Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Beautiful work. That stone has so much character.

What area are you in? I’m about to start an adventure with my father who is disabled. He also has the beginnings of what may be dementia so I want to make some happy memories for him. Do you have a tumbler? I could send you some rocks to tumble.

@OccamsSledgehammer Not anymore. I left all my rock shop equipment behind when I got too sick. I did kept some of my favorite rocks from my collection, though. You are very kind to be helping your father. Us older parents need nurturing sometimes. Especially if we become less able to take care of ourselves the way we want. Good luck on y'all's journeys. Happy trails!

So glad I got a notification about this video. So my dad passed away February 4th. We definitely made some happy memories, and I am so grateful to all of the content creators who kept him entertained right up until the end. He’d want me to keep exploring, and I plan on it. You guys are awesome.

Gorgeous. I remember collecting stones from a public garden as a kid and smashing them till they broke on my grandparents' back yard floor. I found a whole world of wonder in some of those stones.

Love the pin shaped crystals in that rock. This spring my wife and I went back east to visit my family. While there we went to Sandy Neck Beach Park on Cape Cod. This beach is in the bay, but faces north, so much of it has exposed gravel in the tidal zone exposed from winter storms. As Cape Cod is glacial till, the rocks originated somewhere between Massachusetts and the Canadian tundra. The variety was ineradicable. I am not 1/4 the way through cutting stones from this outing. Tip, go in the off season and time your trip so that the tide is receding. During the off season parking is free and the people are much more friendly. Google reviews has a lot of negative reviews due to a rocky beach. That's a good sign. Look for these complaints in reviews.

Pretty awesome work with a wonderful base stone - my father used to do some of this lap work, and I still have a few of the pieces he did. I also have his tumbler, but that's it. Use it mainly to tumble broken, colored glass ... then spread that out to "seed" local beaches in the winter, for kids to find the following summer. He sold the rest of his equipment before he died (in 1976). The opaque, metallic bits are more likely magnetite than hematite ..... and magnetite would be MUCH more pulled by the magnet.

I remember a friend and I were at a rock hounding get together somewhere in Seattle and a guy let us use his garage equipment and pick out any rock he had there or if we had any of our own, actually he happened to have a little piece of some dinosaur bone, and it was red and white, I remember making a bolo out of it ( 80’s thing) love your channel!! ✨

So I don’t really have any jewelry, very little, And that because I’d rather use the money to help a poor person or animal, but I am absolutely fascinated by rocks, Stones, and germs. These were really beautiful and I would never know while passing them by on the beach. An amazing find and you made them beautiful at the end. The raw stones were stunning in the slabs too. The only thing that scares me is your work with that circular saw so close to your fingers, like what if there was an earthquake all of a sudden. They should invent something that protects the fingers yet enables the dexterity you need. When you’re grinding you should wear a mask also to protect your lungs from particles that could become airborne.

Thanks for your concern. I always wear a mask when performing lapidary tasks. Regarding my fingers and the saw, please watch the video below to get a better understanding of how lapidary saw blades work. Thanks for watching! kzread.infoqf8abF5eVbU?feature=share

I’ve tripped over those rocks for most of my life around here, no idea you could do this with them. Whooda thunk lol. Congrats on the graduation! Cheers from Truro(Hubtown)
