He had made the French capitulate, brought Europe to its knees and launched the largest extermination operation in history by deporting millions of Jews. Adolf Hitler was willing to do anything to achieve his dreams of domination. To stop the dictator, the British forces, the French resistance fighters or the German opponents imagined numerous scenarios aimed at assassinating him. However, each attempt proved to be a failure. One of the most emblematic is that planned by a German officer Claus Schenk Von Stauffenberg during the plot of July 20, 1944 at the Wolfsschanze, the Führer's headquarters located in East Prussia. But the attempt only hurt him and resulted in a radical reduction in his public appearances. On a daily basis, Hitler was too well protected and his closest lieutenants were constantly on guard.

Très intéressant !
It's a highly debated question. Should Hitler have been assassinated? His incompetence as a military leader is not debatable. Starting a two front war, micromanagement of his field generals, failing to invade England immediately after the evacuation of Dunkirk. You have to balance this with the likely aspect of a negotiated settlement that could avoid the horror of a continued war and perhaps avoid some of the 50 million people killed in the war.
I love how in love the world is with Nazi documentaties. " If it bleeds it leads" They did have snazzy uni's.

Up until the United States entered the war, liquidating Hitler might have been usefull. Once The United States entered the war, Britain was assured victory and replacing Hitler with a competent commander in chief who might be able to offer reasonable terms of surrender was not in the interests of Britain any longer and until the US had the bomb we were willing to accept any terms Britain wanted for her help against Japan. We didn't end up needing it, but we couldn't have foreseen that.
