Organizational Culture Edgar Schein
Organizational culture from Edgar Schein's 1991 article, "What is Culture?" His model of organizational culture looks at, among other things, levels of culture including artifacts, values, and underlying assumptions.
Edgar Schien's three levels of organizational culture is referenced in scores of books and thousands of articles seeking answers to the question, What is organizational culture and why does it matter?

What a brilliant video
Thank you so much for your wonderful content. I am using your videos to get an overview of management related topics. I would greatly appreciate it if you could give examples of leaders or CEOs who have basically done the opposite of the one in your example. The one that would believe that employees are inherently hard working and creative requiring guidance and not supervision.

I think recently, Gary V is known for being a great CEO like you mention. Coach Tony Dungy (retired NFL coach) was known to be a supportive head coach. Alan Mulally (Boeing and Ford) is known to be an empowering leader. There are lots of examples. But, learning about CEOs and how they really are is difficult because everything we hear about them is filtered.
Nice!
What are your thoughts on best leadership books?
hi sir i am working on one research how can i know the underlying assumptions of ACCOR HOTEL COMPANY ?
Did you make the chart in slide 2 (with Culture on the top, several components and percentage contribution)? Is it in your book? I'll gladly pick up a copy. I would like to include the chart with credit given in something I'm writing about Christian community and its culture. The Founder and Stories, Rites and Rituals--oh my how well they fit! Appreciate any help. Your presentation and graphics are so clear and comprehensive. Really glad I stumbled across your work.

Hi, Art. Everything in the video is from Schein's article that I cite in the description below the video. This content is not in my book. He's written about this in a bunch of different articles, chapters, and books.
I really don't get it . Are we talking about culture in general and how to analyze it ? Or is it is just for an organisation such as Amazon like you said ? Please answer me and thank you very much for your efforts

Schein does both in his article. He explains what culture is and he also offers a model of culture that could be used to understand specific cultures in organizations. But, I would not go as far as to say Schein is showing us how to analyze culture in a deep, specific way. He is giving us a basic model of culture we can apply. I use Amazing as an example to make it more concrete but Schein doesn't talk about Amazon in his article, which came long before Amazon was around.

Concise explanation. However, the belief-value framework has been used in ethnography for decades before 1991.

Your point is well taken. As I mentioned in the opening 15 seconds of the video, I'm basing this specific video almost entirely on the 1991 article I mentioned. My goal was not to give a comprehensive explanation or history or talk about its origins and roots from ethnography. I'm just covering this specific chapter from Schein.
that Facebook example aged like milk. Great video, regardless!

Ha. Yes, that the risk of using examples. They are only snapshots of a certain place and time. But, real life is a longer story.
"You may want to rewind and go over the ideas again until you internalize it" Oh like internalize the culture of organizational culture?

I appreciate the videos but I think some ideas are rushed through and not explained enough. I think there is not enough paraphrasing of ideas.
