Opposing Views | How Two Class 12 Students From Different Boards See CUET | The Quint

Ever since the common entrance test has been made mandatory for undergraduate admissions to central universities, students have been divided in their thoughts. We speak to two students from different boards and different states to ascertain if this will benefit all equally. Both share pros and cons of the entrance exam, as they see it.

In my understanding, CBSE students are more aware of their studies than state boards. They are good at other activities. As a state board student, I agree with that girl, our school never teach us related about after 10th education that's why most students suffer after 10th. In my experience, I was good at maths till 10th but after everything is kinda new for me. I know CBSE schools have more fees but somewhere there is a lack of education in the state board or I studied in an inadequate school!

I’m studying 12th Standard from Karnataka State Board, our History, Political science textbooks are prescribed by Karnataka state government which is different from NCERT textbook. There are some topics similar but the NCERT & State syllabus doesn’t match And the syllabus for CUET is NCERT which we haven’t studied. So what we are supposed to do now ? They could have announced it last year itself 🙂. Even our college isn’t bothered about it. To be honest Our today’s Education system of India is just garbage. Why there is no uniform/Equal Syllabus for all the students throughout the country ! This is so bad

This will create a new coaching industry and these coching industry will take the exam above any board level as jee and neet are. Most of board toppers not make their way to NIT OR IIT without coaching same thing will happen to this exam also.

Cuet is ncert level. And application based. For aptitude part u need brain and for subjects board level studies are enough, if u are smart.

To be fair cutoff for entrance in central universities have skyrocketed already, atleast everyone will get the same marking scheme in cuet unlike boards

CUET is more or less like everyone will sit for the CBSE 12th board exam but instead of 5 or 6 papers there will be a single paper. And since individual colleges can still set a cut off so our boards results isn’t completely waived off.

NET ki baat karti hun...UGC pehle dikhae ki unreserved category mei uski demographic distribution kya hei based on regions where students did their highest degree of education (like for some it might be masters, some it might be mphil, for some it might be PhD). I can guarantee that it won't be well distributed. For those who remained in their state, u didn't leave any chance for them, n those who qualify NET from top universities they won't go to d University where their own alumni couldn't qualify NET, So most of those University end up taking students who qualified NET using reservation
