Vauxhall clearly have lost their marbles. The new Insignia is a bit dull and then the facelifted Astra is just as gutless...1.0, 1.2 and 1.4 max power 150 ps. What the hell are they doing? Bring back VXR!

They are certainly all dull to a degree, however the VXR did offer some life and even the GSI / SRI are lukewarm but still offer a bit more excitement compared to the ultra dull under powered engines they are giving us now. Look at the Golf, wonderful piece of engineering, but seriously overpriced for what you get. I own an Insignia A (2.0 turbo) which goes like stink, but it is still a bit dull to drive with lifeless steering.

Guest out needs to know how to get a proper beard first or just get rid of it all before criticising cars... clueless

I saw the insignia at the Nurburgring in august 2017. Partially spy shot, it was pretty cool

It’s great that it lets you rotate a bit. I think it suits the car. Sad they are not bringing an full out OPC variant with a V6 though.

You need the Australia Holden version with a 3.6l 300 HP petrol engine and the much better 9 speed auto

Doubt it would comply with any European emission regs and in the uk would cost thousands in tax a year. Basically no one would buy a gas guzzling lump like that in a bottom of the ladder brand.

That’s why in Australia we put a Turbo 3.6L V6 in most models but the base and we have a VXR version as well.

Trying to replace old top gear.

So I live in the Americaland now. I just picked up the Buick TourX (the version here). I grabbed the 250hp fancy edition, it's pretty good, the shifting is odd, and even with the extra omph it has no sense of of rush. More sedate less haste. Great for highways. It has a stupid auto start/stop which could not be turned off... So I sent off for a tune to kill that auto stop... Then I saw the "sport mode". Well; now I have a whole new beast, probably hits around 300hp ish, still feels safe and secure, and they allow you both original mode and sport via and simple button press. If the car came with this tune, they probably would of sold heaps more, I bet someone I the UK does a Vauxhall tune, same engine? The ecotec 2.0 right? (Buick put some annoying plastic "rugged" cladding on the side too, looks shit)

As a Vauxhall fan, GSI really should be petrol only :(

Yeah, because you buy a Insignia to drift with it... where? On the M25 at 12 mph speeds? The M1 in the 50 mph average zone? On the M6 near in rush hour traffic? 😂

No, it is NOT available in Europe since around April 2018. The 2.0T petrol was cancelled due to incapability to meet new EURO6 emission standards valid from Sept. 1st 2018.

Jason Boyle Not sure why the decided to sell without the petrol engine, I was putting together a video of one and put the petrol info in and was told I needed to take it out 🙈

No perspective buyer is going to buy it based upon its ability to Drift. They will judge it by Price, Kit on offer, and how well it performs in real road situations, like getting up to speed quick. Overtaking power , practicality. If they renamed it GSD would that help? Admittedly for a 210bhp diesel it’s Numbers do seem a little lacklustre but it’s a big old tank. Plastics I had one on loan I agree are not the best. But the 1.5t vxline I Had I Loan was surprising a Nice car to drive . But again abit slow. As for transmissions I doubt anybody is going to get close to the Germans likes of Merc cdi or bmw Td auto Tranny button line is going to come down to price and running costs s

Mark C This Insignia is much cheaper than German trinity (Merc, BMW, Audi). Interior quality is on higher level compered to Ford. For example, Mercedes interior has also hard plastic. At least Insignia has real leather on the seats.

QuitMC The only thing I didn’t like with the interior was a shinny black plastic piece in the centre console in front of the gear shift. Where the e handbrake is. I don’t think ford is all that bad tbh. The Mondeo is far nicer than my focus. That said the mk3 FL 2015+ is better than 2012-2015. PFL. Vauxhall have improved the quality of their cars. The new Insignia is a far cry from the X reg 2.6sri I once had. My sister has a Vauxhall Adam I was actually impressed with its drive. Don’t line the Stars/? Sparkle lights on roof lining. Brow in law has a newish corsa vxr, he don’t drive it hard but it sounds sweet and looks up for it😁🏎💨

The car looks fine. The engine is what lets it down. Here in Australia if this was a v8 it might have sold well. But it completely failed here. Very sad.

There is aways someone hating on Vauxhall! They r good cars stop fucking moaning about it!!!

Besides Vicki, the others are all knobs. Imagine getting style advice from Wolverine inverted... Some of the comments are like these lot have never stepped into a vehicle before! The reviews need to be from the perspective of the potential buyer in that segment, and comparible to vehicles in the class and price range, so that the information is actually useful.

Vauxhall should make it more powerful to get as good or better than Skoda Octavia VRS, but it isn't too bad at all.

its a Vauxhall insignia not a Mercedes Sclass. What did you expect .. a Champaign fridge in the back.

Looks well for an estate

It _needs_ to be auto. It's too big to be a sports car. An those hard seats will have you in agony on your London to Glasgow run.

I’ve done Cardiff to Penzance in my gsi diesel hatchback non stop,got out as fresh as I got in,very comfortable

i have a Insignia B Diesel with 210HP and 4x4 - so in principle same as GSI but w/o the seats , the brakes and the front and rear, which is different with the GSI, it is good fun driving but this engine does not belong into a GSI, it is discontinued anyhow, now you can get a GSI only with a 230HP petrol engine, however, evrything else but sporty, too.....

It is a BUICK in the USA 🇺🇸

Already wrote down their pre fixed and typical summing up and attitude before they arrived to test it.. The same happens with T Gear regarding anything Vauxhall...

THis is a GSi model and deserves to be thrashed if it is going to be worthy of the badge!

This is a fantastic car, you have no idea of ​​anything .... And this Jimmi is in general not adequate for any kind of opinion about anything, and especially about such a beauty like Insignia

Nobody who buys this car is going to take it round a track its a family car and mum or dad who is driving it wants a bit of pace and is decent round corners.

It looks great .. and thats about it really ..

£35,000 new, £5000 at 3 years old. They are a great used buy at under £5k but honestly nobody apart from a company repping is going to pay the list price new.

Has that Jimmy fell seen himself in the mirror lately ? Glass houses. The new Insignia is a very decent car with loads of legroom compared to the old model, great for a family and hauling gear.

If I was a car reviewer I would stop recommending diesel

480 Newtonmeters (354 lb ft) on the front axle would be definitely a bad idea. Plus, an adaptive 4x4 system greatly improves stability as well as enhances cornering.

If you buy a Vauxhall you might as well put a sign up saying “ in life Iv given up “

The petrol is a 2 litre,the vxr is a 2.8 litre,that’s why it has 320bhp

WTF was this? If it was Ford or any other brand you like, it will score 8,5 and above... Your “guest” talking about how it looks is just absurd. Just look at him! It doesn’t drive like a sports car because it is a fucking DIESEL ESTATE! And show me one sportier Mondeo. The one with 1.0 Ecoboost? 😳

A BMW 320d/520d is quicker than this Insignia and on that basis I think it totally defeats the purpose of it being a ‘GSi’ and up until recently you could get the BMW 320d/520d as a manual if you wanted it.

Right Vauxhall, time to shut the geezers up....get the VXR back into production! Keep the tree huggers happy...release with electric motor to push up the bhp!

The British are so lucky..... in the rest of europe you can only get the diesel version (Opel does not make the petrol one, only vauxhall does)

Here in Australia we have it with the 190kw petrol turbo i4 or 235kw/315hp petrol V6 but no one wants them because they replaced a classic Australian built RWD, and everyone now wants SUVs/4WDs.

The fact they put a gsi badge on a diesel is a fucking disgrace.

This is what happens when the French haven't got a clue about the gsi image

Car basically intended for middle managers to potter from meeting to meeting in turns out not to be good on a racing circuit. Film at eleven. Next Month. The deplorable lack of cupholders and terrible boot In a McLaren F1 car. I'd agree if they said it's 10k overpriced, a bit dull, likely to depreciate fast and that the badge won't impress anyone

"listen to this" Proceeds to touch door trim that is normally hidden by the door being closed. Are the touch points soft? If yes then please moan about stuff that's important. Maybe it would be good for PSA to delete the Vauxhall name because of this shitty attitude towards it... This "review" was pure garbage, only because this is Vauxhall; "gearbox is lazy" (made by Aisin), "torque vectoring rubbish" (GKN/Twinster, used by Focus RS), "hard seats" (AGR certificate)... very helpful and objective.

Not a real gsi just a badge. Iv had the vectra b 2.6 v6 gsi and that was a nice car, a proper gsi. Not just a badge.

Totally agree I own the 2.6 V6 so much more road presence still timeless design and a true GSi then the VXR took over the GSi name
