How to make an origami Unicorn

In this tutorial you'll learn how to make an origami unicorn step by step. This model was first designed in 2014, but this is an updated version with some "bug fixes" (legs are properly locked) and a color changed horn.
The biggest flaw of the old version is that the legs and layers of the body would spread open after a while. This could be solved using foil paper or the wet folding technique, but in my opinion a good design should hold the shape well even with normal paper. So, to solve this problem, I've made some locks on the legs similar to the hind legs of my origami Reindeer. Additionaly, I rearranged some layers on the crimp fold of the neck and added some locks inside the body too.

Oops, i made this as a shoe present for Saint Nicolas for my daughter of 5 years old, hope she gets it :) I liked doing it, although 1,5 hours was a tad more than I bargained for :)

I went back to see how the one in the movie looked like, and I was like, "wait a sec, that doesn't look right" it turned out I've defaulted it with the image of Jo's design, goddamn, goes to show how good Jo's design were.

I have tried both versions. I love this version's hind legs very much. The forelegs are more beautiful but make the unicorn a little more difficult to stand up. Anyway thank you very much!

So awesome! I love the finished product. After spending a ton of time folding it heed a few words of warning. USE A LARGE PEICE OF PAPER! So hard to do on a small one!

Great model. Loved the locking mechanism in the legs and colour change in the horn (great since i used gold foil paper) but i dont think it should be rated complex (like intermediate maybe).

I got confused the part where you put the folds into a Diamond shape, it’s almost at the very beginning and I just gave ip
I took 4 hrs to make it and paper has ripped in some places too. Bt it was nice to try it
