Many years ago i had to drill out 2 x holes at either end of a 2 metre aluminium pole which fitted through the rotator on a mast for the antennas. The result was as you guess off set holes. A new 2 metre galvaniszed pole arrived yesterday and wondered how i could align the holes accurately as i do not have any jigs and rigs to do it like some of the videos i watched last night . Came across your video and thought ,that looks a good idea. So this morning what i did was ,i had a straight piece of wood to draw a straight line along the pole . I have to make 2 holes either end of pole to line up so the 2 x antennas can lay exactly horizontal with each other. This is important to accurately line up to point at the satellite while tracking its movement . The other reason was we had very high winds which shifted one of the antennas on the pole which put it way out of alignment . Also the aluminium pole was getting crushed as i tightened the bolts. By doing these modifications the antennas will not move out of alignment from each other,which makes it more secure. I have followed your video and made the template and marked the holes with a punch, drilled out the 2 holes at one end . And would you believe it when i put the same drill i used through the holes they lined up ,perfect job done. I am extremely happy that it worked. Now i am away to do the other end of the pole. When i drew out the templete i added a dashed line through where the the holes would be and it line up with the intersection hole in middle of paper templete. Absolutely brilliant idea of yours,wish i had known about this years ago. Thank you for sharing this idea.
