I had a sunny side up (in germany those babies are told "stargazers") at 39+6, no edidural, no painkillers (during the labour I ripped inside and got cutted), because noone belived me, when I said, that my girl is about to arrive. In the active labour I was send at home, they said, that the contrations are not strong enough (because they were in the back), there was no ultrasound and at midnight (three hours after I was send home) I had to call the ambulance. After I tried nearly two hours to push the baby out, it get stressed, the heartrate dropped, i got a cut and the doctor do the Kristeller. It was weird, the was a "plopp"-sound and then they lay a violett and warm girl on my chest. Later the midwife told me that my baby was a OP, in the whole pregnancy no one told me, that my baby is a stargazer, her head was bruised in the back und looked very asymetrical (the next day the head was round again). Two days before labour I was at my gyn and she was like "everything is okay, I don't belife, that you will give birth soon, see you next week"

Worst labor I ever had. I never screamed with the prior 3 births or had pain meds but that one, the pain was so intense I actually rolled my eyes and blacked out. they made multiple tries to turn her. I pushed for 5 hours, forceps didn't work, suction either. They finally did a saddle bag epidural and reached in and pulled her out by under the shoulders.

I was in labor for 3 days...I was dilating very slowly each day. (Day one was only 1cm, day two was 6cm) The last day when I finally reached 10cm I pushed for 7hrs..this is my first baby and was an OP baby

First was sunny side up, very long pre labor with lots of back labor. Difficult. Second baby non OP, walk in the park compared to OP (obvi still intense but truly much easier)

I delivered my baby last week naturally who was in an OP position. The labor was really rough, I had no pain meds, but I'm glad to say baby is very healthy and so am I.

@@birthtoolbox Thank you! For me I birthed at a local birth center. Initially I was in a tub of water which helped the contractions but I found that I got to a point where I wasn't progressing in the birth anymore. My midwife advised me to get on all fours ( I was on my forearms and knees). Once in this position things moved much quicker! It was the most intense experience I've ever had but clearly it is possible for many to still deliver this way naturally and without pain meds.

I pushed for 4 hours with an epidural you’re incredibly impressive

Sunny side up delivery story: Started the delivery process with epidural. Doctor came in to check and stated my girl was face up so pushing maybe harder. Slowly but surely my epidural wore off and I felt it ALL. But bc it wore off I was able to be on my hands and knees which helped progress her down further. I pushed for 3 HOURS and almost needed a c section. I found the strength to get her out but it was the worst pain I've ever felt. I'd still do it all again to have my amazing daughter.

@@birthtoolbox I'll tell what made it happen. The feeling of support in that room between my amazing doctor and nurse, my best friend and my husband cheering me on and telling I can DO this. It helps to have the right people by your side and have an amazing obgyn you love and trust guiding you through the process.

I had the same exact delivery experience! 3 hours of pushing my op baby and I was ready to give up! I felt everything at the end too since the epidural wore off. But my doctor pushed me through it and now I have my baby boy!

My baby boy was born last week and he was sunny side up. I had 3 days of on and off labor and I felt like someone was using a hammer to break the bones of my back and hips. Even with epidural I felt everything. I pushed my boy for 45 mins without any result. The doctor performed an episiotomy and inserted their hand inside to change my baby's head position. Only after that I could push him out. Although he was in distress, my baby is fine now. If anyone out there had this experience or worse, please know that you're not alone. We're stronger than most people and we should be proud of ourselves. 😊

My daughter was born sunny side up. I had an epidural but had a lot of pain in my back that the epidural didn’t help. She had a weird shaped head and a lot of bruising from being stuck, but after she got unstuck everything went perfectly! No tears, and a happy healthy baby girl 💞

My first labor was long. She was op but About 5 hours before she came out the owner of the birth center stepped in and used rebozo to disengage baby from the pelvis and gently pulled to one side and made baby get into a better position.

I was a sunny side up baby, my mum told me all her pain was in the back and the worst part of getting to the hospital and then delivering, was that she felt she couldn't sit but couldn't stand either because of the back pain! She said lying down to give birth was more painful than the actual birth and she didn't get any pain meds because I arrived within 20 minutes of her getting to hospital. Now I have an understanding of why that was! New found respect for my mamma!

Wish I would have known this information with my first! Back labor is no joke..

My son was sunny side up ( that’s the term we used), I was in the most uncomfortable back labor for 25 hours, I felt my back pain through my epidural which I had 3 rounds of.. After 3 hours of pushing and having no energy left we went for the csection and it was the biggest relief... I still question myself and wonder if I had tried a little harder would I have been able to push him out, but after watching this video with the demonstration I am happy with my decision!

I have delivered an OP baby almost 10 years ago and i have experienced intense back pain during contractions. Luckily for me it was 2 hours and i was fully dillated. As for pushing the nerves in thighs "were tested" and i couldnt control my legs and my husband had to hold my legs open for me. I pushed for 10 minutes and i am now mama to a 9y gymnast super girl! ❤🎉

I just delivered an OP baby last week, was in the pushing stage for 5-6 hours and changing positions regularly but was able to push him out with no medication on my back holding onto my feet. It was pretty rough I’d say but we are both doing really well and no tearing for me.

Delivered my second in OP and it was definitely harder to push than my other child who was in OA position however I did have back labor with both! Thankfully I avoided any intervention with my OP delivery and only pushed for 10mins with no tearing.

37 weeks tomorrow and found out yesterday my baby is OP. It kind of explains why I have been having so much pain in my back. Reading these comments really makes me wanna do the exercises that might help turn this little girl. Hopefully she does. Thank you for all the information !!!

@@parkmamafive That's what I have been doing before labor and on 2/10 my water broke and she was not OP anymore. Pushed for less than 5 minutes as a FTM and in labor for 3.5 hours. Went from 4cm to 10 cm in like 2 hours. I am still amazed at what happened and so happy to be with my little girl now. Thank you so much for the advice :)

It was intense. More intense than my non OP delivery. But doable. You will do it! Your body made that baby and your body knows how to birth your baby too! You got this

My 2nd baby was OP, & my back labor was so horrible I can’t put into words. I was induced & the pit drip made the labor much worse. My labor was 17 hours & I was only given a shot in my hip every so often as I could have it, which offered nothing for pain relief. At 22 years old, I didn’t understand what was happening & why I was hurting so badly plus I was having double vision. I was just terrified I was dying & so was my baby. I suffered such trauma from the pain the thoughts of it caused me to cry many days after the birth. I delivered a beautiful baby boy, but he had to be pulled with forceps. It was such a traumatic experience I couldn’t enjoy my baby & begged my husband to have a vasectomy when my son was only 2 weeks old. If I could have been given a epidural & had a nurse with me to explain what was happening I wouldn’t have made the drastic decision to never have more children. My husband & I will always regret the vasectomy. My Dr was a very uncaring ass & let me suffer unnecessarily. He was born in 1980.

I delivered an OP 10lb 31/2 oz baby in 1970 before ultrasound. I was in labor for a long time and in hard labor for 48 hours. I had an out of body experience during labor, and I lost a lot of blood. I was placed in a bed with the sides up.I kept wanting to sit up, and the nurse kept pushing me flat on my back. The doctor had to reach inside of me to turn the baby which I saw on the mirror that they forgot to cover. The doctor said they almost had to "crack me" , which they should have done. No one knew how large she was. I have 5 children and 3 were in the OP position. All of my babies were huge and I never had diabetes. My 10 lb 3 1/2 oz daughter also gave birth to a 10 lb 3 oz daughter, via cesarian !

Wow, what an experience!

I am very confused. I was told I have an OP baby but it actually was back on the left, limbs to the right type of 2 occipital pose - my birth record says it too. Or partial OP. I was told these babies (sunny side up) very rarely come out naturally. Is that true? Mine was changing its location and after several attempts to change my pose the baby had turned sideways. I had dilated 7 cm, the baby wasn’t deep in the pelvis either. Then the c section was inevitable. Not sure if i needed the change of poses and the c-section if the baby stayed facing right or up?

OP babies can be more difficult to push out. It's hard to look back and try to figure out what happened without knowing more information. I wish I could be more helpful!

*** IN NO WAY DO I WANT TO DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM USING BIRTHING CENTERS***. My oldest was born OP. I didn’t have him in the hospital I had him at a birthing center that offered no drugs whatsoever. He is now 22 almost 23. But not only was he OP his shoulder were very broad so after hours of pushing I finally got his head out but his shoulders were stuck. I lost so much blood. (Keep that in mind because I’ll come back to it) I was in extreme pain. It was what I thought was the worst pain of my life. I couldn’t push him any further because he was stuck. My midwife told me she said “ right now your baby is ok, but I have to get him out ASAP so I’m going to have to put my hands inside and turn him or we will lose him” I said do whatever to save my baby. So she did. Now this right here is where the real worst pain of my life came in for real. She should have called 911 or called the hospital across the street if I couldn’t be transported and ask for help but she didn’t. She put her hands one on top of my son one under him as far as she could inside me to turn him. The blood was everywhere. They were carrying baskets of bloody sheets and towels out and between that and my family hearing me in excruciating pain my family was so scared. They were demanding to come in to see that I was ok and obviously they wouldn’t let any of them in. My room had a door to go outside and my family went around and was coming in the door which only complicated things more. I was in so much pain and focused on getting my baby out safely that I didn’t even realize what was going on. I had my mom, my M-I-L and my husband in the room then all of a sudden I had 2 sisters-in-laws, a brother and my bio father. They made the men leave but let my sister-in-laws stay. One sister in law kept saying you know you can make them call 911 and you can go to the hospital and get drugs over and over. The midwife told her if you say that again you are leaving the premises, not just the room, the premises. I had way more family there than I wanted because my cousin was in the room beside me delivering my baby cousin. Anyways she got him twisted enough to get him out and then kept giving me shots to stop the bleeding but it wasn’t working. I pushed so hard I burst all the blood vessels in my eyeballs and around my eyes so I had 2 black eyes as well. Well after he was born his face was smashed down because I only weighed 115 when I was full term. I was very small. The first thing I heard was my MIL saying this is not “my husbands name” baby. This is a black baby. Look at his nose and he has a very large penis to be a white baby. I was devastated. I was shattered. My first delivery was hell. They were trying to stitch me up and I wanted my baby but my mother in law was too busy walking him around telling everyone what I just told you and pointing it out to everyone in the room. My husband is the only man I have ever been with so I knew 1,000 % it was his baby but damn it hurt so bad to hear her telling everyone this over and over. The midwife tried to explain but she was still too busy trying to stop my bleeding and stitch me up. She tried to numb the area but because there was so much trauma it wouldn’t numb so I felt it all. My stitches were all the way up into my pubic hair area and past my anus. Later I had to have reconstructive surgery down there. But also she gave me way too many shots to stop my bleeding and only made my blood so thick that my heart couldn’t pump it. Come to find out where I pushed so hard for so so many hours it had strained my heart and caused postpartum cardiomyopathy but they didn’t catch it. (My amazing son was born at 5:52pm and weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces.)I called them several times a day for 10 days telling that something was wrong and that I had the worst migraine ever and that I couldn’t even care of my baby. They told me to take Tylenol. The whole reason I went to the birthing center was because you get to go home with your baby 12 hours after delivery. The Dad gets to deliver the baby (obviously when things go smoothly) My husband did get to grab him and finish delivering him after they got him unstuck. Plus their birthing suite was like a master bedroom with a crib and king size bed and even cots if you had other children so your family (husband & kids) can also stay. We even went in when he was only 3 days old because he had to be circumcised (which I had no idea this did not need to be done) they only told me if I didn’t do it he would have life long infections on his privates. I was so young and naïve. Then they didn’t even do it properly and he is basically uncircumcised and if he chooses will have to have it redone. When the Pediatrician told me that even though he could see that they had attempted to circumcise him but they didn’t do it properly and they didn’t takeoff and I’ll scan or if I did I got a lot of stuff and then he Musta had a lot of it but he was the one that informed me that that was not a necessary thing to do that it was something I didn’t even have to be done. I was so upset I had put my son through that unnecessarily. When we went for our 10 day check up they realized I was in danger of dying at any minute. They took my blood pressure and it was 212/189. They said they had never seen a blood pressure that high ever. They had multiple people checked my blood pressure and come up with the same numbers. I was only a child myself getting pregnant at 17 and delivering at 18 I had no idea what my blood pressure was supposed to be so I asked them Is that good or bad? (Which I should have known when 4 different midwives had to check it)and their response was I don’t know how you are alive that most people would’ve had a stroke before the blood pressure got this high. I don’t know how you haven’t had a stroke and your life is in danger they called the hospital the hospital told him to call 911 and as soon as paramedics got there the first thing they done was give me a dose of morphine and told me that They had to take me to hospital but I cannot have a baby with me that they will take care of my baby until my family got there to pick him up and I refuse to go in the ambulance until my mom or husband got there to get my son. The reason for the ambulance was because they had to take me to a level one trauma hospital because they expected me to have a stroke at any minute and the one across the street wasn’t a level one trauma hospital. I was not leaving him in the care of somebody I didn’t even know and somebody that would not listen to me when I kept telling them something was wrong that I couldn’t even move my head my head it hurt so bad and It was because my blood pressure was so high and I was in the hospital for over a month with postpartum cardiomyopathy I didn’t think I was going to make it. They wouldn’t let me see my son because he wasn’t allowed in the intensive care unit and then they sent a Psychiatrist in because they felt like I was depressed and I said of course I’m freaking depressed I’m not even allowed to see my child so they took a Polaroid picture of him from my mom and taped it to all the machines I was hooked up to. That was supposed to help but obviously that didn’t help at all and even after I was released from the hospital on 32 different medications I still could not take care of my child without help. It was the worst experience of my life and has caused PTSD, fear of doctors, distrust in all doctors and I will forever have many many medical problems for the rest of my life and my life will probably be cut short because of the medical problems because my heart will never be as strong as it should be. I was told at the hospital by multiple doctors that it should’ve been a C-section delivery and that the birthing center should’ve called 911 or taken me to the hospital because the birthing center was literally across the street from the hospital you could walk out the birthing center doors cross the street and walk into the hospital. But they didn’t do that they basically put my child and my life in danger. Looking back I definitely should’ve sued because obviously it caused lifelong medical problems and thousands and thousands and thousands if notes millions of dollars in medical bills I am in the hospital typically 4 to 6 times a year and at times, months at a time in the hospital so it was definitely the absolute worst experience of my life and even 20 years later I still have nightmares. That is the end of my birthing story and I am so Sorry for any grammar mistakes but I used speech to text because that’s a lot to type. If you read this short book I left I just want to say thank you for reading this far. *** IN NO WAY DO I WANT TO DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM USING BIRTHING CENTERS*** 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Just in case you are wondering I went in labor at 2am on July 3rd and delivered at 5:52 on July 4th. My cousin that was in the room beside me delivered on July 5th (I don’t know what time) and delivered a 9pound 8 ounce baby boy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍

Thank you so much for this story and sharing a very deep birth trauma. And I thought my labor was bad (21h, induction without much cause, sudden, strong contractions, rude midwives, no progress, useless meds and failure to turn baby that was only partly OP, no pushing, c section). It must have been so hard. I wish you all the stamina, joy in life and happiness in the world. Out of interest, where was this birthing center?

I had two OP delivery's with my midwife, she had me get on my hands and knees and i was able to push them both out no problem. She massaged my back the most of the time and it was heaven. I do not regret going with a midwife for my two first pregnancies. I had my last one and my doc wouldn't let me move from my back position that baby came out 10 lbs and was far more excruciating than my two OP babies.

My second baby was sunny side up and head down since 13 weeks and stayed that way the entire pregnancy til labor started, then turned thankfully! All I felt in this pregnancy were slithery movements of his hands.

If you can see a chiropractor, that would be my suggestion.

ALAUJUA’S TV I did a natural home birth! No meds :)

Been there done that!! My daughter weighed 8 lb 10 oz and I delivered her sunny-side up after 24-hours labor in the hospital. I pushed for 8 hours. A nurse tried to turn her over for so many hours. Never happened! Severe severe back labor!! This was in 1982 and the biggest football game (in our state) of the year was on TV so the Dr kept leaving and coming back. They had to use forceps. I hemorrhaged 800CC. She was hardly breathing when she came out & they were with her when I was bleeding all over the floor. The Dr heard it hitting the floor and turned around and flew over to me to pack me. I've had 16 surgeries, have autoimmune diseases, fibro and chronic pain. This was the worst pain in my life! Another thing was my contractions never got regular and never went down in time. One minute it would be 10 minutes apart and the next time it would be 2 minutes apart. All the way up to delivery. I remember the Dr sitting there waiting as I was delivering her...and he was doing nothing. I said, "what are you doing"? He said, "Just waiting for the next contraction". So They would not give me the epidural until 2 hours before delivery because they said it would slow me down even more. They did an episiotomy but I still tore and had massive hemorrhoid issues after. At age 62 I still suffer from them. She was my first child and I didn't think I would ever have another but I did 3 years later to the day. He was delivered normally and was a breeze in 7 hours. I'm sure I should have had a C-section but because of the football game I was put off. At least that's how I feel about it. I was in the hospital for 5 days and she had jaundice and was in the hospital with me for 5 days. One of the best and worst days of my life!

Just gave birth yesterday with a OP baby. He is my 5th child and man..... I was in labor for 22 hours with this baby. Even pushing took long this time. But we both worked hard to get him here and he is healthy and happy

Just had my baby a week ago and he was op! It was so painful I felt the contractions mostly on my back.. I was screaming my lungs out at the delivery room it was so painful and the baby was trying to flip while I was pushing him out. Him moving while I was pushing was making it even worst. I can honestly say this delivery was the most painful one out of my first one.

My fourth and fifth baby were op. The most painful births ever! The last one was the fastest birth but the most painful. I am getting an epidural this time. Lol I am pregnant with my sixth. I have been watching your childbirth series to hopefully prepare myself more just in case it's really bad again. Hopefully it will go smoother along with my preparedness. You'd think I'd be a pro by now. Lol

my 1st born was an op position, and honestly it was not a rough labor, i did get an epidural, it wore off smh but i was pushing for close to 20 minutes, and the dr and nurses yelled out sunnyside up when she was blessed into the world, she had a bruise on her forehead for about 2 months, the pain was BAD!!! but my focus was to get her out,

@@birthtoolbox also you right about how painful is. More than 13 hrs in labor. Finally they need to apply forceps because I was completely dilated and my baby girl hadn’t descended very well. But eventually everything had a happy ended. Thank!! Now she is 26. So now I can tell her she was a sunny side up baby:)

YES! Forceps can be helpful with babies in this position.

My sister just gave birth to my nephew two days ago. He was sunny side up. She had very excruciating back pain & the epidurals didn’t help much. He was born w/ a cone head, but thankfully the head fixed itself lol

Oh wow! That back pain can be so difficult.

I had a sunny side up baby last year. Hopefully this next baby is in the traditional position. I had back labor the whole time. From start to finish(which was 3 hours) my contractions were close together and lasted about 30-45 seconds each time. I barely made it to the hospital after laboring at home for 2.5 hours. I had no problems pushing. She came out quickly. However, after I pushed her out and the adrenaline wore off, my SPD was horrible. The pain lasted for about 6 weeks after I had my baby. It felt like I had a broken pelvic bone. I always wonder if her being an OP baby had something to do with my SPD getting worse after giving birth. I could hardly stand up, lift my legs, scoot over or turn onto my side in bed, get in and out of a car, get dressed standing up, get in and out of the shower without actually having to grab my legs and lift them up. It was very very painful. Sharp, burning pains! I have SPD with this new baby and am hoping I don’t have the same post-partum experience. I plan to do another unmedicated birth so wish me luck!

My 10 lb son was born sunny side up. He was born via forceps, after 24 hours, and I was put under after he was crowning. I had severe back labor, I guess a typical case. It hurt!! What was funny about it, he did not have a cone head!! His head was 15 inches, too. He's now 37 yrs old.

Wow that is quite a journey!

My baby was OP, had an epidural. Didn’t feel a thing while pushing or the contractions. He came out smooth and within 5 minutes. He even had his cord around his neck but he was just fine. My midwife was awesome and Baby was 6lbs 3oz.

I've delivered three at home and the third was OP ...one thing I'd add to the info is that it seemed like my body was un able to have a full on good contraction, therefore I had to push her out with just my own strength...after she was finally born, I bled and bled and bled so much, the midwife had to administer potocin and a suppository to stop the bleeding. That said, i kind of wish I would have asked for the pitocin (cant spell that lol) during labor to help my body have some good deep contractions. I had never had the pitocin before so i didn't know how it caused forced contractions like that but man that would've been helpful lol Thank God for my amazing midwife, she stayed calm when my husband thought I was gonna die, haha and she acted quickly. She delivered all three of my babies and i would have it any other way

My first born son was facing the wall when he was born. I thought they said OT but I guess it could have been OP. My labor progressed REALLY slowly. I had hardly had any pains then at 7 cm my water broke, still not much pain so they socked the pitocin to me. His shoulders got stuck on my pubic bone, he started to go into distress and they (I had a nurse on either side of me) had to jump on the bed beside me and push him under the pubic bone to get him out. Afterward they told me they were going knock me out because they had a lot of stitching to do, my husband said the Dr. told him she had to stitch my colon back in place. That was in a military hospital in Frankfurt Germany in 92. Back then you only delivered in a military hospital if they had a birthing room open when you went into labor. The Dr. told me the next day that if I'd been in a hospital that "didn't know what they were doing" they could have lost both of us. Just what every new mother wants to hear. It amazes people to hear I had 3 more babies after that.

My daughter had her hand above her head and OP. I had contractions every 3-5 minutes for 6 days and pushed for almost 4 hours.

Whoa that’s rough!

My first was sunny side up. Resulted in epidural, 4 hours of pushing, and I still had to have an episiotomy and he had to be vacuum assisted. He was really stuck and it was exhausting and frustrating. Fortunately he was healthy. Hoping baby 2 will face the right way. Does "Spinning babies" help with flipping babies? I know it's meant for breech.

WOW Kristin, you are a birthing warrior! There is information on Spinning Babies about OP. I have had some clients find the site overwhelming so don't feel like you have to do "all of the things".

I gave birth to my daughter this way 2 weeks ago. This delivery was much scarier and harder than it was with my first. She kept going back in and I didn’t know why, I almost passed out from pushing a few times and I gone unresponsive for 5 minutes. But my last few pushes I asked them to use a vacuum. She came out almost a dark purple

My baby was OP! I pushed for 41 minutes and every person in the room was shocked. My contractions were on top of each other and I just wanted her out. I burst nearly all of the blood vessels in both of my eyes from pushing 🥴

Dr. Told me my baby is OP today but I have an anterior placenta and she said it can be harder for them to turn so I'm hoping I can get baby to turn before labor beings.

Crossing fingers for you. Just know that a lot of babies turn before labor begins.

I had a 10 pound OP baby with no meds.. the labor was long and erratic and the water stayed intact until push time when I asked them to break it, I had no back labor which I wonder is because the water had stayed intact ?? and pushed for about 18 minutes.

My daughter was back to back and I had a rough time. Had to end up getting 2 epidurals (one stopped working so had to be resited) gas & air and pethidine injections did nothing. I ended up having to have an episiotomy and forcep birth. That's probably why I only have one child lol

I just had emergency induction in September 2020 37 weeks due too low amniotic fluid. He's My third child but second time no epidural he came out with his face super badly bruised and swollen. My OB ended up not making it in time for delivery so the nurse at the front desk delivered him and at the time she said she didn't know if it was because of his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck or my pelvis beat him up but when the pediatrician from the hospital came to see him she told me it was because he was sunny side up. I ripped with 2 of my babies but worse with him I was thinking because he was sunny side up. Thank for sharing your video

Didn’t know of the cute sunny side up name. Have a 22 year old now. My ortho said it’s common for OP moms to break their coccyx because of the birth even years later. 11 years after my son’s birth I had a coccygectomy after suffering with a fractured and dislocated coccyx

WOW Jennifer, I didn't realize either.

Just had my baby Monday and he was sunny side up. Was HORRIBLY PAINFUL and took nearly 3 hours to get him out. He is my 4th one and that was the only time I was screaming and cursing at ppl, the pain is just so badly painful the profanity just comes out on it's own😂 and I definitely felt that back pain and pelvic pain. It's so bad that it's really really hard to force yourself to push.

I had an OP baby, didn't find out until after. His agar scores dropped and his heart rate dropped and I had 10-20 minutes contractions. Ended in me not dilating and an emergency c-section. Still struggling with wrapping my head around it and he's 8 months old now

I was a sunny side up baby. My mother labored for over 24 hours without progress before an emergency cesarean was ordered because my heart rate had started to drop and I hadn't made any real progress through her birth canal. When I was finally born, I was covered in bruises, my face especially. My mother was absolutely terrified and traumatized by the whole ordeal. It's likely not related at all, but I'm very claustrophobic, and my mother says it's because I spent so long trapped in her pelvis trying to be born.

I had an op baby, never heard the term op before today though. I pushed for like 3 hours she was difficult to come out and I believe she had acid reflux or already neck issue torticolis and also trouble breathing while eating all because of it.

I had an OP baby 27/02/2002 ,within half an hour of labour,doctor had asked my husband to feel babys head ,and just then she came out n fell on dads hand,Hannah has still got a blue mark on the bridge of her nose as she was stuck on my pelvis,,but I managed to gave a normal delivery,no injections..🙏

I had a sunny side up baby! Water broke, labor wasn't bad (actually had back labor with 1st baby who was born in regular position, #2 was painless in comparison.) He had cord wrapped around his neck so it was touch and go if it would be c-section or not. But got him out vaginally with his little head in a cone-shape on the front instead of the back on the head. Poor guy had a nasty scrape on his nose too. Otherwise my Sunny side up boy was easier than my girl to deliver.

Are you able to see a chiropractor? That can often help with baby positioning.

I’m really struggling with my OP baby. I’m 39 weeks pregnant and for the last three days the baby has been presenting in OP position. I’ve done absolutely everything to try to turn this baby. I’m trying to have hope because this is my 4th baby.

Hi Kierra, I am so sorry about the struggles with the OP baby. It sounds like you are trying everything, but if you haven't done a open knee chest position I would try that one next. Babies can turn during labor too, so don't give up hope! I'm thinking positive thoughts for baby's position.

My birthing experience was horrible. My first child and not knowing anything other then something was wrong it just didn’t feel right and everybody ignored me and chopped it up to it being my first child. Long story short my son was op my labor was induced and my pelvic bone never opened up enough. My son almost died from his neck being broke and I almost died from bleeding out. I was cut so bad from the top all the way to my anus and stitched back up with no pain medication I blacked out several times and needed oxygen. The doctor came in my room afterwards and apologized for not doing a csection I was 19 yrs old had I known what I know now I probably would have sued her and the hospital. Even after me telling them something felt wrong they never gave me a ultrasound when my baby heart rate dropped after 32 hours in labor they never tried to fix the issue. Now my son is 15 going through issues with his hands shoulders and feet that started as a baby. He was 8pounds 8onces

I had an OP baby. They tried manually turning her and had me try different positions, but nothing would put her in the correct position. After 3.5 hours of pushing, they ended up using forceps.

My second daughter was sunny side up! We ended up having to use the vaccuum to get her out from under my pelvis, and I got to push her the rest of the way. Also ironically she was born January 23,2020 which is the day this video was posted 🤭🤣

There are things that can be done to try and turn baby. I wish I had spent the time trying these things when I learned baby was in an OP position, but I didn't really understand what I it meant.

The doctor said my son was sunny side up in September of 2010

My OBGYN told me that babies in this position cause severe and very difficult labor. There is a little bit to much romance surrounding natural birth.

Sunny side up: My son was born sunny side up/Op

My sunny side up baby, got stuck. Her clavicle was broken & my clitoris was ripped in half. All with no pain meds or epidural. This time I’m seeing a chiropractor & refuse to deliver on my back, in a hospital bed. NOPE!

The purpose of the video is to give people information about what OP presentation means.

The only thing that made the contractions feel like ~normal~ contractions for back labor was to have my husband squeeze my hips and push down at the start of each contraction. I tell everyone expecting a baby about it because the midwife who told me did so 7 or so hours after induction started. I delivered without pain relief or gas though. It hurt alot back labor but hypnobirthing was so helpful. I had all rhe interventions with my 1st because I was just filled with fear.
