    Hybe's greed? BTS made a spot touristy from a photoshoot alone and the city plastered their name on it (without permission) and tried to capitalize on that along with the businesses that capitalized off the tourism. Pisses me off because when the argument of whether they should be exempt from military was being debated, everyone refused to acknowledge the revenue they were bringing in to Korea by tourists alone, but then go back and blame them for their financial woes because they couldn't use their name for a tourist area? Now that their company is hitting back to protect their name from being used people want to act like Hybe's being greedy? Give the boys and the company credit where it's due.

    I think people need to understand that gaining profit by using BTS's name is not ok. If the city really wanted to use their name obviously they gotta ask for permission . People need to understand that BTS isn't a public property to be used as they like it. If the city people want to use the hard earned name and fame if our boys they definitely should ask for permission. It's like a scam , when you use the fame of an Artist to sell a certain product without getting their permission or giving them their part of the earning . That's why copyrights are taken seriously.

I see SK is stuck in old mindset though it tries to say they're modern...mindset and behavior needs to evolve! Still set un a me, me, portrayal. Entitled a bit! Thank you for the video, I am a big fan of BTS too. I quite agree with what Hybe did for not approving BTS sculptures at these places. Since the SK government don't really recognize BTS's as their national pride and didn't allow them military exemptions, they should not use BTS to attract anye tourists.

  • @bbvistas7596
    @bbvistas759618 күн бұрын

    So let me get this straight, they did not exempt BTS saying they have to serve in the military, but want to use BTS IP when they have all those exempted people to choose from to make an attraction since they are so famous or are a national treasure. BTS could suffer injury in the military. We as ARMY know that if one of them is out, the entire group will stop, but SK-gov and their netizen trolls said they have to serve, risking BILLIONS and receiving shameful reports from the global media for doing so. So NO, no one has a right to infringe on BTS's IP without their concent. If BTS was able to stay together and have their concerts in 2023 and 2024, probably over 2 million ARMYs would have booked each year for concerts, activities, popup stores, etc. But because BTS is not 7, I and millions of ARMYs are waiting for their return. This is so rich. They have other famous idols they can make props to attract people. Stop using BTS. Korea paid no attention to them, insulted them, some media continues to have a one sided reporting or do not report about BTS at all especially when they are doing some global initiatives. But they want to use BTS to make money for themselves. What happened to using the rest of the kpop industry, or FAKER. Yoon gov met with other kpop labels to see if they wanted BTS, their competition, to go to the military or not. It seemed like an opportunity to get contributions to the Yoon party if they took the competition out of the way. Why would think the competition companies would say anything fairminded for a group they think are in their way and obviously have to compete with in the charts. BTS back in 2014-15 were shooting music videos at locations around S.Korea and made their first big hit while doing so, and the rest of the Kpop industry was shooting music videos in walled reused sets that it was so much so that we could see all the same props used by 4 different artists doing this for 2 decades by following SM's standard until BTS came along and shattered that concept. Kpop being led by SM ent was not really contributing to SK yet the gov has been funding them with tax payers dollars. Not hearing those complaints. The military is using BTS to mute the complaints of savage treatment, sexual assault, deaths, lack of accountability, etc. to finally get some positive press. This is why the military wanted BTS. Look at how they and the gov try to use them.

Many artist and their teams around the world would not have let it go on this long. It’s not just about greed, they are a business. Go through the right channels and get it approved, problem solved.

  • @Hardyier

    It’s understandable why HYBE would protect their intelllectual property and would exercise their rights. That said, they waited some time before they did so. These sites had been up for a couple of years. Koreans take for granted what BTS has accomplished and what they bring to Korea (tourism, global recognition etc). When it came time to recognize BTS’s contribution to Korea (like Olympic athletes and piano players who got exemptions for military conscription), Koreans decided that they were not so special. In typical Korean fashion, they wanted it both ways, to deny recognition when it suited them then to exploit their good name when they could profit from it. What bothers me is that it is ARMY that loses out. What I would like to see is HYBE to grant licenses to small communities that could really benefit from the tourism. Korea like many parts of the world are losing their small towns and their cultural livelihood. The revitalization of these towns with the help of BTS would be another tremendous gift from HYBE and another way to shift the status quo - make a difference and give back. These licenses can have strict regulations such as no images of the Boys allowed. It would be a win win for everyone and show the generosity of HYBE and its contributions to these communities and Korea at large.

    True, but why should the country that politically played so cruelly with BTS earn more? I had the same reaction as you, but after considering it - I agree with Hybe. SK and their government are using BTS nonstop but when the time was right to pay them for all the money influx - they used them more for political games. If that's the game we're playing, then the agency can play it, too. I will have to side with Hybe on that one. And completely agree that people will go to see these sites for sure, but - well...

    I am sorry but wasn’t it this same beach where the coal plants were supposedly being constructed IN 2021, and people were sad that the beach was slowly being destroyed too and the coast was being eroded.. for a normal point of view other than the IP issues being stated, if the city couldn’t anyway stop of the construction of the coal plant which was behind the photoshoot which was eroding the beach , what’s the use of the spot even being their , I remember seeing picture of some huge cranes behind it and people were sad and protesting that the beach is eroding slowly. There were serious articles in Korean media saying The sand has been carved away by coastal erosion and the color of rushing waves has turned black. This happened due to Blue Power poured contaminated soil and sludge (sewage debris) from its construction site into the place where the fine sand was swept away and the current changed as it built a breakwater. There were literal articles stating the beach lost its beauty and especially photoshoot lost its beauty due to construction of the coal plant, what happened to that. ITS SEEMS LIKE CITY SHOULD probably look into it first also legally get permission and collaborate, with proper safety should also be in place I assume in a legal point of view. This trend of marketing with bangtan is becoming a thing , I remember a island was painted purple to hide away it’s dark history and marketed as a bts fan island since it’s purple. And multiple multiple Korean fans were advising to actually not visit since it’s not safe and asked everyone to spread so that foreign fans don’t get scammed there

Now they want to cry about their loss of earnings? Miss me with that.

It is the government's job. Not Hybe or BTS, especially with how the public are supporting those trying to destroy what BTS and Hybe built. Hybe definitely has to protect itself and BTS from absolutely everyone from now on. It is unfortunate to have to harden your rules against your fellow citizens, but they already tried being relaxed with these things and people took advantage.

On the other had BTS has been the face of tourism for Seoul/SK so it is a pity some of the smaller areas who need this kind of support are left out. Is Hybe really losing because of a photozone? In fact I would say they gain more for the sake of a couple of photos. I would be interested to know how much control BTS will have over their image as a group and/or for solo works in their new contract. As men now in their late 20's and 30's I hope they have more say.💜

    Don't upload or don't research things like this. People come to korea is not for kpop or kdrama or idols. People come to other countries because they wanna enjoy things. If the government of korea thought about that not using any idol but maintaining lots of interesting stuffs and guiding people will come. Thats means if kpop die korean tourists are no longer. Thats so stupid topic. People listen to their music doesn't mean they like every stuffs of them. Music has cure but not to interested people for certain countries, because those industries and those celebrities life are so fail and fake. People know that. So don't provide those kinds of things. The reality is people will visit something that interest them. The countries history and tourist sites maybe secondary for some. In 2017 there was a study that 1 out of 13 tourists visited South Korea bec of BTS. People have capitalized on that. Not the first time it has happened. Will still happen in the future.

    Stop ruining natural beauty with commercial photo ops. I've never seen other places doing that....just cheapens the landscape. Do we really need to see plastic BTS and drama props everywhere we go now? There is a time and place for everything but not every spot has to become a fan attraction. What happened to conservation? Instead of enjoying the beach you just stand in line for a photo??? That is just sad....강릉 is one of the best natural landmarks. Don't ruin its peace and beauty. So sad how these local governments are so quick to throw in some pieces of plastic and capitalize on them instead of taking the chance to promote some local artists, like sculptors, etc. Their vision seems to only be cheap and quick entertainment, sadly.

How would they sell their products if something does not attract people there? Don't worry we armys are also glad that they have removed as you call it plastic BTS from there, our boys deserves better 😂😂😂😂 and from the news showing an empty beach, I can see imagery tourist and foreigners rushing to go there to enjoy beauty. I also used to them, but when I go through lots of music I found there have lots of great talented artis*s. 17, stray kids, lily, solar like people, they can sing live and they are so multitalented. B*S maybe famous but not talent** enoug, and hyb* groups as well. Still people denied when they gone wrong, people have to think about in mind not only with heart. We only have to do is listen to the musi* we like, if we don't like but they are our favourite group. So then people still listen and majority of the world fans think oh my go* they are famous. They may have huge fan base. It doesn't tell they are talent**. The word have more talented singers, talented artist, but they don't have chances like this. The other countries name even don't know by the people who are crazy over some brands and some trendy stuffs. Living means is not under the trendy, but in good way doing our best. People still going over lots of stuffs. And kpo* id*l and indust* have to change. Thats is more normalised. They are also doing their jobs, they are not go*s or prin*e/princ*ss. They have to overcome with their f*ke things and live normaly like normal people and other countries artist. Their personal life can be personal. But why still this industry follow stupid childish things, if all the arti*t think like that, then they can go agains* this and behave nicely. Then stu** not bra*n f*ns also will normalize. And kor*a is not only kp*p, there has beauty which some other countries doesn't get. There has nice whether in every season, and some nice rules, standards. It's time to put an end to the absurd claims that BTS is being exploited. The truth is that this has nothing to do with BTS, but with HYBE. To make it clear, HYBE does not make a single penny from this situation. So, if they did, do you really think that the band members would receive a fair share of the profits? Let's be real, the only ones who benefit from this are local businesses that profit from the surge in visitors and fans. And guess what? I don't see anything wrong with small businesses making money. Therefore, if we are to apply this logic, then all the Armys who create BTS merchandise, using their likeness for their products, and who also run small businesses, should not stop selling their products. They do not have permission or a license from HYBE to do so, but the truth is, HYBE and BTS do not reap any financial rewards from those sales either.

    Okay, lets be realistic it's not like Hybe is gonna be able to 100% eliminate all the illegal IP usage of BTS names, but again why should Hybe or BTS allow the country or large business brand names to use their BTS name for money and get 0 benefits from it? These are the same people that go off and criticize their every move. Now not saying there aren't any Korean Armys, i'm generalizing the population as a majority. But that's probably why when Army's that create and sell BTS themed merch don't get shut down as often as when government or other large business try to exploit them. Why? Because most of the smaller sellers like for example sell on Etsy or FB sellers that create BTS themed merch are ONE actual and legit BTS fans and HYBE/BTS see that, TWO these sellers probably spend way more than they profit on selling hense why they create BTS merch in the first place to support their BTS spending habits like going to concerts or purchasing legit BTS merch and THREE a lot of Armys often create BTS themed merch for freebees/trades at BTS concerts or pop up events.

If it's not properly maintained or anything like that, then it affects BTS/Hybe because the people are coming to see it because of BTS, not because it's just lawn chairs. Hybe would be seen at fault by BTS fans for anything that is wrong with the attraction that they are not responsible for.
