Fantastic orchestration! It really made it more amusing to have some pitch reference. Great job! I do sub work and session jobs. I work with some songwriters who are no less talented but who can fill a club with their Facebook fans and family. I once had a club owner say, "yep! I hate his singing but he brings in all his friends and family and they run the register so high, I always book him back. "

This was deeply offensive. To the child and everyone who has to listen to her. Either train her properly or shut her down. She is embarrassing herself and her parents allowed it to happen. This will live forever.

Thank you very much! You really understood my intention. I've been pretty surprised at the comments that amount to: "This girl sounds terrible and I'm embarrassed and/or offended." I mean, sure, criticize the parents, the pageant culture, the desperate American quest for stardom, but the girl is legitimately trying really hard here. And no 8-year-old child deserves to have "you SUCK" yelled at her by lots of strangely angry people. Her voice isn't even irrevocably bad, she just hasn't been taught how to control it well.

As a professional musician, I can assure that she most certainly does NOT have potential.

That actually made her sound better because it covered up the fact that she was pushing her voice so hard. You should've added some percussion though to illustrate all those tempo changes.

She was off pitch several times, and you can tell she is stuck on herself. What parent would let their child perform this way. They are setting her up for failure. Her dad’s the one that books all her performances for her. I read about an interview with him and I think he’s just as tone deaf as she is because he legitimately seems to think she sounds good. The problem is that she has an actual voice coach. Whoever that is is really the one to blame for this atrocity

I feel sorry for her, she wasn't ready. she is very off key, and i can hear some tension in some parts idk which ones. she's also pushing her voice to be much more than she's capable of. she's talented, but talent alone won't get you anywhere. her parents shouldn't have let her sing in front of all those people when she wasn't ready.

Somtimes its hard to hear yourself when singing into a microphone, so she didnt know how bad it was until social media because her parents told her she sounded great. It must have been a huge shock for her to see this. We now have an entire generation of kids that are ill-prepared for adulthood because their childhood was full of participation trophies, cancel culture, and outrage junkies. Childhood is not supposed to be about being shielded from disappointment and hard truths. Our job as parents is to raise kids who are equipped with the tools to handle disappointment, embarrassment, and the fact that life is not fair. Frankly, I think parents who hide their kids from unpleasantness are lazy. Kids will either learn it at home with guidance and love or they will get their ass kicked by life as adults. At that point, because they have developed zero coping skills, they are left susceptible to substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. As much as we want to wish pain away for our kids, it is unavoidable. Period. Do your damn job. Our kid's don't need us to be their buddies. They need us to be their parents. If you actually love your kid, and you do your job right, sometimes you will be unpopular. Grow up and deal with it.

That’s what happens when your parents lie to you and tell you that you’re good at something. You end up embarrassing yourself in front of the whole country. There is a difference between bullying and constructive criticism. I’ve seen a mixture of both in the comments but I think she should be allowed to read all of it. I read in an interview that she hasn’t looked at all the comments on her performance yet. Maybe she should so she can get a reality check.

An abomination and an insult to our flag, the anthem, its meaning and our veterans. Whoever set this up made it all about her and themselves. Dreadful and shameful.

It ain't that serious 😒 people have and continue to do far worse. This little girl lacks vocal talent, but she genuinely tried. And she sang proudly for her country. Just because she sang badly doesn't mean she was being disrespectful. No need to attack a child, plenty of 4th graders put on school performances in the school cafeteria signing the national anthem off-key, I've heard them. They just weren't signing at an NBA game.

It's a relatively *easy* song to sing *when you're not desecrating it by ornamenting it to death*. A national anthem ought to be sung with dignity, not like a cheesy pop song. But Kinsley Murray is far from the first singer to do so.

@@fishofgold6553key word “relatively”. It’s got a wide range so it is a difficult song to sing, but that’s why you should sing it in a key that fits your voice. Many people try to sing it in a key that’s way too high for their voice to try and show off. When I sang it at a couple soccer games and school assemblies, I got a lot of compliments but also a lot of people that told me they would have liked it if I’d shot for the second high note on “land of the free”. Dude, I didn’t sing it because I didn’t think I could hit it. Almost everyone I’ve heard shoot for that note misses it by a mile. I’m not here to show off. I’m here to respect my country.
