That's because the writers at least understood the importance of actually putting some thought into the story that they were writing, and not necessarily going with the first thing that comes to mind as the final script.

@@Ariaelyne This is exactly the single biggest mistake Disney made with their trilogy. There were a number of issues with the films that we could debate, but the single BIGGEST mistake is that they did not have the three movies planned out beforehand. You don't have to have every single story beat written out, but you have to have a structure or outline of where the story is supposed to go. That was done with the original trilogy and the prequels, but Disney never did that. And that is why it comes off as very disjointed and why you have things just suddenly happening for no reason.

How could they cut the silly banter among Anakin and Obi-Wan? It's solid gold! These two adult guys, fighting in a fucking galactic war, sworn to protect the innocent while trying to keep each other alive, taking their time to discuss between themselves like young boys is simply hilarious and helps a lot to understand the beautiful relationship that was broken by Anakin's tragic fall. Very bad move removing them. At least we have some awesome stuff in the clone wars shows

Lucas had too much plot to cover and too little time in the movies. A lot of important dialogue was cut from Attack of the Clones as well that helped to flesh out the characters more. Phantom Menace should have been a stand alone movie, Attack of the Clones should have been the first movie in the Trilogy, Clone Wars the second, and Third still being Revenge. This would have given them more time to flesh out the clone wars and all the important charcters.

@@joelt2002 Huh. I think you have a point there. Phantom Menace is de-facto setup to the Clone Wars, which from a purely film perspective needs to be covered for Revenge of the Sith to work. I mean, they could have gotten away with four movies instead of 3, lord knows enough people were hyped to see the clone wars in general.

I still wish we had an animated story arc of Ventress's final arc. Clone Wars still feels unfinished.

TCW is massively unfinished so much going on around the galaxy, different Jedi fighting all over. I still think a few more seasons are certainly needed.

The opening scene of episode III with the battle in space was the best opening in star wars history. A montage would be extremely atypical for star wars, these movies have always been very linear and have never resorted to timeskips or montages or flashbacks.

you have a point, however there were a lot of moments where it kind of felt that the movie was assuming that the audience had already seen the 2003 cartoon, like general Grievous who in general kind of feels shoved in the film (like why suddenly the entire fate of the war revolves around this robot that wasn't even mentioned before?) this question was answered in clone wars 2003, but the film does not answer it. I still love revenge of the Sith, but its far from perfect

the theatrical version is the directors cut lol, everything that happened was because George Lucas wanted it to happen. we need an extended cut, that was edited by someone other than Lucas lol still love this movie thou

the 2003 cartoon fills in the blanks perfectly, Lucas probably assumed that his entire audience had already seen it. which is why a lot of stuff is thrown in and unexplained (like general grievous being the key to finishing the war)

I remember these scenes back when I got the movie back on DVD. Loved watching all the content on it as a kid.

I totally get why a lot of this was cut. The extended scenes onboard the Invisible Hand are... well they're just not very good. The battle sequences would doubtless have been cool, but they would also be murder on the pacing. So many movies these days have drawn out action scenes that outstay their welcome, and I feel like Revenge of the Sith dodged a bullet there. The introductory montage is great for a Clone Wars episode with 1940s propaganda newsreel voiceover from Admiral Yularen, but it would be weird as hell in a main series film.

I think it had something to do with Lucas assuming that everybody that was going to watch the film had already watched clone wars 2003, which is why a lot of stuff (that was explained in the show) was not explained in the film (like grievous suddenly being the key to end the clone wars)

Thise deleted scenes are actually featured in the revenge of the sith game that came back in the days for ps2 and xbox as playable stages mixed with clips from the deleted scenes as it was with the rest of the movie.

Listen, I don’t have a problem with any of the Disney movies, shows, comics, books, games, etc. I’ve loved Star Wars since I was 7 years old (32 now) and that’s not going to change no matter who holds the license. What I do have a problem with is the fact that Disney keeps consistently causing issues for Star Wars based channels across KZread and it’s ridiculous. I don’t care if the channel loves the movies or hates them, neither channel should be subject to bogus claims and strikes and have to worry about losing all their hard work, love and time simply because the mouse is perturbed about something ridiculous and petty. I’m new to your channel (subscribed just now) and so far I’m digging your work and what the channel is offering (also love your sabers and look forward to picking one up). Hopefully you’ll be able to continue with minimum interference going forward. May the force be with your channel.

I wish disney would leave the fans to fill in the gaps with good content while they continue to blunder with theirs. I love you're trying bud ❤️

Further context for these deleted scenes: there was another deleted scene of Shaak Ti's death and it was supposed to be during Operation Knigthfall at the hands of Vader but that got deleted as well and that deleted scene was eventually referenced in the Mortis arc in TCW when Anakin has the vision of the future. Shaak Ti's death would eventually be seen in The Force Unleashed (2008) which is EU/Legends and TCW is both EU/Legends and canon and that's another can of worms I don't want to open right now. While her first death is obviously non-canonical, the part of the scene where Anakin and Obi-Wan go swimming is present in the ROTS video-game. There's a whole section of the game dedicated to them in the tunnels with water inside the Invisible Hand. There are deleted scenes from the film concerning the Delegation Of 2000, which is the beginning of the Alliance To Restore The Republic (Rebel Alliance) which I think are great scenes but they were unfortunately deleted, but you can see them in the novel. Plus other deleted scenes are both in the novelization and comic books. Another interesting cut concept from the film is how initially Anakin was already at Palpatine's office when Mace and the gang went there to arrest Palpatine and Palpatine grabbed Anakin's sabre, that's why in a few shots you see him handling Anakin's sabre. In the ROTS game Anakin also duels Mace. In the Mustafar duel in a few shots you see Anakin and Obi-Wan using eachtother's sabres because there was a deleted moment in the duel in which they grabbed eachother's sabres. Quinlan Vos is referenced in Episode III in dialogue, he was supposed to appear in the film and you can see this in the animatics for Order 66. His apparent death is depicted in that animatic, the comic adaptation and the Republic comics, but in the Republic comics it also shows how he survived. There's other behind the scenes stuff about deleted scenes and abandoned concepts from the final cut of the film that are present in other works from the ROTS tie-in material and Clone Wars multimedia project but this text is already too long.
