This is so hilarious! 60 minutes tries to do a hit piece, and in the process, proves all of Mom's for Liberties points. How is it that 5 books were deemed not to be appropriate? The whole segment, the show insinuated there were no inappropriate books. If there is even 1, then it exposes how lacked the system is that these books aren't actually read by the people promoting them.

Moms (not) For Liberty bans books they don’t agree with but they were OK with one of their chapters posting a quote by H!tler in their newsletter. The bottom line is - if you don’t want you kids to read certain books, don’t let them read those books. But, you don’t have the right to deny other kids access to those books. By demanding the books be removed, what these parents are saying, in essence, is they don’t trust their own parenting skills and they don’t trust their kids.

I feel bad for parents with kids who do turn out to be LGBT and those parents not having resources at libraries to answer their questions about their child's experience. Total bans on books is a violation of freedom of speech. A reasonable compromise is to have parent restriction on certain books, but they aren't interested in compromise or freedom of speech.

@misssamartypants where did I say it's sad? Do you know how to read, I agreed with the need for compromise, put restrictions on certain books, put them up where not just any child can access them but who are you to decide for other children that aren't yours, do you know for a fact that ALL parents agree with your opinion? NO, you don't because you don't speak for all parents. What I do find sad is the fact that grown-ups can't find common ground, one that keeps your children from reading what you don't want them reading but still allows other people access who's parents don't have issues with it. You don't speak for all parents and those aren't all your kids. Worry about your children stop trying to force your values on everyone else. If you have a problem with my belief in compromise that doesn't have an impact on my class at all, but the things you say and your opposition to compromise says so much about you.

If teachers could indoctrinate students, they'd read hundreds of books per year, every student would be 5 grades above grade level in reading, math, and in every other subject, would speak 3-4 languages fluently, and would be compassionate and critical thinking citizens. No teacher has time to indoctrinate like m4l claims.

@@ChannelMath Just because there is crap on the internet isn’t a free pass for content that has violence and pornographic material in it, to be in school libraries or being given to students to read as an assignment to discuss in a group setting the next day. Seems like there are quite a few of you , who are completely out of the loop on what’s been going on in schools across this country! Maybe if your so interested knowing a title of a book , watch some of the school board meetings on line with parents reading out loud what’s in some of these books!!! There’s no other way to put it but it’s pornographic material. Actually listening to it as they beep out the explicit sexual content out of it but was still disgusting because I knew exactly what was being said in the book , by the words they didn’t beep out. Just like in this case. How is it that 5 books were said to be to graphic ! How come Me. 60 minutes didn’t ask the titles of those books and go in to detail what was in them. How come your not asking what the titles of those books were. By the way if you think it’s books are just a problem it’s obvious all of you are out of touch what’s been going on. Weird how 60 minutes man was talking about grooming but he didn’t bother to bring the incident in Florida involving the 13 yr old girl. Who tried to end it all twice at school after a counselor convinced her she wanted to be a boy! All stemming from her saying she liked to watch her brother play X box! Of course they didn’t tell the parents they had changed her so called pronouns! It was just between her and the student. No one needed to know. Until the counselor decided to out her in front of a group a girlfriend’s she’s know all her life. Then she started being bullied. First time she tried they never even notified the parents! Second time they had no choice. She almost succeeded! Then the counselor had the nerve when the parents showed up to blame it on them. That POS had it so the hospital wouldn’t allow the parents in to see their own daughter! Even though they could hear their daughter crying asking for them. They didn’t want the daughter taking to the parents before she did! So she could fill her head with more BS! But it didn’t work once they got a lawyer! Then the daughter told her parents everything! So that my friend is called grooming !! That’s just one case of many many , many, many happening across this country!!

Would you be for an increase in taxes to 'close the border'? Every serious report on the border is that the current laws are unenforceable because of the cost they incur. So would you be for higher taxes to create a more secure border? Trump didn't fix these laws when he was in office and had complete control over a majority Republican congress; he failed on this issue. He pardoned his buddy Banon for embezzling on a wall project but didn't pardon the 6th Rioters before he left office; Trump is disloyal to his own followers. Trump also had two records as President, largest deficit and largest increase of national debt during his ONE term because he lowered taxes for us wealthy people. What makes you think Trump will succeed in a 2nd term when he clearly failed on these issues during his first? Trump convinced the Republicans to not vote for the immigration reform the Republicans wanted while Biden was in office. I see this as proof that Trump cares more about winning than he does ACTUALLY solving the border problem. He failed before and he's not a good leader.

A lot of them aren't problematic in any way, and the "explicit" sex sections you describe weren't any more graphic than what I saw in sex ed. The issue moms with liberty (and other conservative groups has) is that they often teach about gay sex as well. Since conservatives has an instinctive disgust response to homosexuality, they immediately see it as something perverse. Instead of realizing that kids realize they are gay quite young and that it benefits them to understand what safe sex is. We didn't ban any of these books for decades. They aren't grooming anyone, nobody cared at all until it became A POLITICAL ISSUE.
