too thick, heavy, sometimes gloopy… love orzo so I can’t wait to try this.

Thank you for giving Orzo pasta the respect it deserves. I am Italian, and I agree, to us pasta salad is an abomination, so this video is beautiful. I always enjoyed your presentations at BA and now here, you understand the Italian sensibility at a cellular level. Brava! (BTW, it lloks like rice, but 'orzo' means barley in Italian).

Im sicilian and we eat pasta salad a lot in the summer especially at the beach! I don’t think it’s an abomination! Though we don’t usually use orzo for this

I'll say, everything in your book comes out PERFECT, it's so well-edited and well-written. But this was the one thing that flopped for me! My sauce totally broke and my cheese clumped up and it was still delicious, but not quite as intended. Watching this video, I'll have to revisit it!!

Tried it, but my water was no way gone after 9 minutes, while my orzo was already cooked. Ended up with soup... And I did keep a good boil going the whole time...

They don’t mention it much cause they were all complicit in maintaining the status quo and didn’t support their colleagues until it broke publicly. With time they will slowly acknowledge it more and more and may even return for specials. BA is run by a totally different team now with a lot more women and POC and maybe could use the support…
its not really a one pot meal when youre just making a side dish XD

I was confused at the start. Orzo means barley in italian and that type of pasta is called risoni (big rice). So i thought she was going to use barley not pasta 😅
