Thats not that hard. There is an Astra G Caravan in my family that looks similar to this one. Only thing you can see the age is the drivers seat side, where the seat is rubbed through (pretty common for the sports seats). So the Astra in this video is in even better condition, but the interior overall is pretty durable.

Yeah definitely, my favourite, the 1.6 and 1.7 in dark/navy blue

I own an Astra G 1.4 16V Club. Fuel consumption is on the high side if you're driving in town, but on the highway it's great, you'll have almost the same consumption whether you drive at 70 or 120. First and second gears are slightly long and the power band only starts at 3500rpm, so it isn't a very agile car to maneuver in-town, because it takes its time to initiate movement, neither it is a very funny car to drive, it's a very smooth engine, and not aggressive. But as soon as you enter the highway, rev it above 3000~3500rpm and you're good to go, you'll get the full potential of the engine and it will even take on a few bigger ones. It's an extremely reliable engine. I bought my Astra almost 8 years ago, and I've replaced several mechanical parts on it due to wear, but it has never let me down, and not one single part was for the engine. The only day it didn't start was when the starting engine broke, but the car was almost 20 years old, so I would consider that wear as well. Threat it well, use genuine GM spark plugs, be careful with the quality of the cooling fluid you put in it, as they tend to damage the head gaskets, and expect to replace an ignition coil sometime (you can get a cheap 3rd party and it will do the trick). Other than that, you'll have a car that can last for 400k, 500k kilometers, or more.

I drive my Astra G from 2006 with about 240k. It is rather simple car but robust construction especially the wheel suspension system. Had 2nd place in the European Car of the Year 1999. :)

The late ones with the twinport engines is even better.. One thing you will notice right away is the low noise-level compared to almost any other in its class from that time.. ;)

What is the difference between a standard 1.6 and a 1.6 twinport

@@MiroKarhunen The 1.6 Z16SE has an 8 valves 84 hp (that is the one I have). The twinport is a 16 valve 100 hp. Its called Z16XE or Z16XEP. Fun fact is that the Twinport has 10 Nm of torque more than the 8v, but its delivered at 600 rpm later. 3200 for twinport vs 2600 for 8v. That said, the twinport is 2 seconds faster in a 0-100. The fuel consumption is not that different, but the 16v takes around 0.5 liters / 100 km more. As I said, having the 8v one, I really like it and I am really happy with it, because its silent, but can also sound nice if you rev it up, fuel economy is ok, and it is (from what I heard) more reliable than the twinport. Performance wise, I am happy with it, but sometimes I would've liked the spike in power from the 16v. However because I don't need to rev it up that much to get the full torque, I get better fuel economy and I can also have some fun with it :D

@@razvanalex07 You forgot about oil consumption in 16V. I guide is wrote "this engine can use to 1l oil per 1000km and its ok. Yes 1 000 km... I have one in good condition and it drinks abiut 0,2l per 600-700km. Ecotec power 😎👌

The last good Astra, so many say and i completely agree. Despite the age still a good car, i have mine (year 1999, the longer version), and i'm not giving it away anytime soon. It drives great, it looks nice and it's reliable. What more could you want? Love that car!

Nice car! Had a 1.6 8v myself. Fine for city driving but I really recommend a 16v for national roads and highway driving.

Mine 1.4 burns some oil but it never gave me a problem 0.5liter/1000km

Aren't you driving a little underrevved? I see you are shifting gears ar around 2000 rpm, shouldn't be a little higher? I have a 1.6 8 valves from 2003, very happy with it :D

@@robbe65656 Oh, I see. However (I dont how it works in this country), we dont use left blinker before going to roundabout and we use right one before we do our turn to leave it. Why using left blinker anyway? Drivers know you are about to enter roundabout (it is the only way!), but you need to let them know when you make your turn to leave it... by using right blinker, so situation like this does not happen. Otherwise it is your fault if you two had crashed. In this situation.. just wtf both of them (in perspective from my state law).

@@dominiklehocky1486 We also use the indicators only when leaving the roundabout here in Finland, but I think you are supposed to have the left indicator on for the whole time in the roundabout, and the use the right one when leaving in that country... in my opinion that's kinda pointless

Interior is a bit cheap looking compared with the focus (Ford used the best materials compared to the astra G and golf iv) but its a really comfy car to drive! Avoid the 1.2 though. 1.6 8v is enough for city driving and the 16v for regular highway use.

Thas kinda the sitting position. I have it the same, especially if you don't have height adjustable steering wheel. I have 180 cm in height, if I sit a little higher and closer to the steering wheel I don't have the space to move my legs. Also feels like driving a tractor. Another reason, and I tested that also, is that if he sits closer to the steering wheel, the image on camera would not be as good because of the higher angle,

W niektórych miastach w Polsce też się używa kierunkowskazu w lewo, kiedy mamy zamiar skręcić w lewo albo zawrócić na rondzie, używane jako forma grzecznościowa. Np. w Krakowie na egzaminie jak nie użyjesz kierunkowskazu w lewo egzaminator może się doczepić do tego (co nie znaczy, że nie zdasz). Przynajmniej tak na kursie mi mówiono

Na rondzie czy się skręca w lewo czy zawraca kierunkowskaz lewy powinien być i nie jes tto forma grzeczności po za tym kierowca z początku popełnił błąd ograniczając prędkość na progu jedynie do 40 km/h dzieki czemu ładnie podskoczyło mu autem. Zupełnie nie kumam tego naginania taka pchełką w terenie zabudowanym jak to ma tak mało koni.

Astra G is one of my all time most hated car, can't stand it. I hate especially this fake-leather-Shiftleather cause it's always broken looks horrible whatever.. Anyway the owner took really good care of it.
