On that note, I'd like to thank MXR for saving me money AND remedying the one thing I always wanted to change about Klones, in giving them a less spongy and quicker attack to be more suitable for trem picking, like the original Centaurs. And one more thank you to them for putting their circuit into a larger (hot pink, no less) enclosure because I hate mini pedals.

I love the Warm Audio stuff. Mics, EQs, and now the pedals. Another informative demo!
After your last Klon face-off, I went right out and purchased the Wampler Tumnus mini - ZERO regrets. It's a great pedal at a great price.

You should have a regret imo- that you didn't buy the Tumnus Deluxe. Generally speaking, the smaller version of most pedals is fine- the larger versions don't do a lot more than the minis- but not this time. The Tumnus Deluxe has a really potent eq section and a toggle that adds quite a bit of gain to the pedal. If you take that away- it loses about half of its versatility.

Dang. I bought a Tumnus Deluxe after the last video and when the Centavo came out, I ordered one immediately. That thing has been a mainstay on my smaller board and people LOVE it!! I gotta be honest, on stage you just can't tell and they both rock equally well. Can't go wrong with either.
The klon has a softer envelope to the clipping when it comes in. Could hear it every time. The tumnus brings in more high mids and a touch of harshness and thinness to the tone. The warm audio is closer to the real klon in the softness of the clipping, but less friendly somehow, with a fatter bottom. That being said, the audience would never know the difference in a million years. But gear isn't for the audience ...it's to inspire the player... so whichever one you like is the right one!

My thoughts exactly. I heard the difference every time. I couldn’t really even compare the Tumnus. Was the warm audio in same ball park?- yes. But there is a key element that every klon clone is missing.. no one has been able to successfully replicate that beautiful circuit. There’s just nothing like it. Is it worth $4000? Look, if you got the money for it.. why not?
@DanFlashes99

Pot tolerances were not accounted for, so while I agree with your sonic assessment, that information should not be assumed outside this particular test. Just nudging the tumnus tone knob down a bit (but within pot tolerances) would probably get it much closer. Maybe the clipping character would even be closer with a slight Gain knob nudge
@IAM_Reedy

The argument continues 😂 I think you nailed it… play what inspires you. I have a 96 Klon and several clones. In person the Klon is different, more touch sensitive and has more harmonic. The warmth it has is unmatched. The warm audio unit comes close in person but the tried getting the warmth by high passing, the Klon does not do that. There is a reason why this pedal is copied so much.
Can't really tell any noticeable difference between all these pedals. You Gents put out the best videos!
I have a centavo and I love it. I stack it with other drive pedals and it is absolutely inspiring. I recommend trying different drive pedals stacked on one side or the other. So many cool tones. The centavo is staying on my pedal board for sure. I'm running a LP 50s standard through a tonemaster superreverb. Some of the magic here is cranking the amp and just cracking open the drive and output. Gives me a clean/dirty smooth smooth tone that really responds to your playing. I love Andersons btw! You guys rock and are the best out there. Thank you for all the great videos and awesome picking and tone. I actually bought my amp because of an Anderson's review and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the help with the pursuit of tone Andersons! SoulfulAxeman

The Zen Drive was most definitely a Hermida product. Alf does an awesome job with his designs, and he's a super cool dude as well.
Warm drive in front of a Centavo is basically an Unobtanium pedal on a budget... Just got both of them and they are indeed two great recreations of two great circuits for great value/quality factor... Thumbs up Warm Audio and Danish Pete for the great riffs and licks.

I've tried them back and forth. I've actually landed on the Centavo first, with the gain up so that it's clipping. The Warmdrive afterwards so that it's pretty clean with my guitar at 6-7, breaking up after that. However… I stuck an old Keeley c4 compressor with the compression at around 11 to add the Centavo, but without it pushing the Warmdrive, or pushing it with the comp off.
I got the Warm Drive, it’s really smooth and sweet. I love it.

Excellent comment about people in clubs drinking any talking. They don’t care what strings you use, what pedals, what amp… The biggest reason players spend big $ on gear is to impress other players. Not to sound critical, but it’s a lesson I’ve learnt.
The Tumnus is fantastic value, but I would argue the Tumnus Deluxe is a better Klon clone, as it has the toggle switch for normal and hot clipping, and the EQ. So you can get even more customization options.

Just got the centavo as a birthday gift and it is an actual force. I was looking at the tumnus before I was given the Centavo but it is such a functional and clean OD that I don't see myself replacing it. Especially considering most people listening to your music have no idea what a Klon is and care even less. As long as you can jam!!
These pedals sound great. Alle 3 of them.
Damn, just shows if you take the time and fiddle with even a klon clone you can get so close its crazy. Save yourself some money and buy a Wampler and it seems like it has a wider range on top of the klon range. Plus you get to take up an 8th of the board instead of half. great video as always guys.
As I was listening, it sounded like there was a slight underbuzz on the second one that I was kinda right on in recognizing a difference, if one existed, in the blind pass. like an extra lower note that was resonating, and then the third one had a slightly deeper similar thing. Calling it a fatter bottom end would make sense to me.
I am still using a JHS Modded EHX Soul Food and love it to death. To be honest, I think the Tumnus and the Centavo outdo the actual Klon a bit. The Centaur sounds bassier and not quite as hot. I think the Tumnus has a little more of a treble sound, and the Centavo is probably the beefiest overall. A touch more gain and midrange is what I was picking up. If you guys had just came into the video blind, I probably wouldn't have known the difference between the Tumnus and the Centavo. The Klon I would have guessed was the tamest pedal when driven a bit. I still think the Klon sounded the best when Pete was doing that spanky cleaner blues at the beginning of the video but that's not what I use the pedal for, and there is no way I'd ever shell out that kind of money for a pedal. The Centavo wins out for me, but I'd love to have the Tumnus on my board as well.
I have a cortex capture of a klone ando it's crazy!!.. amazing sound!!
You guys have my dream job.
@6:33 with headphones on, I was able to discern from the Tumnus clarity vs the Klons 100% It's all about tolerances of the pots...
I have a Tumnus at the start of my overdrive cascade and a Way Huge Conspiracy Theory at the end, So much Klon clone goodness
I'm going to buy the wampler for my boost edge of break up blues tone and the centavo for my big fat classic rock tone.
Brian must be rubbing his hands in absolute glee and laughing all the way to the bank after this and the Klon Shootout Blind Test Lee and Pete did earlier on. Purchased a Tumnus Deluxe on the strength of that vid as I'm sure many others did.
I would like to see Lee and Pete do a shootout with the real Klon and the cheapest version available, the fabled Mosky Golden Horse, which I just love and use on my pedalboard! be very interesting to see the difference! thanks guys!
That warm drive reminds me of a Crowther Hot Cake. Thick and crunchy.
I tried the Mosky one and it's no longer working. It was quite noisy but with a noise gate, it sounded quite nice used as a clean boost with a plexi but it just suddenly stopped working. When you plug in the power supply to the pedal, it actually turns off the power supply and won't work. Never experienced that before. Luckily it wasn't expensive and was only bought out of interest. Just a little heads up if anyone was thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these. Like I say, it actually sounds quite good but I'd only used it a couple of times before it completely stopped working. Great video as always Lee and Pete. 👍🏼🎸

Pun intended but I think the Warm Audio has just a tiny bit warmer or"less harsh" sound. But could just be the settings since each is going to be slightly different in the exact same knob positions. But again...both great alternatives and the warm audio would be great if it was in a standard size enclosure. Sounds awesome as does the Tumnus. Warmdrive sounds great. I don't want to buy another drive pedal but might not be able to stop myself lol.
Guys, a real serious drive with an insanely great sound is the Mad Professor Simble Overdrive. It’s supposed to be a Dumble and does it well, but it does other sounds that are so different than other drives and lovingly lush.
How really useful!
Hey Lee, are those Fender power supplies getting into stock again any time soon? They seem to be sold out everywhere ... (especially the big one)
Staying with my Tumnus Deluxe yah
Can I ask what the guitar pot is at? Full on 10 or 8 ish? Sometimes that makes a difference. Isn't the mod switch just changing between pairs of diodes? The diodes in a Klon don't actually become active until you really bring the gain up past 2 as far as I'm aware - hence no difference on cleaner settings.
ive got the tumnus, just a nice organic crunch
Well done.. Wampler for the Victory

The other Andertons shootout has the Centura, I think it came third. I also have one and love it. It’s the closest to the look of a Klon 😊
I actually think the tumnus is the best I bought one I love it too
So in the end they're probably quite right with suggesting to just choose whatever pedal's look you like best, be it a Centavo, a Centura, a Tumnus, an Archer or Conspiracy Theory or what have you.
I like the Tumnus because it's small and I think it sounded the smoothest of the three but they all sound super close.
This on the left, the clone is perfect despite how it looks like ... The one in between is best for transportation because of low weight and small size. That one on the right is pure beauty at all.
It's interesting that I can hear 3 distinct sounds thru my phone speaker. First one is the most expressive and best followed by the middle one and the third is very compressed sounding.

Tumnus wins it for me, great sound and size really does matter. And my Wampler Plexi Drive Mini is awesome so I have faith in the brand for quality.
I run my Centavo into my Tumnus Deluxe, OCD and Smallbox. Play half of my stuff with just the Ceentavo and using the Tumnus as a boost with a just a little less gain or vice versa, than Centavo, like a King of Tone setup.
They have done an incredible job emulating the Klon, you literally cannot hear the difference. Buy a Klon if you're a purist or a collector but the Wampler or The Warm Audio are great 1 to 1 sound alternatives.
The industry makes more pedals that all sound the same so you can buy more and more pedals. This video is the perfect proof.
You should put a looper in front of all of them and loop a track and then play through the 3 and see if the sounds changes at all…
Unrelated question: I have been looking for a large display “beat per minute” device, can you tell me who makes the device in the upper right background of your video, what is it called, or where can it be purchased. I tried to search for that model, with no luck so far, thanks.
Why isn't the "Output" knob on the Warm Audio pedal horizontally aligned properly with the other two controls?

The name disqualifies it immediately- hopefully it's a poke at Avatar and how silly the premise of that movie was.
The first time a klon was on my radar was a Joe Perry rig rundown years and years ago. No one talked about klones, or how hard to find they were
My favorite KLONE, the Decibelics Golden Horse… it’s real boutique home made pedals, built by a single guy in Spain, each pedal is carefully tested and tweaked to match the original KLON. It’s around 200 bucks, but it’s worth it and sound just as good as a real KLON. If you don’t like it, then it means you wouldn’t like the original used for the cloning.
Tumnus is a great space saver on my board!!! I really like Wampler pedals.
I Loooooove my Tumnus! My favourite drive
On all these comparisons are we evaluating only component tolerances? What I’d like to see is say 5 Tumnus compared to see what the sound spread is like compared to the original, maybe one will be very close? However I’m not sure how close the actual schematics are?
What brand is that red double bound tele ovee by Pete?
On Beyer 990 Pro's you can hear an increased amount of treble in the Tumnus. Probably just a slight difference in pot tolerances.
The difference is more apparent when you use it to push a TS. In that scenario I much preferred the RYRA over the tumnus. On its own the tumnus is the winner
Btw the Wompler and Cenvato which one do you think would be better for a bass guitar? Please help I want one of these so bad.

As a Dane myself, I recognize the symptoms of what we call “Viking Rage” ! It starts off with just a bit of impatience mixed with irritation, but in a matter of a few hours quickly escalates into a full blown raging anger meltdown that is not easily controlled or should be interfered with. My best advice is to tie him up with zip locks, lock him in a closet or throw him down into the basement for at least 8 hours, after which he will slowly return to “normal” and may want some tea. Just saying. 😎✌🏽
