The Opels come with a variety of options and configurations that are missed in the Regal TourX. Cooled seats, auto start/stop disable, rear heated seats, and adaptive suspension.

Car is really good, and all these talks about slow 8speed gearbox are so childish. Insignia is a D class car, future owners are most likely businessmen for whom 7.3 sec 0-100 (Grand Sport) is quite enough. Big and comfortable, good looking, with a lot of modern technologies, affordable... I am sure 2l Turbo engine will be very popular in the business car segment.

A segment is small cars like Twingo or Picanto. B segment is Fiesta, Clio, Mazda 2 etc. C is the "Golf class". D is midsize/larger cars like Passat, Insignia, Mazda6 etc. E are E-class, 5-series, Lexus GS etc. Then you have F segment, with cars like the A8 and S-class.

They are identical - I am not sure what you are writing. Only difference I am aware of is diesel options are available in Europe while in the USA only the 2.0L turbo petrol will be available. Other changes are not significant (more sound proofing in US version, thicker carpeting).

+1. .. When a 2018 Buick Tourx wagon is a Peugeot ... Good to hear Opel.de is working out from the PAS purchase. .. Or better said, GM's dive-bomber crash in '08/'09. .. My guess this wagon is manufactured in Rüsselsheim - Frankfurt ??

Beautiful car. Interesting theory about the 'fake' exhaust tips, seems logical. However, I don't quite see the purpose of colluding with insurance companies on such a minor occurrence. Unless, they happen far too frequently and I'm far too oblivious of the fact. Sure rear-enders happen often enough, but nothing that has massive consequences to either vehicles aside from cosmetics. Most exhausts that don't have fake covers are also suspended within the exhaust bumper cutouts. My solution would be, fitting a slip-on funnel to the exhaust that connects with an exhaust system & bumper, that shifts along the exhaust piping in the case of a rear-end collision. Keeps the aesthetics, and doesn't interfere with exhaust unit itself. Also, I hope PSA don't ruin Opel and its design philosophies in its pursuit of saving money and turning major profits at the expense of the consumer.

I wish we could get the GSI version or at least one with the looks here in US. I'm thinking of getting a Regal GS bumper and Insignia GSI rear bumper and side panels. I noticed the Regal has an amber side marker light which these do not have. So it would have to be a Regal GS front bumper.

Odd, I’ve got a version badged Calais V with all the tech options. The suspension is lifted about an inch and softened slightly compared to your opel version, but also powered by a 310hp 3.6 V6 engine (LGX, American I think ?) and 4wd. Quite a wagon for sure, but feels huge in comparison to my B8 Passat variants. Only getting rid of the bi-tdi Passat as I’m over the amount of sensor failures (Suspension, brakes, radar) the moment it was out of warranty. Let’s hope the ‘B’ proves to be better

The fake exhaust is likely to reduce time doing fail safe engineering. If an engine has a malfunction such as a leaky injector or doesn't go into closed loop it can get the cat converters to glow red hot! Sit in traffic like that for an hour or two and the heat can travel throughout the system. You have to design safety into the system to keep the bumper from catching fire in a situation like this. Same goes with the exhaust hangers. They need to last 20 years without sagging into the bumper. Of course the representative would not talk about negative stuff like that.

Autogefühl I prefer real but it doesn't really bother me. I might even buy the GSI rear bumper and install it on the Buick they sell in the states. That would make it an easier swap. Maybe that was a reason too, change the bumper for different models without changing as much plumbing.

Great work Aditya! I like the style, equipment and competence of this car, for the money you pay. Too big a car for me though. HUD - good. At 39:09 we didn't see the demo of the 360 top-down-view camera! Love the idea of the supple ride with the Flexride set to Tour. Is AEB standard on all models? Shame you were unable to test the ACC to see if they had improved it. You found something to complain about - the auto wasn't sporty enough! Keep up the good work, Team. Many thanks.

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at kzread.info/dash/bejne/hWWVsLyen8Tanag.html). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y6SGsM2QadHYoto.html And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKqMx7KKmcKzcc4.html New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p21ou7qDZ5W7hKQ.html More and more natural materials are rising: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oIaH1bp-ntqudNI.html Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oISTpdiFnMSsnKw.html For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pp-epaOmoZTFaKg.html Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

Clearly AJ is the guy you don't want to hand your smartphone to. He would be taking it apart in 5 mins just to examine all the inner workings.. ;) AJ in the HAUS? Fake exhausts suck. end of story. Any design should be driven by purpose not as a design exercise when it comes to functional parts. Fake sound sucks even more.
