Orthodox Easter / Pascha Family Vlog 2019 - Enter the Joy! ♡MissJustinaMarie

Come along as I share with you another family vlog, this time a look into our faith and cultural traditions for Orthodox Easter, which we call Pascha.
Easter, or Pascha, for Orthodox Christians, is the most important day of the entire year. It is the feast of feasts! The holiest day of holy days! The day when Christ descended into hades, shattered its gates, and annihilated hell. It is the day when Christ rose from the dead, trampled down death by His death, and through His death on the Cross gave everlasting life to us all.
For Orthodox Christians, even Orthodox Christian children, Easter has nothing to do with the Easter bunny and we don’t even say Happy Easter to one another. Instead, we loudly proclaim the Paschal greeting CHRIST IS RISEN! INDEED, HE IS RISEN! on Easter Sunday and for the 40 days after Pascha. We share the Paschal greeting, CHRIST IS RISEN, in all different languages.
Христос воскреcе!
Χριστὸς ἀνέστη!
Hristos a înviat
المسيح قام! حقا قام!
Christus resurrexit!
But before we get to Holy Pascha, we have to make it through Holy Week. So in this vlog, I’ll share with you a few glimpses into our Good Friday traditions, which included venerating and keeping watch over Christ’s body in the tomb, which is represented by the Plaschanitsa, or winding sheet, and our candlelight service on Saturday night, when at the stroke of midnight we can finally proclaim to the world Christ’s glorious Resurrection!

AUDIO ISSUES ABOUND! Hi, Friends! Thank you so much for watching. I’m so sorry about the audio problems. It sounded perfect during the editing process, but I encountered problems with the audio after it processes on KZread. I’m so sorry! Does anybody know how I can fix this issue in future vlogs? Thank you for your patience!!!

This is probably the most helpful video! My family (almost all) has become catechumen and this will be our first Pascha! We didn't know what to expect and but everyone at church is so excited for it coming up.

WOW I cannot imagine having Midnight Office and Matins at 11:30, only to return at 9 in the morning for Liturgy! Yikes! We do the whole thing starting 11 or 11:30, feast afterwards, and get home around 4:30. Then we sleep, and eat a little bit more, until Agape Vespers around 2 on Sunday. After that is when we eat more and do the kids' egg hunt. But it's crazy that they don't at least hold off until later for Liturgy-I would be asleep on my feet!
