I’d love to see you react to some of the singing ventriloquists. Darci Lynn is a 16 year old who has a powerful singing voice, even through her dolls, and Terry Fator does wonderful singing impressions. Both won prior seasons of America’s Got Talent. Hearing you react to how they sing without moving their lips would be interesting.

My son is buried at Arlington. He served 6 years before an IED took him. I took his three kids there and we had a little picnic at his headstone. As we left his six year old said " Papa, I think daddy is happy with all his friends around him. ". That little girl just kills me sometimes.

We Salute you! So sorry for your loss. At Thanksgiving if we host it, I put an empty seat at the table, with my VFW color guard shirt over the seat. Before prayer I tell everyone seated this is to remind us of the Gold Star Families that have an empty chair at thier table from thier FALLEN /MIA /POW loved one who could not join them. I don't care if they are uncomfortable, it is my way of Never Forgetting.

They're the reason why I always stood for the pledge of allegiance back in high school. A friend had asked me why i would stand for the pledge of allegiance, and I told her that " You see a flag with some stars and stripes, but I look at the flag and see the blood of all those who fought, who gave their lives, who lost limbs, who shed blood and tears, and for my two brothers who are serving. I feel as if I'm slapping them in the face if I don't do this."

My father named me for his older brother who didn't make it home from Europe in WW II. Dad did but lost his hero ... his big brother and at yet he was deeply proud of their service but rarely spoke about things. He earned the honor of being laid to rest in Arlington and since the day he got his piece of sacred ground the meaning of Arlington truly hit home - and this song helped me heal from his no longer being in my life. I was able to understand better the man he was and all he did for me and so many others. The words that get me every time "on sacred ground in the best of company ... I'm one of the chosen ones I made it to Arlington ... " Everyone should visit there one day and listen to the quiet and then to the peel of 21 guns and the mournful wail of taps as the bugler offer the final salute as another is laid to rest ... it will move you in a way that will change you forever - in a good way!

❤️ While I also find it sad, I probably hear it differently since my father is a vet and eligible for burial at Arlington (he has chosen to be buried at a different national cemetery). I find it profoundly beautiful and heartwarming that the soldier made it home and not left in a field somewhere overseas. A salute to the Blue Star and Gold Star families out there. Blue Star families have a direct family member serving in a war zone. Gold Star families lost a direct family member to war. God bless them all!

This song brings me so much pride and sorrow. All my family members who have served qualify to be burried in Arlington cemetery when they pass. My boyfriends cousin passed overseas and is burried there . It’s such a powerful song and should bring a realization that this is why we don’t disrespect the flag or soldiers that were lucky to come home safe.

Trace Adkins does a lot for wounded vets. Even those who never served, can give to those who were wounded, giving all they could for our Nation. It fills me with pride, to know I can put my name next to others who have served as everyone's protectors.

Having a family with a military background (most of my great uncles/ my grandpas, and a few uncles and cousins) this song always gets me. Military funerals (outside of Arlington) are super emotional. The Taps and the guns, the folding of the flag, to a soldier handing off the flag to their loved one on behalf of the president and all of The United States. It’s so emotional and really the most respectful type of burial. Beautiful reaction ❤️

This song hits me like no other. I personally have a friend buried there. Hes the reason I'm only at 4%0 disabled. I pay my respects to him whenever I manage to get there. He defiantly earned his place there. Thank you for what you said about The Veteran's. Nice to know that not everyone has forgotten us.

The part of this song that always makes me crack is the end of the second verse, when his grandfather recognizes him and salutes. Both my grandfathers were in WWII; I served at the very end of the Cold War (under Reagan and Bush), and this one song just rips through me.

As a tradition (of sorts) I play this song to myself during every holiday… I don’t care which one. I’m lucky to be an American and humbled by the price so many people have paid simply to let me see another day. I often end those days listening to it before bed, and it still brings me to tears….. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Maggie, there are songs like this one that I catch myself singing along to when I hear it and I always just get so hung up on the words, what they mean and the significance behind them. One thing I’ve always wanted to know is how do professional singers do songs like this and not get the same way? Have you ever sung a song or piece of an opera that was just so emotional for you that you had a hard time (emotionally) performing? I know you practice over and over again, but maybe it just doesn’t go away? I’d be interested in your opinion here! God bless all my brother and sister veterans! ❤️🇺🇸👍🏻
