The foam inlay system hands down is absolutely the best. I already had many tool boxes and didn't want the expense of replacing the actual boxes, but the sonic medium boxes fit very well in the craftsman boxes!!

With all due respect, I feel like we should get Mikes opinion on this stuff. You don’t really use them, he does.

The way you store tools is also different for someone who grabs them all day vs someone who uses them once in a while.

As a professional diesel mechanic I primarily use Mac and snap on tools. The credit deals are not that bad if you pay it off fast. Plus if your just starting out not making a lot of money. $500 for a quality impact is hard to come up with. But $50 a week is manageable. Tried a sonic ratchet found them a bit rough and it broke when I got on it. Now have to deal with online warranty. My Mac ratchet broke. Rep was there in 2 hours and rebuilt it. Snap on or Mac have a lot of the special tools you need when you need them locally. But I will say truck brands are overkill for most diy and homeowners. But pro use not much else stands up. Plus nothing worse than busting a knuckle open because your made in Taiwan ratchet broke.

I am scratching head why would you not just put the paper tool list under each organizer in the drawers?? For a guy with OCD throwing them away makes no sense.. These list may be available from Sonic now but not forever..

Koken makes a nice tool 👌🏼 I don’t need it, but their titanium set makes me drool 🤤 a little 😉

Mac Tools just released a foam configurator for tool organization. Their pliers are made by knipex and the rbrt line is best in class.

Those socket trays look great, that box needs another top drawer. The wasted vertical space could be used for wrenches or pliers. I don’t know if they have lockers and hutches but they need them to compete. I don’t want built ins even though they are nice, just not for me.

Gotta say as much as the sonic setup is nice Snap-on tools seem to hold or even appreciate in value over time. Especially now a days with inflation I've got quite a few snap-on tools worth more used than what I paid new.

I agree, that top drawer is way too deep and needs to be at least 2 drawers. Your Snap-on experience is an interesting one. I am not a Snap-on guy. Never will be. But, when you first said a couple of videos ago that you were waiting for them to deliver everything, that was a big turn-off. That is their business model. They are selling availability and warranty. I am not a Sonic guy either. I want to decide what tools I get and how to organize them. I also don't really like the tools themselves. For Taiwan stuff, I like Tekton more. But I do see the appeal, especially if you really aren't a tool guy, but want to fill your garage with tools.

SnapOn, Grainger, Fastenal there all about Convenance and you pay that extra extra premium for it. SnapOn has the Mechanic convenance because with that extra price, you break a tool and next week the snap on truck is there making his rounds to replace it and they don't ask questions.

What would you expect he would say about snap on when sonic has him in their back pocket😂

Snap-on sucks man. I desperately want to like it. If it was great, I would look into becoming a franchise owner. I’m sorry to crush your hopes and dreams, but it’s a marketing and finance company. The tools are just what they happen to be selling. That is reflected in the design and quality of what they make.

The big challenge with these manufacturers, is that they’re not set up for regular consumers. They’re made for commercial environments, and those are specialty meaning the business knows what they need and how they need their (auto, wood, machine, etc.) set up. Consumers? We need a bit of everything, and SFS systems make that challenging. Tool Grid is nice, I have that in many drawers, but the SFS setup is legit.

Sonic all day, I've never been a Strap-On fanboy.

What I’ve learned from all these tool videos is Snap Ons business model is super predatory. They’re hoping their name alone is enough to get young mechanics to have a monthly tool payment for their entire careers. Nonsense

Sonic box all the way..imo ( only gripe would be regular wrenches instead of ratcheting wrenches…I have the proto’s and never go for the standard ones anymore…again tho just my opinion )

There should definitely be an easy option to purchase one if every tool they make. There can be leveled to build up to this of course. But the main thing please, I hate when companies skip sizes. As long as those 2 things are on the table that would make it worth while. Tekton has this concept down

I would absolutely love to win that Sonic toolbox.

I'm personally not a fan of the foam inlays, way too much space wasted. For instance, the pliers could stand upright in an Ernst/snap-on rack, freeing up half that drawer immediately. The top drawer on that box is way too deep also, you would use it for sockets and the like normally but it doesn't need to be that deep.

In the defense of Snap-on, you’re probably the only person that has just said here’s my spreadsheet. I need them all. They’re very expensive and they’re not something that’s made thousands of them at a time in a factory offshore. Versus the sonic stuff that is probably I’m guessing re-branded and made by other companies.

You aren’t wrong. The problem I have with Snap-on is them selling to those that shouldn’t be buying it. Span-On is primarily made in the US, just also has a bunch of aggregate stuff from China and Spain. Sonic is primarily made in Taiwan to their spec. They also aggregate tools from other companies like NWS. I don’t care who or where it’s made. I just care how it works and feels in my hand.

​@@ObsessedGarage 80 % of what Snap On sells is American made. I have no clue where you get your information from. As far as availability, 999 out of 1000 have never heard of Sonic tools. When they have warehouses setting full of them I would hope you could get them. Snap On tools are used world wide, they don't set around much. The boxes are American made and the demand out paces the output.

At around 3:25 of the part 3vidoe of wrenchs you say it can be won in the US or Canada excluding Quebec. I got excited. I went on your website to try and buy some digital entries. It would not compleat the purchase. I checked you FAQ and it says US residents only. Thats shity dude. Got my hopes up for nothing.

wish you guys wouldn’t throw all the paper and documentation out. Whoever wins might want that stuff, I always put all my documentation into a folder and keep digital copies too so I always have access to that info if i need it. Just doesn’t seem completely “dialed in” and “obsessed” without it.
