OPT , and how to the process works to get your H1B to Green Card to US Citizenship.

Correction: in the video, I said that the GC process takes 10 to 15 years. The correct wait time is anywhere between 15 to 100 plus years.
Though laws are dynamic and keep changing this I feel, that a 20-year time frame is feasible.
How does the OPT work,
And the next steps to get your US Citizenship in USA.

Bro wow, you explained it so good. Is there any video discussing transition from F1 student -> EAD (60 days) -> F1 OPT ->H1b? including the timelines, what if you lose job maybe when you are in F1 OPT or when you are on H1B? Also, let's take an example, I am graduating in 2024. I get 3 yrs of F1 OPT (STEM course), first two attempts of H1B failed, but last attempt worked, so am getting 2+3 years of stay right? ++ other H1B (3years) or I140 years... now if my H1B is picked in first attempt only, then I would be like only 3 years + ++ other H1B (3years) or I140 years...? Is it right calculation?

Hi Shria, I believe the world of immigration laws is dynamic in nature, laws change with time. Though the current wait time people say is over 100 years to get accepted for green card. I believe otherwise because immigration in my opinion will only get better with time, though it has been hard for past few years. I have an optimist view at the end of the day, but that’s not the facts. Congratulations to you and your husband for I-140.

Hi, could I know, would the company apply for my H1B directly on my behalf or I need to apply and request the HR dept. to proceed ? Most importantly, is the H1B visa approval process like a lottery? If so, let's assume only 20% gets drawn from the lottery-box and accepted. So if my application isn't drawn in the 3 years consecutively. If it's a lottery system there's a good chance of many students not getting accepted. Their situation will be worse off if they take out student loans isn't it ?

Yes that’s true, for the current applicants on EB2 it may be 80 to 100 years in some cases 150 years. Though some of my friends who applied 15 years back recently got it. So it depends on when you applied or are planning to apply.

You are oversimplifying the transition from OPT to H1B. H1B is through a lottery. So, even if a company is willing to sponsor your H1B, you still have to be the one selected in the H1B lottery. I have known ppl who keep doing more than one Masters to keep trying for the H1B. There is a limit of 3 times to apply for the H1B lottery. After that, one has to self deport.
