You definitely nailed it with its appearance. Absolutely looks like you were looking at space through a telescope!
They say the stones of Atlantis were black white and red. So we're the Egyptians. I think parts of the US and the stone you cut is from that exact time ...fellow RockHounds rock!!

Interesting! Thanks for watching!
I went on a hike* yesterday and found/picked up so many rocks! I always used to smash rocks with my father. We would pick the ugliest one and crack it in half to see if it had something inside and the majority of the time. It was either marbleized or quarts of some sort inside. Quite fascinating.
Looks like black obsidian as well.

@@RockhoundingLife, Good reference video. Thanks for posting!
That's so awesome
Was holding a couple of those while looking for agates particularly black/blues. And looking in the polished rock Jars at the red/black jasp/agg and seeing the exact same rock!!! Sweet! I kept thinking they were something because of the white wispy layer.. they polish spectacularly...
Looks like it took a while for the silica to evaporate during formation! Awesome Agate! Tumbled its SWEEEET! Sometimes if you don’t see the white window like, at times a bluish black rock will contain silver
Absolutely Stunning ! Amazing material !

That really is unexpected! The cabs look great.
Cheers from P.E.I.
Well done! I may have something similar. Time to look through the pile 😊
They're beautiful, and you show them off to good advantage. It looks like they've already been snapped up by some lucky buyers. It's always fun to know a bit of the story of the polished stone that you are buying.
I surprised no geologist types have chimed in to give their opinion of what they are. I've seen similar rocks in my part of the US and will be grabbing a few to meet a saw.
Very cool

Thanks so much for this video Jason! I have 2 or rocks that look just like this, from the same place. I was drawn to the blue color and odd look and when I looked closer I saw some little agates, dark agates on a dark rock. I haven't got a saw yet to cut them, but I'm very curious to know if they are red inside, like yours are. You would never guess it by looking at them!
That’s so cool!❤
Thank you.
Scots Bay ftw 🥰😍
Loved watching this created ! I have rock collected for most my life. I would love to do some cutting and polishing, but the equipment can be pricey.

I'm far down in East Texas and I find something similar with about the same frequency as you. I know I've got something good when I find dark rocks with a bit of patterning. Cutting them open always yields something interesting.

@@RockhoundingLife near the San Jacinto river. There aren't big agates there but the ones you find are quite diverse. Pet palm wood is probably the most unique thing you might find there.
Cool!
I'm fairly sure it's flint: dark or black, shiny and waxy, sparks when slabbing, 7 on mohs hardness test I just cut one of mine that's mostly black with red stripes
That is so cool!

I like rocks, I bring them home
I am an old rock enthusiast, coming back to it now, as I have a new lease on life after a recent hospital excursion. I’m looking for any tips as a new lapidary hobbyist. I am in the process of purchasing a small trim saw as I do have some creative ideas and other rocks that I can find around my area. Is there decent and much cheaper way to make cabs other than to buy a very expensive cab machine? I already have a Tumbler And I will be purchasing a flex shaft, multitool as well. Just curious as to if this may be enough as a start for polishing, cutting and shaping. Any, and all help would greatly be appreciated friends. Thank you

Hey there, Congrats on your recovery! It sounds like you have obtained the typical "starter kit" for a budding lapidary hobyist. It will take you linger to make cabs but it can be done with what you have. When you are ready to move to the next level i cam help you. Just reach out.

@@RockhoundingLife thank you so very much man! I was just watching your video about the new faceting machine, so I hope we can see soon some more footage of that because I was also contemplating one of those down the road. I’m excited once I get started here and can share some creations. I am a welder, so I obviously want to incorporate metal or sculptures in with some of these rock cutting projects that I have in mind. Love your videos and thank you for the reply!

@@RockhoundingLife Also, I do not mean to bug you, but just curious if it’s possible to put a small say 4 inch diamond wheel on the flex shaft tool, so that I can shape cabs a little easier than with the Dremel side of things.

The ‘white tracing’ is a creature track. This is not the same rock! If it was you’d have opened it open off the saw without ‘cutting’ to another camera. Rubbish!
