Honestly, if Hasbro end up doing a new leader prime movie figure, they should just upscale this mold, and add a couple of things here and there (wrist swivels, maybe folding up the leg kibble a bit better). This mold is pretty much perfect!

Agreed this is a really good figure.

I'm proud of Hasbro, they definitely improved from the last movie. Sure it has a backpack but it's cleaner and more compact then the AOE Prime.

Man, it’s been like, two years sense I watched this video, damn does this bring back memories

i will get this optimus, because he actually is a good figure, they hide the robot parts very well, there isn't much kibble on the back, and he really looks good

If you want an actual great figure, search up unique toys challenger optimus prime. It has absolutely no kibble, no bulky backpack, and has a sleek robot mode!!

You can take off the kibble. The leg kibble is on ball joints so it’s pretty easy to take off. The doors of the truck are on friction joints. And for the roof, you can either pull it off or press read more to know how to take it off without breaking it. To take it off, you unhinge the chest. There are two screws in between the arm hinges. You unscrew those a teensy bit until the roof is off. (You have to take it off) Then, you can screw the screws back into the chest (without roof in the back). Love ur vids Paul. Keep it up!

Replaced the shield and sword with the Dr. Wu upgrade ones on my figure.

From now 'til the end of time, I shall refer to this design for Optimus as 'evilmus prime'

I'm with you on the designs for the robots. Lockdown didn't really bother me, but Optimus and Bumblebee really took some getting used to for me. I'm really just glad they gave Bee his car door wings back.

Agreed. A third party also made a bigger size of the AOE voyager Optimus. It's called KO Oversized Evasion Mode Optimus Prime.

The head on this version isn't movie-accurate. In Transformers 4 & 5, Optimus' head is mostly silver with stripes of blue.

Great review. After AOE's non-evasion mode Prime, I had pretty much swore off Movie figures. Good to see Last Knight's are heading in a better direction.

You're a really inspiration to me, you show me that no matter how old I get that there is no need to give up on what you love and for you and me that is collecting transformers. While it still has a big backpack, I can't blame them since in the movie Optimus's body has a really sleek design or something like that so honestly this is a really good toy and gives the AOE Optimus mold a much needed improvement.

When I first saw the truck mode, I was certain that it was the same mold as the AOE version, but I was pleasantly surprised, and the transformation took away a lot of the panels that's hanging on the AOE Leader Prime, for a Voyager class, it's a better improvement than the other one, the only real complaint I have is that the AOE Prime had a lot more chrome, including the smoke stacks. Nice review!

It's good they got rid of most of the shell-formerness of the figures and made it have the same feel with the previous toya befor Age of Extinction. Nice review.

I took a VERY close look at what is on the doors, and what's there surprised me. It has the Western Star logo, then what I think is the engine size in cc: 5700, and the option package: OP.

I think this is the first modern truck former that actually has a back trailer hitch section that looks solid

Actually in the movie(AOE) you can see some truck parts on Optimus. For example, the doors of the truck form his chest pecks(if you look closely you can see the door handles), smoke stacks on his back, and the windshield wipers form his ''collar bones''.

The top cap of mine doesn’t go on well but if you organize things enough then 3 of the tabs connect The forth one doesn’t it’s in the back right

I actually have this figure, and the instructions didn't make sense to me on how to transform it into vehicle mode, so I found this video. I eventually got it into vehicle mode, but the tutorial was a total cluster and I ended up pausing it halfway through and doing it myself

Thank you, without this video I never could transform this for my nephew. It is complicated even for an adult

This figure is amazing The Leader Class Has A Back pack but this doesn't have one it looks so good

On my Optimus from going from robot to car, the feet step was messed up and it is VERY difficult to fix it and one of the door panels are messed up

I definitely will get one of these. The age of extinction Optimus figures were never that great at replicating this version of Optimus. But this one I think does way better. The only thing I can see that I wish was better was the paint but aside from that I am fine with it. This goes in my list of figures to buy in this line.

I have a question. Are optimus' arm/shoulder swivels that move his arms supposed to be loose? I had mine for a while but I don't remember if his arms are supposed to be loose. Thanks if anyone answers.

I collect live action tv and movie figures (so not comic or animated) and will be buying the Masterpiece movie versions of transformers, but saw a few of these premier edition figures today and wondered would they be the next best thing? or is there another range i should aim for? do they do premier editions for other movies or just the latest one? i did like them and am kind of feeling the need to start yet another collection i cant afford lol.

Such a great improvement from the Age of Extinction Leader class version. I'm so glad that this version of Optimus Prime is a Voyager class now, and that Hasbro has improved the back junk for this figure, major props to them. Other than that, great review Optibotimus! 😊👌

give the toy a break, because the toys simply cannot delete 90% of the vehicle parts in robot mode like the movie. hate on the movie design that simply had no regard for how it could be made into a good looking toy that works. they made do with what they could at a $25 price tag.

how the hell do you put this guy is truck mode? i followed along with your vid and i still cant get it. the arms wont collapse down to form the hood of truck. i got mad put him back in robot and couldnt figure out how to get the feet back right and the 2 balljoint pieces popped off.

All they honestly need to do is upscale it to the leader class size. Its a great mode but unless the newer leader class gets rid of all the kibble, this is probably the closest we'll get to screen accurate

Hello my Dude! i bought my premier editon Optimus Prime and the top of the cab in vehicle mode won't tab it good for me it keeps popping out, and i was wondering if that happens for you.

Actually, the smokestacks don't disappear in the movies. They're much more compact and closer to the neck, but they're clearly visible in the movies.

I like the mold, but I think I'll wait and see what Takara has to offer in terms of the paint job before I pick this one up. And if there's no difference, there's always Reprolabels.

Will you be reviewing Voyager Class Megatron and Deluxe Class Crosshairs and Deluxe Class Hot Rod?

My only four problems with the figure: Shoulder pads not big enough; Hands don't rotate; The head is poorly painted; The knees can't bend well because of the kibble . If the Figure didn't have this problems, I would probably buy it. But once more, the price will be 35-40$ (5-10$ more than most voyager from 2010-2016)

Really wished you compared this figure side-by-side to the Age of Extinction Leader class version. Seems like a very logical comparison.

Great review on this figure. I agree about not liking how the movie designs throw physics and engineering out the window when making these characters transform. I do love how the back wheels for the back of the truck fold away. It is a huge improvement over the Leader Class version. With a little more paint apps this could be a really nice display piece. I just don't like how the wheels to not have painted rims and the gray plastic looks bad especially for a "Premier" Edition figure. Maybe, Takara will improve on this.

I wonder which how the Voyager Class Optimus Prime and Megatron will vary to their Leader Class figures since for my collection I wanted a "movie-accurate" figure but to make the same to almost similar height to Megatron which I do like leader class Megatron and then I saw that the leader class was a repaint so rip ;-;

If you ask me Hasbro could touch this mold up, upscale it to Leader size, give it a premium paintjob and the result could be one of the best Bayverse figures to date. There's lots of potential in this mold, just like when the original Hasbro Evasion Mode Prime came out. Just look at what Wei Jiang was able to do with that mold. I'm excited to see what Has/Tak or a 3rd party company can do with this new Optimus.

I sure hope Wei Jiang do an oversized version that has more paint apps and is more screen accurate.

I ordered this guy and Voyager megatron, and after watching the AoE leader figure right before this, WOW. They did a hell of a lot better job this time. Not only does he look great, but he has no huge backpack, which is the reason why I hated the other, even if it wasn't their fault. Props to them.

I can't wait till these figures come out next week my uncle promised me he would take me to toys r us and get a good spot in line but if they don't do the midnight thing then he will just take me and get some figures

Big improvement over the previous movie prime figure, definitely picking this one up along with the new deluxe bumblebee and Scorn.

Actually the smoke stacks are present in the CGI design for Optimus in both AOe and TLK. It's just not as noticeable as they are in the toys.
