My wife also brought home 3 large chunks of rainbow feldspar , white, green, purple, and shades of each swirled throughout. It's beautiful. I slabbed it but thats as far as I'm going until I sharpen my polishing skills.

Wife and I went to an Avett Brothers concert a few weeks ago. We got some unreal picture jasper from the landscaping. If I had to guess, they still have roughly 2.6 billion stones left and I haven't heard that the soil has eroded away yet. There was literally 1000's of people and arena employees everywhere and not a single person even looked our way wondering why we were making a small pile of rocks off to the side 🤣

Do you get your final polish with the 3k alone or do you use a polishing compound as well ? I'm struggling with this , not sure I'm spending enough time with each step, I'm not quite sure what to look for to tell me it's time to move to the next grit.

Never heard of someone getting mad about you stealing landscaping rock. Ive stolen landscaping rock directly in front of homeowners and they all just laugh and tell you they hope its a good one. I think everyone has done this. In any glacial basin area, its probably the cheapest part of the landscaping. They probably paid some guy more to spread it around than they paid for the rocks themselves. If you went around asking farmers to haul off their rock piles... You could probably build a whole house for free in under a couple months! Rocks are what we've got up here. So many rocks.

Oh I totally called it. I said to my husband “oh if he takes a rock there will be people crying and whining in the comment” Not 2 minutes later you said it. I find their kind of hall monitor behavior distasteful at best. I pick up cool rocks a lot. Not buckets full but if I find a cool one or 2 it’s mine and I don’t care what anyone thinks 👊🏼 I understand you have to keep the whiners at bay I’m sorry.

DQ was probably like “Are you seriously asking if you can take two rocks?” 😂 Companies have yearly budgets for everything including landscaping. It’s not that expensive to buy a load and have it delivered. To placate everyone making a big issue of it (I’m thinking they’re not gen X’ers cuz we know life’s too short to make issues out of little things) you might drive around with a box of rocks. Then when you see one you like in a parking lot (or wherever) you can switch it out. Course then you might be accused of favoritism 🤭

You sound so bitter about having to ask. Ultimately someone paid to place those rocks there. They are property of someone, and just like you shouldn't take someone's lawn chair or or grass: you shouldn't take rocks without at least an equivalent exchange.

@@RockhoundingLife What complaint. DQ paid to buy those rocks. They paid to ship them to location. They paid to distribute them around the property. I'm glad they gave you rock(s), but you're not entitled to their rocks; that's stealing, and I'm glad social media is able to stop (future) theft of other people's landscaping and impart a good lesson to your son.
