Trent, to his model alone in his studio: “Why are you like this?!” Me, eating Doritos on my couch: “I’m sorry Miscast, I don’t know either.”
Love the "i wont get distracted" cut to a full squad of goblins made because of distraction. These are such adorable lil guys!

Goblins are such a good distraction though, they're my weakness too. Making 40k ork meganobz? Here's a full squad of gretchins! What's that, sculpting ogors? Watch it, a warband of swamp gobbos is coming for you!
The classic scenario of knowing you have one particular miniature and going through literally hundreds of miniatures because you know you have it in there somewhere. I am familiar with that.

@@Miscast To riff on Kill Six Billion Demons: "He did not seek the right bit, and so found it with little effort."
Curtis's sculpts are so idiosyncratic and fun; a perfect match for Trent's work.
My friends and I had issues once with casting some WW2 tanks. Found out some resins were temperature sensitive when enough mass was present (internal mass set as expected but the outer surface cooled off too quickly to set properly). Luckily, one of us knew about this so we only wasted two castings before the stove was recruited. Looking forward to your next video as always.
I really like the “so this is what I got done this week” format of the recent videos. Really inspiring to see so much cool stuff coming from the workshop.
Absolutely nothing else gives me creative energy like these vlogs 😌

Big agree. Just finished my first scratch build Mordheim board thanks to this channel.
Those Boglander arms are super useful. Interestingly, to your point about different casting materials (and you probably already know this, but maybe the audience don't), the arms for the grot conversions are from the Ramshackle Games Boglanders set, and they are actually cast in a different resin from the bodies! The bodies are single pieces and need to be durable and low-cost, while the arms are thin and delicate and need to be detailed and flexible, so Curtis cast them in different resins. I'm sure that's the case for a lot of models, but it was the first time I'd seen it, or at least noticed it. Also, I love the necrollusk boar and the Willie cart. Just amazing. And the trukk concepts! And and and ...
5:00 - yes! Yes it is!
I haven't even finished the video but, as someone who has also been reorganizing their bits box lately: it feels great, doesn't it?

You give me such creative boosts its actually unreal. Your vlogs makes me want to go out and create.
Those are awesome!!! Perhaps your mold was off-gassing something? I have had one mold that made sticky casts the first few batches, then after letting it sit for months it cast fine, and I was guessing that might have been why, but just a guess. (The sticky casts took a little over a year hidden in a cabinet to cure hard!) I’m glad the baking fixed yours!!! If I ever have that happen again I’ll have to try that.

Good thought... I bet you're right, maybe heat speeds up the offgassing idk.
I love to see the pages of your notebook, it always interests me to see what people draw for their notes and thoughts. Thanks for sharing
Man, Miscast videos always makes me want to make stuff. Sadly I don't have a lot of space or cash to spend on it. If only I could channel all that creative energy into my other projects.
These recent videos have been so great, seeing the creative process in what feels like such an organic form is awesome and inspires me in a way that very few hobby videos are able to
12:00 that reminds me so much of daily driving a linux system. I have little to no technical knowledge and sometimes it seems like everything just suddenly does or doesn't work one day, and some seemingly random tinkering fixes the issue.
I don't play Warhammer, I don't build models, don't paint Miniatures, and I barely even play table top games... but I absolutely love your channel and the things you build. Thank you for posting
Way back when 3E or maybe 4E had a Feral Ork rules list show up in White Dwarf I made an ork army out of a bunch of fantasy orks I had and I also used night goblins as grots. I turned one of those boar chariots around and stuck a GI joe gun in it to make an artillery piece. Also had a squiggoth out of a thrift store triceratops that I swapped the head on. Love what you are doing with your plague orks!
Trent, watching these videos really takes me back. I was rubbish at playing the games, but I mainly enjoyed customising & painting the models. I love this channel so much

This video was great inspiration for my current chaos themed goblin army. Great job as always, man!
Your brand of chaos is exactly what this hobby needs in the era of over serious creatives. Also did you use anything like vaseline on your sculpting tools when making the master? Washing masters before moulding might help in future.
Why the music hitting harder in the intro god daaaaaaaaaaaaamn got me dancin ngl
Here's a terrifying idea... Slaaneshi orks. I'm sort of designing my own minis. Though will go through the easy way of blender or CAD and printer... :)
Love the creativity and the videos! Keep them coming! You are so inspiring to watch 😊
Man, that was a wild ride. Thank you so much for sharing your process. You inspire me to keep creating each week!
when you use the bottle once, while not having shaken it enough, you pour off more of the lighter stuff and the ratio is off afterwards.
If you are casting urethane into a new silicone mold, you will have to bake the silicone mold first in an oven for 4 hours at 160 f. The silicone after curing gives off alcohols and moisture that must be baked out .

Hey More Miscast!!!!!
Seeings as you threw your lot in with Tzeentch, you're lucky you get a messed up a cast, and not a doorway to another dimension opened inside the mold, with all kinds of awful noises and smells emanating from it.
Looking at the date on the mould... You filmed and put this out today! What the hell man 😂
Those look like a combination of the Woolies from Samurai Jack and the Muppet Sweetums and Im in absolute love. I need 30.

Pretty sure the silicone had cure inhibition from the figure you made the mold of. Probably had sulfer in it.
I suppose chaos just works like that sometimes
the sphincter deffdredds
You didn't include it in your video, but check your mixing cups. If the resin cured in those but not in the mold, then it likely is not a bad mix ratio. I've had things take extra long in a pressure pot. You might have simply been jumping the gun as far as de-molding. Leave the parts in there a bit longer than usual. Another thing, did the tacky castings ever cure completely? If so, then, again, it might have simply been that you did not leave them in the pressure pot long enough. There's also the consideration of how volume, pressure and temperature are related. It's been way too long since I studied those, but I vaguely remember Boyle's Law being a part of that discussion. It could be that the increase pressure is affecting the temperature which in turn is affecting the curing. But I'm guess at that. I really don't remember.
12:18 😂
I think once you did the first failed cast you soiled your whole bottle of resin. If its true you didnt shake it well enough, you would have gotten more of a certain ingrediant in your first batch, and less of it in your subsequent batches. Ive never done this tho, so idk Looking forward to more! Edit: just finished the video. Looks like your last cast was successful. So i agree with you. Why did it work? Lol

I was thinking the same thing and it could still be the case, just so happened to balance out with multiple unshaken pours (so by random chance Trent got a good ratio in the end) I think it's more likely that some solvent/water based thing was on the inside of the mould (I assume theres a matrix that keeps the silicon stable and during the cure it evaporates and some might have been left in if it was used quickly) and cooking it forces it to evaporate. But could easily be something else entirely.
I'm surprised he never got into turnip 28

I want the whole army. But when those killa kans are on sale I will through that cash all the way to Oz.

@@Miscast Honestly just by best guesses,, I believe if it's the containers then it would be similar to plastic yellowing overtime maybe something due to manufacturing that has taken a while to develop. your other cast might not have done the same because it's in a controlled area / more internal that doesn't affect the cast or that you can see.
Now you gotta fight someone with them on that board you recently finished
Didn't actually watch the vid, just commenting on the title. Orks by definition are Chaos, in the purest sense. They do what they do for the love of it. Fightin is the reason for being and they aint in it to impose the will of the gods. Chaos could take a lesson from them and lighten up.

Trent. I saw nothing 😉
Was this your first cast with alien clay? Maybe there was an issue between the silicone you were using and the clay? I'm not sure. ...out of curiosity, would you recommend the monster clay, or the alien clay? Debating getting some myself, one or the other.
