Opal CANNONBALL!

In this video, a naturally rounded specimen of Andamooka, South Australian matrix opal was made smooth by grinding, tumbling (in a lapidary rock tumbler), hand grinding and polishing. The polished opal was then treated by placing it in a solution of sugar and heated to 175 degrees F (80 degrees C) for about 24 hours. The sugar-treated stone was then placed in hot, concentrated sulfuric acid for 6 hours. The treated stones turn black, allowing the previously hidden colors to be seen better.
Next, portions of the stone were sliced with a lapidary trim saw and made into cabochons. The polished cabochons were then treated with sugar and sulfuric acid. Some of the stones will be used in jewelry by making gold settings for them.

If there were three women eating ice cream cones in a shop, one was licking her cone, the second was biting her cone and the third was sucking her cone, which one is married?" To tucker out an opal you have to look it in the eye and tell it that you are the boss you have to care for in and polish it until it is a gem that shines the way you knew it could and would. He put oil up its nostrils and that was the end of Torty Tortoise. Obviously when his sister saw Torty he wasn’t moving at all, as slow as he went, she said I thought you were going to oil him he looks dull, he said, I did and he showed her where he oiled him, Well the rest I leave to your imagination. We laugh about it sometimes, it wasn’t funny for Torty or young hubby. I will add young hubby is now old husband just as daft to this day.

I’d be the luckiest son of a “Tucker” if I have the chance to make a piece of jewellery out of a stone like that, in my first year of making jewellery, especially at my age.!.!.!.!. I know, I have to be the son of a “Tucker”, just to be alive and posting comments, but I thought that it sounded good, ok??? Ps, I have just started to learn how to make jewellery this year, because I have to self-isolate, thanks to Wuhan, but I am loving the work with silver.!.!.!.!.

There was once an old farmer whose only virtue was 3 beautiful daughters. One night, they were all going out on dates with their respective beaus. There came a knock at the door, and he answered. “Hi!” said the young man standing there. “My name’s Joe. I’m here to pick up Flo. we’re going to the show. Is she ready to go?” “Yes, I’ll go and get her” said the farmer. About 10 minutes later there’s another knock. “Hi, my name’s Eddy. I’m here to pick up Betty. We’re going to eat spaghetti. Is she ready?” So the farmer goes and fetches her. Another 10 minutes go by, and there’s a 3rd knock. “Hi, my name’s Tucker…” And before he can say another word, the farmer grabs him by the neck, drags him out the back, and shoots him.

Your videos are keeping my own interest in polishing stones alive, thank you - keep up the great work. Once Covid pandemic is over here I cannot wait to eat my 'Tucker' in a 'restaurant' (not eatery!) whilst wearing a lovely opal like the girgeous giveaway piece..... I would even love the 'Flatman' piece as the colours are absolutely amazing. Appreciation from Ireland! T😀

Omg when you dropped it I was worried it would break. 😳. It's amazing what treating certain types of opal can do for the color.
