Onoha Itto-ryu② Japanese Classical Martial Art

Спорт

Classical Japanese martial arts are ancient techniques that developed to help samurai warriors survive on the battlefield. In this week's special feature, our presenter Ayako Kisa visits the Onoha Itto-ryu school of swordsmanship, a school that has produced many distinguished swordsmen. Takemi Sasamori, the 17th head, takes us deeper in to the school's philosophy, as we explore the complexity of these fascinating disciplines.

Because the 17th generation headmaster of the style, Sasamori Takemi (the old master that was interviewed in this segment), was a Reverend and they practiced at his church (he passed away in 2017)

There were Christian samurai. Japan could have ended up a Christian nation had it not been for Tokugawa Iyeasu.
