Opening the Class 350 EMU by Bachmann
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Finally! I'm not quite sure why it took me so long to get round to reviewing one of these but I'm most definitely now part of the '350 Club'. It is without a doubt the best EMU I've reviewed so far. As you'll see in the video there were a few minor issues to contend with but nothing that could detract from the awesomeness that is this very special train. Enjoy!

This is a stunning model mate, can't wait for the follow up video, hope its soon! :D Another fab video as always!
Unless I'm mistaken the full yellow end units are class 350/1 and the half yellow end are 350/2, the 350/1 are intended for longer distance runs so have less cramped and fewer seats than 350/2 which are intended for shorter commuter runs, but often they end up on each others diagrammes, 350/3 are a new batch for London Midland and 350/4 are the Trans Pennine batch being delivered now
Awesome review. Gone through most of your part videos over the winter and looking forward to Season 5.

do you have a model railway and if you do make a video on it
Thanks so much for this I was thinking about buying one, I'm going to buy one in about 3 hours hopes it works fine, excellent review !
top video like all rest I am just starting my first layout since a kid and it was already made up so all new to me so I have watched lots of your videos and they have been very helpful thanks glen
You have got to get the Bachmann Windhoff MPV. It's amazingly detailed, performs brilliantly and you can change its load which hasn't been done with any other train. It's so unique
Great review well done. I want one now.
Hey i would love to see just a video of your collection and how you have them stored. You have such a wide range of stuff. Love your videos man keep them coming. Thanks
That train is GORGEOUS!!
Jumped one of them from Crewe to Stone for a canal boat holiday, love the colour scheme on them, It's on my 'to get' list :) Thanks for the review
You’re the only one I like with trains !
Great review will, Certainly will be going on my future 'to buy' list. Lets hope my ballasting on my layout has enough clearance :) Cheers, Steve
I like the review of the class 350, I have got my self both Bachmann Class 350, 101 and 238 both trains work vary well, I have also got an ARRIVA Trains Wales Class 67 with Arriva Coaches and an Arriva DVT as well

I've wanted one for years your videos are amazing I'm getting one this Christmas for my self 280 quid ebay brand new ❤
I like the 350s and this is a superb model. Great to see EMUs are enjoying a revival in the modelling world! Here's hoping Bachmann will do other EMU classes such as 321/322/320 and 313/314/315/, or maybe some of the older types like 304/5/8 etc. I'm looking forward to seeing their class 90. They have set the bar high with the 85 and this 350.
I love the blue plaque on the skirting board!
The LM Livery application to this 350 is so much more accurate than the Class 170 they did! Very nice :D
Ahh thank you thank you thank you. Finally a LM Review. Thanks will that's ace
Nice video! I can't believe you didn't do this one sooner as I've been following your channel for a couple of years now. Anyway, I have the 350/2 variant which had the exact same issue with the end car's bogie, possibly a factory problem? I don't know. Obviously the lack of third rail pick ups lead to me never having that clearance problem that yours had. I have to agree with you though, overall the model is beautiful and in my eyes one of my absolute favourites! The interior lights with DCC are quite frankly amazing! If you're looking for more EMUs, try the Class 411 or 416? The 416 is a lovely little model. I may do a video of it myself in a few months as I never see any reviews of it. Anyway, keep at the videos! You've inspired me over the last few years and I really look forward to seeing the 'proper layout' which you've been mentioning for ages haha. All the best, Joe from Dudley Street.
fantastic review good job, more videos please
The class 350/1 was supposed to be 5-car class 450s for SWT but they were diverted to LM to be what they are today so they are practically identical to the class 450. The 450s have a recess for a pantograph in case a future AC conversion for the SWML goes ahead. When 377s were subleased from southern to FCC they periodically used the 350/1s on the west london line until more 377s were built. They were never tested on 3rd rail beforehand because they are the same as the 450s on 3rd rail.
Another brilliant Video InterCity82 .. Well done. I am looking forward to the next Video IC82 Series 5 Review. I loved every second of this Video InterCity82 .. I liked watching you Review the Bachmann Branch-Line Class 350 EMU 4 Car Set. This is a brilliant bit of kit to have on a Model Railway. Really detailed and nice to look at. I even enjoyed you adding in scenes showing the viewers of how tackled obstacles with the coupling system, to show people what problems they could have with a Bachmann Branch-Line Class 350 4 Car Set. so they know what to expect and how to deal with them if they have the same problems you had with your one. I also see that you have a new friend with you to help you Review your trains and have the same fun with a Model Railway too. Do you know who I am talking about InterCity82 .? I think you have got it! It's Henry Xtra the Hoover! I think he has maybe arrived to start eating (Sucking) up your trains while you are not looking. Of course, a Henry Xtra Hoover has been sent as they can hold more in their Storage Tanks (Stomach). I would watch this device if I where. Who know's what trouble it will be doing when nobody is looking?
you should review the class 166. AMAZING detail!
Another excellent review Will, it's a beautiful modal and is fact the jewel in my fleet, although the couplings are a pain and I too had the same problems with that end boogie. I have to tell say, you really must DCC it and record it soon as it really adds the train, the slow speed is incredible and the lighting is actually phenomenal. Also it is probably the easiest unit to chip. So yeah you wont regret it as it makes it 10 times better.
Excellent review. Interesting your problems about bogie.
Another excellent video. Excellent detailing on the model but a pity about the couplings. Surprised that Bachmann haven't sorted the problems out at source.
Great unit and another great review. See those all the time would be nice to see the Pendolino catch up and overtake like they do on the 4 track mainline running down here. Did notice that the a in midland on the pantograph unit seems to have a bit rubbed off it?
nice video love the class 350
Yeah the south west train variation is a class 450 and is 3rd rail only. There is a longer 5 coach version that is the class 444. However the model class 350 and the real class 350/1 are dual voltage (can work on catenary and 3rd rail) also the 350/1 has been re-geared recently to go at 110 mph. Hope this helps
Great video, when I saw your post I new you'd do a video too.
best video yet will
Fantastic review mate, I will be investing in one at some point over the year. I tried lifting a real one at Crewe station but it wouldn't fit into the car hahaha ;-)

Class66Rocks you should have slung it on the roof rack.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yay thanks for doing it
I like the virgin class 57s in the siding. Great video will
Southern Trains borrowed a few of these for East Croydon - Milton Keynes runs a few years back. Had terrible trouble running them on the third rail as although they have shoe gear I don't think the software was set up for it or something and they kept failing. There's a 444 down here as well as the 450 you mentioned earlier which I believe Bachmann are bringing out soon. It's 5 cars and meant for longer distances. It has a single door each end of the coach as well, Inter City style.
i have the class 350/1 by bachmann and i used a moist bar of soap to lub the coupling pins and it sure helps to push them in easier
Thanks for the video, I really want to get one.
Great vid as usual Will, I have this model and found the bogie issues as well, however apart from that superb runner. next job is to chip her.
The Hornby Class 50 suffers the same problem with the coupling locking up over its own detailed underframe. It's quite a major design flaw really! We don't all have large sweeping curves and acres of space to work with. It is curious how the problem manifests predominantly one end!.. I've watched a few people review the 350 and not seen this problem yet so either you're incredibly unlucky with your model's tolerances or other people aren't being honest! The motor and tooling is based on the 411/412s that Bachmann already made and if it's anything like my 411 the running is absolutely perfect (once you've got it couple up of course!) Shame the boggie lets it down a little but it's definitely still on my list to get. Great detailed review
you beat me to giving Will the information what I forgot to say when the video came out
definitely got to get one at some point
Good video could you do a review of the first trans penine express silver train please 😃
you are right Will, the 350/1 has a full yellow gangway end, and the 350/2 has a 1/2 yellow gangway. there really isn't much difference between them, except the 350/1 has a 3rd rail DC 'shoe' where as the 350/2 doesn't. 350/2s also have 2+2 seating. 350/1s also have a much louder horn as well, where as 350/2s horns are much softer and seem to sound quite odd!
The Bachmann Collectors club model this year you get a great central J11 in black with red and with stripes
South West Trains use these too but they are class 450 using the Third Rail system down here. They also have a 5 coach version, class 444!

Bachmann do a oo class 450
beutiful! my Ngauge set arrives soon ;)
Lovely review. At 0:55 you were talking about the pantograph. Can the train actually take an electrical signal from that and use it to power its way along? (the only oo gauge i have is a virgin valenta HST)
For me the Class 350/1, 350/2 & 350/3 does these services: Euston to Rugeley Trent Valley Euston to Crewe via Walsall & Rugeley Trent Valley Birmingham New Street to Walsall Walsall to Liverpool Lime Street Wolverhampton to Rugeley Trent Valley Coventry to Walsall Coventry to Rugeley Trent Valley On services from Euston, if it's coupled together, at Birmingham it decouples because of how long the platforms are from Walsall & Rugeley Trent Valley. Some services do express services calling at Tame Bridge Parkway, Walsall then all stop to Rugeley Trent Valley and North If it goes to Walsall then it calls at Tame Bridge Parkway only Others do all stopper Class 323's do these services: Wolverhampton to Walsall Birmingham to Rugeley Trent Valley Birmingham Int'l to Walsall Birmingham Int'l to Rugeley Trent Valley (This is on the Chase Line which speed limit is 75MPH btw)
I'm getting a class 350 EMU for Christmas in the same livery.
Can you please supply me of a picture with the third rail "shoes" because I can't seem to find the differences between the bogies.
Got one in the Silverlink Apollo livery!
There is a class 450 which runs from London Waterloo to places like Portsmouth, Alton, Reading,Poole Along with loads of other places
There is a diesel and electric version of the Desiros, the Class 185 'Desiro Pennine' is a diesel train.
The one that you were talking about which is a 450 which I see go through Poole.
I might be getting this for my birthday! B.
It's the 450 class 4 car unit from Southwest trains I've never been in one before but seen them between London Waterloo and Bournemouth
so good I might even get one for my n gauge
Acturley, the Class 450 came first. The 350s came around because a batch of 5 coach Class 450s were cancelled and the coaches were reformed into a new train for another company which became the Class 350. The only difference between the 350 and 450 is the 350s have pantographs fitted along with 3rd rail shoes (on the 350/1s) and the 450s are mainly 3rd rail. Other than that the two classes are identical except in operators and fittings.
I like 350 \ 380 new trains we go up in Scotland . we have on wemyss bay and gourock . largs & Ayr & Ardrossan harbour . that smooth
I have been on that train from Tamworth to London.
that linear coupling may be for joining 2 or more sets, instead of using tension locks
I like it and nice colors
I just wish there was NEM adapters for all couplers on the whole train, but I guess they didn't do that so that the one DCC chip in the power unit could control the lighting in the whole train.
I would recommend outing shims, small round shims, between the bogey and the chassis. Around the mounting screw. Just thick enough to allow clearance between your pocket and end detail. Trains need couplers mate.
@NZMOPAR
10 жыл бұрын
lol I was going to say the same thing shims would or sould fix the clearance probs. and the weather in new Zealand is the same m8 4 seasons in one day
I find it interesting how round the world you can have EMUS that are 4-10 cars and only need 1 pantograph, but here in aus a standard 4 car need a minimum of 2
I love the n gage vids
Great Video! The Class 450 is third rail with no pantergrah and operated by South West Trains not sure if it is used by any other operators.
@nutfield0013

+T Park The 450s are only used by South West Trains quoting to this "not sure if it is used by any other operators"
I got mine off ebay [ £ 145 ] also my lights inside the class 350 EMU are very bright same cab light and destination board 350/2 half yellow ended and very smooth
Nice start animation
The London midland units don't go to Manchester but the first transpennine express one do
Great vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep it up :)
Im saving up for it but I hope that it doesn't happen on what happened to you. I love your layout and your train reviews are better than any other train reviews AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
another great review i would love one of these but they dont run near where my layout will be set
I had a class 350 desiro but the 2nd type and I had the same problem but then when we fixed it the interia lighing was faulting and took it to bourton models and there was no luck so I swapt it for a class 43 grand central can you possible do a review on it please
...I think I've been on this exact 350/1. Can't be sure since I use 350s daily. And yes, South West Trains runs the 450 which is the Third Rail version. And from the looks of things they've hidden the motor in the disabled toilet.
@atent5124
5 жыл бұрын
PinkThornVlogs Bachman should do that with all their train (with toilets
They would need to make a new gauge to hold the pistons & microchip wich opens the doors & change the destination. They could even make it connect & when thy do open the gangway or move the wipers.
A beatifull train
I live right near the WCML so I see a lot of these.
You should review the Hornby Class 60/Tug its a cracking modal!
Any chance you could have a look at the old Lima class 60
citizenerase1992, why ask questions with the reply settings turned off? IC82's skirting board has been recognized and IC82 stuck it there.
I’m not a massive fan of the Class 350, but good video, the set as well looks like it’s in good condition.
Does anyone know how the Golden age models Hornby Conversion coupling work??? Because I have a Dynamometer car due soon and I asked for them.
The SWT mainline is about a mile or so behind my home (posted by her son )
the couplings are called `draw bars`
When u show us up stairs layout? Ps good review
IC82 could you do a video of the class 68 68007 scotrail train pack from dapol
I only got one because of you. And because I like the class 350 thats a norther reason
I got a class 350 for christmas!
Siemens also do Southwest trains as well.
London midland train is my favourite in the whole UK 🇬🇧 and the world 🗺
all 350's have gangways on the front 360's which are operated by abellio greater anglia and heathrow connect have normal cabs
when can you do a review of the class 172 in london midland livery
I think the extra coupling is in case you want to add another four car unit to make an eight car setup.
@atent5124
5 жыл бұрын
LocoMotion no as then you would use the nem coupling
There is something quite odd about 350125 because one end on the door is fully yellow then the other end its half yellow for some odd reason!
