Its been my everyday carry for almost 4 years. Love it, enjoying it and never had any issue. Mine is AUS-8. When the first time i got, It took a while for my muscle memory to learn deploying the blade smoothly.

In hindsight, I think I would prefer Aus8 to D2. Thanks for sharing!

thanks for the video, I own a Rat 2 since I don’t remember when. I have carry it anywhere, even on my jungle trips. It is true it is not as easy to open as other knives but just flicking your wrist a bit and it works like magic. 99% of the time we don’t need to open the folder that fast. It is a very good folding knife , for the price I will strongly recommend it . One way to know if you like your knife is imagine loosing it, if would buy it again then you know it is good, the Rat 2 I will buy it any time .

I’ve got the RAT I and love it. I recently switched the pocket clip to the other end and found it much easier and faster to open it. Give it a try 😊

Get a bigass rat 1 and enjoy. Ive had an aus8 one for 11 years, and still use it daily. I work construction, prying, cutting crap I shouldn’t be like laminate and lvp floor, drywall, drill holes in wood, chop notches in wood, pry up staples, lift up crawlspace hatches, drop it in mud, its always wet from rinsing off and rain, sweat…. I like that I can sharpen it quickly with one of those cheap harbor freight diamond blocks. I’ve been using the same block for 11 years too. Impressed with that thing also.

I got the Rat 1 to carry and use for any tasks that I do not ruin my Spyderco Native lightweght blade on. I used it to cut some heavy duty zip ties. The Spyderco Native lightweight with the s30v steel is very sharp and seems to cut better than the Rat. But because the rat is more than half the price, I carry it as a second knife for rough tasks.

I'm a recent budget knife afficionado. The RAT2 was hyped on several youtube channels as the best thing since sliced bread. At the best, was a let down.i cushion that by saying I probably woulda loved the knife if I didn't have some others I really love. It has good steel and overall construction, but thats where it ends for me. It'll end up in my car as a beater. I like the look, the thinness and construction but it is far from a one hand intuitive knife like my other flippers that I thoroughly enjoy. This one takes some finess and smaller hand apparently. The clip is short and SUPER stiff. I got frustrated taking it out and putting in my pocket it was so tight. I was doing a project and basically just kept in fully in my pocket til my next use. It feels like itll wear out the jean material as well if i used this one a lot. For a budget friendly knife I'll buy other models of the Honeybadger or anything by Ganzo. The Ganzo Firebird FH91AND 41 in D2 with amazing flip action is $25 to $30 currently!!! Both Cheaper and more fun than this.

I hear you! It seems there is a tremendous amount of love for this knife, but it doesn't work for me too. There are many other options that I enjoy more. But, there is a knife for everyone.

Here's my 4 year edc review. It's still in my pocket. Lost, stolen, confiscated, worn out, broken. Replaced every time. It remains king regardless of a hundred other options I have in my collection.

You are probably used to knives with bearings in the pivot. The Rat series uses a combination of brass and nylon or Teflon washers. It takes a little while to break in.

Thanks for sharing! I never looked at changing the thumbstud. My guess is if it can be changed, then it is possible to switch to a non-sloped one. But I am not sure if it will really with deployment.

Get a number 8 torx bit and loosen the pivot screw. 20 seconds. Problem solved.

Yes! I have experienced the same thing with this particular knife. Not really a joy to use out of the box . I found that the knife is much easier t open if you move the pocket clip to the back of the knife. You also have to "slightly" adjust the pivot screw to find just the right sweet spot for the tension. Also oiling the pivot bearings helps alot . And maybe ever a tiny tiny dab of grease on the little silver detent ball on the liner lock can also help. It's always good to know that "your not the only one" experiencing these type of issues. Sometimes the guys with the really big popular KZread knife channels make knifes sound alttle TOO good. There aren't enough people that tell the good, the bad, and the ugly of the knife world . 😎👍

@@urbanknifeguy I get it. You can't really use the meat of your thumb for this knife. Top of the thumbnail and more of a straight up motion and it will fly out 👍
