This may be an old upload but was the best video I have ever seen on a series of car detailing products by the manufacturer (Optimum Car Care). Honest, Direct, and Professional! Nice work on being a part of such a memorable subscriber event Obsessed Garage.
That wipe-off at 10:20 looks extremely easy, never had that with any other polish/compound before...
Just when I think I won’t run across any more intriguing detail videos, I stumble upon a whole freakin series! Thank you very much for this info! I’m taking in way too much info 🤯. I love his thought process behind why they’ve done this or that 🤓. I need more time ⏰😎
Oh sweet another episode in the same day! Your new iMac must be smoking already!
Great series, thanks for sharing your experience with us! Appreciate it
Some fascinating stuff, good call on the denim pad question Matt tons of great info thanks for sharing!
thank you so much for uploading been detailing for 13 years and I am still learning !

Same here man. Learning everyday. It's what drives me.
HOW AWESOME IS THIS??!!!! KEEP THEM COMING MATTY !!
the kid in the background in practically sleeping sitting up lol great video, tons of knowledge and total different concept on the way to do most things I learned
Thanks for sharing this event Matt, it was fun tagging along!
Boss get this rotary it is so awesome hands down better than most other rotary polishers. In my opinion top three.
That Flex rotary is my favorite.
Great information Matt. Using the rotary on the hood looks easy to control but I would like to know the techniques using it on a door panel or fender.
For me 17:24 was the best part
This is really great info. Do you recommend taking their training class? I'm really liking your channel. You don't waste my time. This is critical for me, as I have a real since of urgency in every thing that I do. I'm not getting any younger, and I feel that I might be running out of time. I'm in the process of starting a mobile detailing business out of my Prius. This is my 3rd start up. I've failed twice, it's not going to happen again. I have no plan B. I have a lot of respect for you. Best, Matt
I would have liked to have seen the results with a scangrip type of light. I'm sure his lighting was great but not much can beat something like a scangrip up close to really see the work needed or correction being done.
Awesome!!! Loving this series guys! Come to my WRX! ;)
Thanks for this great video series Matt
Love the vid!
am i mistaken, but did he just correct 1500 grit sand marks with GPS?
Their class should be free if you consider the success of their product hinges on retraining the end user... These videos will go a long way in that direction.

It's one of the best value 2 day detailing classes in the country. $1500 includes two days of hotel, all your meals, and a $500 product credit. You also earn the right to become an installer for their Pro-level coatings if you meet the business insurance requirements.
I love OPT but let's see some close up under the lights pictures of the clear coat please. As somebody mentioned why are all the test panels silver/grey - should be black to show proper before and after. Nice video though and I enjoyed them all

Mac talked about his disappointment when he went to the junk yard to get some hoods. They normally get black or dark blue.
Any good explanation for how you can go from compound to polish without wiping? How does the old compound not interfere with the finishing step?

Most of the abrasives remain in the pad according to Optimum. They are then washed away in the pad washer, or not an issue of the pad is changed.
I just noticed all the sample hoods are silver or grey. Wonder why no Black or dark colors?
@ObsessedGarage

They normally get darker, but that's what Mac was able to get from the junk yard that fit the bill. You want them messed up, but not unusable.
Now I see DIY Detail birth place 🤫
Why use a Flex rotary, when I can get a Dewalt cordless rotary for half the price?
Optimum Hyper Wool Pad the best pad

It's still very much worth being there in person. You will have the opportunity to test the products you want to test. You would also be eligible to be an Opti-Coat Pro and Pro+ installer.
Some great info. What are your thoughts on 1 step polishing for a daily driver?
@ObsessedGarage
7 жыл бұрын
That can certainly work. I just depends on how scratched and how dialed in you want it to look.
What is the finishing technique refered to for the white waffle pad?
When is episode 3 and 4 coming?
For RIDS in the paint would you use foam backed paper or regular paper to leave the surrounding orange peel? Tried to ask jason killmer on another video you made with him? Any info would be great
@ObsessedGarage

I guess it depends on the scratch and how much of it you can safely remove. I would err on the side of 3000 grit with the backing.

I really like using the old school Buff and Shine pads, because they don't have a hole in the middle. I have Red for ultra finishing, Black for GPS, Blue for polishing, and Green for cutting.
Can Norton pure ice sanding discs be used with a DA? If so, I imagine the DA would need to be on the lowest speed setting. Also, best place to buy Norton discs? Thanks in advance!

Good question. I'm not sure.
How do you like the intensive polish after learning about and using the product and would you recomend it as a good one step, does it compare to sonax perfect finish? Also love the videos and channel!
@danlc95
2 жыл бұрын
It's not going to finish down like PF. Hyper Polish is closer to PF. Hyper Polish is also known to finish out nice on soft paints too. You can alter it's cut by changing the pad. Intensive Polish will sometimes leave pretty serious D.A. haze. For instance, if I use it with the orange Optimun waffle pad it can leave a LOT of haze that Hyper Polish struggles to remove. I have had luck using Intensive Polish with their black waffle pad, and green Buff and Shine pads. I've only been working with it for about a year half heartedly. My go to abrasives are all by 3D. ACA500 for heavy cut, 3D ONE for moderate cutting/polishing/finishing, and AAT502 for ultra finishing.
Can I do this by hand and not with a DA?
@ObsessedGarage

The result by hand is generally not as good.
Matt, so coming from this workshop, are you a convert to opti-coat?

I don't know that I say I'm "converted." But I did learn a bunch and will most likely implement a bunch of their products into my process after playing with them for a while.

this shit blows my mind... i wonder what kevin brown would think about this compound no wipe straight into polishing, then wipe the polish with spray wax and you're done? i had someone try to talk me into optimum but i ordered the ole menzerna SIP w/ flat orange lake country / nano white pad combo. that has saved me on most cars from the vette, gt-r, s2000 from heavy swirls to micro marring from shitty dealer prep/PDI jobs. I think we're cut from the same cloth Obsessed.... need a retailer in the austin tx area? i'm retired looking for a new career. i found your channel recently and said i finally found someone as picky as I am.. my girlfriend laughed and said actually i'm a little more fussy haha :)

It is certainly an interesting philosophy based in chemistry. I love the idea that I now have something else to try if what I'm doing isn't working.
