yeah when you look they also dont have that many views. not being pushed by the algorithm for some reason. the videos are all high quality regardless of the low views which i appreciate, since ive been watching for years now haha.

I loved this bikes for the time I spent on it. As far as value goes, it’s hard to beat right now. Great review! 🤟🏼

Had a chance to demo one of these earlier this year. It was a great time, but I had a hard time getting off lips and clearing doubles that I usually don't struggle with at all. I think it could have something to do with the low center of mass, but overall, it rode fine.

I wanted to demo one of these against the Fuel EXe and Relay but couldn't find where to, plus they appeared to be OOS until late this year.

I have a Rise H30 setup with a 160 fox 36 fork, 1x offset bushing and DPX2. Bike eats up the DH, on the climbing I have the 540 battery so I can have long climbs and laps with out issue. I did notice that on one of the steep climbs the guys with the full fat Levos pulled away from me but were still in view. I think if I had deeper pockets, a carbon model with carbon rims and the smaller battery would be an eBike Quiver killer. As the range extender can be employed to keep range on part with full fats. I’ve pre-ordered the cascade link so eager to see how the extra travel and progressive nature benefits the bike.

I love my Rise.

I've studied all these mid power bikes of late. I own an Orbea Rise gen1, M10. Despite what I think? was said here, the Orbea Rise, EP8 RS is the most powerful in the light weight class (not including the new Bosh SX motor equipped bikes, which may be the most powerful), when the bikes are tested on long climbs. The Fatzua motor is buried in the frame and cannot sustain long full power without over heating. Hence it can only use full power for 12 seconds. It appears that the Orbea Rise in full trail and the Fazua in full River (Trail) are similar in their power range. The Specialized Dali drive is very close to those motors in boost mode. The TQ motor is the softest power in boost and the quietist. All of these motors have great attributes!!!! However, In my opinion, the Fatzua is fantastic for my application. It is silent, light weight and most importantly for those of us who live in the west, STEALTHY! I rarely run my Orbea rise in boost for longer that 5-10 seconds. Therefore, the Fazua drive would have very close power in actual trail use compared to the Orbea Rise, RS1 at least for me. Reliability in these new drives remain unproven, as yet in real use. That is proven in the Orbea Rise RS1. I have 6K miles on my drive. Still works like factory fresh.

When I adjust my power ranch on the app. This thing has tons of power. Not sure why you would want more unless you want a moto bike

@theloamwolf Any chatter from the motor? The ep8 was commonly known to have chatter while descending or going over rough terrain, but not sure if it's still an issue with the ep801?

65.5° HTA? Was it a bit squirmy on steeper chunkier descents?

I have owned one. Cons are: floppy back end feel vague and wear out bearings fast and a linkage construction prone to creaks, noisy temperamental shimano motor. Pros are: low frame weight compared to battery size and motor capability, works most places, easy to live with.

The rise comes at 48nm from the factory, even in boost. This is easily changed to the full 60nm in the e-tube app. Could be why it felt slightly underpowered

I've never felt my Rise under powered. There are two profiles on the EP8RS. Profile 1 by default is 22-33-47NM and profile 2 is 33-47-60NM. This is tunable as will in the e-tube app for feel as well as power delivery. Are you sure you were in the correct profile? I feel some mention should have been made on tuning options.

I had the same thought. It comes default in Profile 1 which is set with Turbo at 50 NM and assist profiles that are slower to kick in. Putting it in Profile 2 (and customizing those to your needs) radically changes the bike.

Do you have the newer one? Mine is the first gen hydro and profile 1 boost default was 47.

Since I live in Europe my Rise is limited to 25 km/h and it never feels underpowered. Your version is 20 miles so about 32 km/h. When did it feel underpowered compared to the other bikes?

Frances Cebedo with E-MTB has a very objective climbing test showing the Orbea Rise is quite a bit faster than 2 Fazua powered bikes. Scroll to the end of his recent Santa Cruz Heckler video and you can see the chart he made.

I saw that test, he did a great job of explaining why the Orbea is so much faster. It also seems like a lot of people don’t know how to set up the Orbea to get the full 60nm of power out of the motor. They end up testing it at 45nm max.

I did that with mine but in the end it's like putting lip stick on a pig. It's a bike that is great for light trail riding, but for heavy use you will start to feel the vague rear wheel flop around because they didn't use enough material to stiffen the rear.

Did you adjust the settings in the Shimano app to 100%? I’m surprised it climbed slower than the Fazua. I have my motor unlocked and set to 75Nm, it climbs faster than my Bosch full power bike

No comments on the shimano electric drivetrain with freeshift? Lookedmlike the bike has the new 8150 shift system. Am I wrong or isnt that something to touch on compared to other motor systems in test?

You are correct and good spotting there! It is really cool and was the only bike with it. The reality for our test crew however was, that aside from trying it out to see how it worked, it wasn't a mind-blowing enhancement that made our rides that much better. But, you are correct, we should have touched on it and that was our bad. It's tough trying to cover all the things we think are important without making videos too long or boring as it's very easy to get into the weeds. Thanks for pointing it out though!

Were you on Profile #2?? Comes on #1 default which is weak AF

The comment was made that the one rider got farther behind while both were in trail mode. The power and torque delivered are fully customizable for each mode. You should have checked to see if the torque settings were similar before commenting on difference in uphill speed.

The steeper head tube angle and shorter reach compared with many make more of a difference than the rear wheel size, since the chainstay length is not too long on the Rise. It's quite agile.

Great video, but you have not mentioned if you used it in profile 1 or profile 2 ??? profile 2 delivers more power !!!!

We rode it in both and also played with the Shimano app a bit. But yes, there is a notable difference between the two preset profiles.

Any comments on Freeshift / autoshift tech? Considering this is probably the only bike on your shootout, it should warrant some info since this tech is lacking reviews all around.

Agreed. I think the M-Team comes with the new Shimano DI2 Groupset. I'm eyeing that as my next bike.

You are correct. It is neat technology and was fun to test out, however our crew really didn't use it regularly. Maybe it's because it's still new and we haven't "relearned" our old riding techniques into shifting while we're not pedaling?? Although it was cool, and we are certain it has areas where it would be very beneficial, most of our riding scenarios and terrain didn't have us using it. But thanks for bringing it up!

well....first Orbea Rise had from the get go outdated (mamil?) geometry.... :/ and battery still not easily replaceable :/

going up hill in the rise is tops, but lets just glance over the fact that the motor rattles downhill like your riding a box store special, but you just spent 10k... i rode the bike for bit, needs diff motor, for the money you spend it should have top tube integration, my version only had a few leds on a wire, .... the rear travel also felt wanting...

Not a huge one. We find long reach or slack head tube angles can be more noticeable, so long as a 29ers chainstay length isn’t also drastically longer.

Getting the fork pressure correct makes a ton of difference. Make sure you dont have it to stiff.
