It’s also that journalism is a disaster. Why is Julian Aassange in jail? Where did COVID come from? Who killed Jeffrey Epstein? Who are the shareholders for The Federal Reserve and what does The Fed do? Who blew up The Nordstream Pipeline? Why do we support Ukraine and don’t care that people in Sudan are starving because of a ten-year genocide? The entirety of the government is organized crime, and the media is complicit.

My parents are 70 and 72 years old. Divorced, remarried, etc.. and by all accounts seemingly happy, financially stable, and content with everything. They've come to peace with life. Ones retired and ones on the brink of retirement and is only working because she wants to. When I asked them roughly 8 or so years ago, give or take, if they wanted to be young again and do it all over each of them immediately said "no!" It took me by surprise and really got me thinking. I found that to be very eye opening and the world has gotten much worse since then so I can only imagine how they feel now.

It upsets me to no end because this anger is soooo misplaced. Democracy works. The reason why people are angry is because the government literally does not represent the people, and it's been this way for the better part of 40 years. People should be putting their anger towards corruption, money in politics, and wealth inequality (since wealth = power).

The issue here is about _how_ we combat corruption, and the tension _here_ is what is tearing our country to shreds. The _proper_ solution to reduce corruption is to make structural changes _lawfully,_ but how do you deal with demagogues who are literally willing to violate the Rule of Law to go after corrupt politicians? It would help no doubt. If “journalist” would go out and be just that it would make some media useful and not as devices. To do the journalism I’m asking for one would have to put away their political bias and sometimes feelings in general and just give us the facts in a way that proves those things are indeed facts and is simple enough to read and understand. I’ve seen some say they are doing those things but quickly you see them putting their personal feelings into the reporting and you know exactly who they will be voting for. Another huge thing to me is putting an end to calling everyone who questions the norm a conspiracy theorists. Sure we have tons of conspiracy theories and theorists but questioning the narrative that’s popular is not the same. Also I’ll even take up for the conspiracy theories. The real ones. THEY ARE NOT DANGEROUS at minimum 98-99 % of the time so stop calling them dangerous. The whole jan 6 thing and fraudulent election have both been used but one by the left and one by the right. I as a conservative thought that a bunch of armed citizens shot at least 6 police officers on jan 6 in cold blood and possibly almost had Nancy Pelosi by the hair of her head but she slipped away just surviving. It took months for me to find out that actually just one person was shot and killed on that day and it was a Lady who fought for this country who shouldn’t have been in the building but got shot in the face dead. Most of the 6 police officers they report died on (or sometimes say died because of) January 6 died of suicide and simple health problems starting Jan 7th and the last they mention committed suicide sometime in NOVEMBER. Then all the videos of cops watching people walk around change the narrative especially the fact not one person “defending” the capital died thank goodness doing so. As for Trump trying to start an insurrection lol. Some dumb people pushed their way into the capital and shouldn’t have period. But an insurrection it was absolutely not. Dumb yep. Bait for the liberal media to beat up on conservatives yep. But not an insurrection. He could have had an insurrection and thank God he didn’t. Now the voter fraud thing is insane as well. I haven’t believed it from day one but I do believe at least at some level Trump does or for sure did. The whole “find the votes” in Georgia is simple he didn’t say “find me some fake votes or votes at all cost only for me”. Now as the Biden years have gone by I’ve found myself instead of believing that voter fraud didn’t occur questioning it. Not because of evidence but rather the evidence the Democratic Party of the USA will do some nasty things and that includes tons of bureaucrats at places like the FBI and throughout the justice system. They are absolutely willing to play politics and it’s not just a few but a bunch. So then you have questions about the people answering questions about this kinda stuff. Who is one to believe idk. Who had the better economical situation while President. Clearly mean tweeting Trump. Who changed anything Trump had done even if it was clear it was working “for example the sanctions on Iranian Oil exports that had them saying on recordings they were too broke to give there proxies more money” Biden was told this in the debriefing between presidents and said to hell with Trumps good ideas and broke US laws by no longer enforcing the sanctions. Quickly they made billions and had plenty to pay proxies like Hamas to act like animals. I’ve vented enough.

@@cannotfindmyshoes3 Yeah I think it was a MIT professor, that predicted a global societal collapse by 2040 due to the population reaching around 10 billion people. We are at 8 billion now. Earth can only take so much abuse and unfortunately resources will become more and more finite. Now, there have been several times smaller clusters of civilizations have thought it was the end times when plagues such as the black death and Spanish flu broke out, but those beliefs were based on disease and religion. This is different, it's based off of numbers and worldwide data and trends. This predicted collapse doesn't mean the entire human race will go extinct, but many will perish and those who do survive will have it pretty rough. I also believe not everyone should have children due to not having the means to properly take care of them, as well as so many people are setting their children up for failure. I personally won't ever have children unless I adopt but I'm struggling to make it on my own and I fear what is to come.

Oh the government absolutely does listen to the will of the people. The supreme court unfortunately decided that corporations are people and money is speech so there's a tiny handful of people who are just so much louder than everyone else getting what they want.

  • @tracychristenson177

On the contrary, I think the will of the people is a major problem by itself. I think many people in general don't have a strong concept of what it is they really do want, leaving them to accept whatever seems to be on offer or the voice of the person who's yelling the loudest, and those who do know exactly what they want often don't want things that would actually be good for anybody. The people in the second category tend to the be ones who yell the loudest and are the most prevalent on social media.

The problem is in the business model, not the technology. Also most of the damage is down stream. The effects on traditional media, political parties, elites, and government. It has made the control system more visible, as it becomes more hyperbolic and that system predates social media. It's the greed destroying us. Capitalism was introduced to the world by Karl Marks in Das Kapital. It was designed to destroy the world to usher in socialism. It was a sociopathic parasitism of the pure individual, incompatible with a collective society.

Always love this show. So many good parts included in this session. My favorite part in the beginning session regarding social media was the fact that China who owns the TikTok has a different standard for their own country and yet we mark China and call them the bad guy yet they’re doing everything they can to ensure that their children are educated and they have inspirational information put in front of her face. The segment in the end about the small town is very heartbreaking. You know they began that segment by talking about the major corporations that established himself there, and had factories and all of that dried up and went away when those companies took their manufacturing to Mexico and China to put more money in their own pockets. The fact of the matter is those people are right it doesn’t really matter who’s in office anymore because they’re not voting and passing policies that really matter. It’s just more culture war and more pointing the finger than actually getting things done to protect American, and their dreams. The NAFTA programs was one of the great destructive powers of the American economy. We’ve given corporations way too much power over people and unfortunately the result as what this segment was showing. You can ask any great economist and they’ll tell you that one of the best ways to stimulate any economy is to put the money in the hands of the people. 70% of the American economy is consumerism. You take that small town to 15,000 people and you put money in their hands and they will spend it in their local economy. Henry Ford knew this. He knew that if he didn’t pay enough for his own people to afford the products they were making what was the point? He knew that if they didn’t have enough money that the businesses would fail. That’s what this segment was showing us, and this rings true for thousands of small towns all across the US. we need to get corporations under control in America. We need to stop them from sending jobs overseas. Until those things change America as a whole will continue on that same trajectory, which again is the greatest inequality of wealth this country has ever seen.

I read my brother's family cards, papers, and 22 year olds are unable to write legibly, and cursive is no longer taught. Cursive is infact punished in Schools. Everyone with a phone in their hand no longer do arithmetic in their minds, much less algebra. Algebra was taught in junior high when I was growing up, and then you went up to Calculas & Physics as a Senior before graduating if you chose to focus on Mathematics. Or you could focus on Literature, or Chemistry, or Biology.😢 This is why I am scared. 6:12 While I was attending the University of Wisconsin about 15 years ago I had one particularly memorable classmate, a young woman who evidently experienced a VERY sheltered upbringing, which resulted in her having a very shortsighted disposition, as well as a very serious set of anger issues. She was constantly disrupting lectures anytime something came up she found even the slightest bit "upsetting", of which were seemingly infinite in number. My most vivid recollection of her was a meltdown she had during a lecture so explosive they could hear her screaming in the building next door. So much some of us started nicknaming her "Triggerella". Ironically, the year after I switched universities, there was an incident where she had another meltdown and punched another student in the mouth during a lecture, and was subsequently expelled.

This country IS NOT a democracy on paper, but we have treated our republic as such, thus our country is about to fail, in exactly the same way that Plato predicted that democracy would fail

I live in upstate NY a section of the rust belt of this country. What I notice is that relations of my wife which are close enough to DC or in DC seem to have no idea what struggling sections of the country are going thru. I think it is because our tax dollars get spread disproportionately into the DC region and it flourishes while the rust belt hunkers down and keeps paying their taxes somehow. Does this ring true in other parts of the country? I'm glad for my relations doing good I just think it needs to spread to the majority of the country.

What is the main economy of Washington DC? In 2022, the government and government enterprises industry FUELED BY FEDERAL TAXES added the most real value to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the District of Columbia, amounting to around 44.39 billion U.S. dollars. Comparatively, the information industry contributed around 12.34 billion U.S. dollars to the districts real GDP. Why is the GDP per capita so much higher in Washington, D.C., compared to the rest of the country? A big part of this comes from comparing the per capita GDP of the city proper to other states in the United States. You’ll find that Washington DC at $160K a year is about three times that of the next state, Massachusetts at $60K. Again, federal taxes provide a deep well of money for the highest wages in the country.

@@RossMorton I poorly described my point. I don't dispute the confrontation, I dispute that it's a bad thing. These cultural confrontations are the basic outcome of having so much information at our fingertips. A person in the desert now has access to ideas about life formerly inaccessible to them. And we're social beings, so to keep people from exchanging socially on the internet is like trying to unbreak an egg. And so, one should ask which powers are strongest. The argument here is that human violence is strongest. Confrontation also has a way of exposing truth, say the truth that science can supply a method to cure your disease that was formerly the sole purview of god's will to heal you. Science wins; people increasing replace god's purview with human understanding. That's confrontation, and it's why we have cognitive dissonance to break through. It's always been the case; it just happens faster now. Blaming social media at this point is like blaming that people have voices, or that we had town halls. This media bemoans that it now has competition from individuals like you and me right here. In other words, they wish to AVOID what you and I are presently doing! Harari is excellent at describing and dissecting such confrontational problems: kzread.info/dash/bejne/apOt1td-gszIdLw.html
